NYCC 12 Exclusive Rampage Toys x Tenacious Toys Blue Manotaurs, Ugly Unicorns & Cyclops Dinos

New York Comic-Con 2012 Exclusive Rampage Toys x Tenacious Toys Blue Manotaurs, Ugly Unicorns & Cyclops Dinos

Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys has traveled all the way Japan for New York Comic-Con 2012 and brought all kinds of goodies with him! He’s literally got a list a mile long of amazing sofubi customs. But what’s really got The Blot excited is his collaboration with Tenacious Toys. Jon’s produced three of his popular creations, the Manatour, Ugly Unicorn and Cyclops Dinos, in beautiful “Tenacious Toys Blue” vinyl.

What’s great about this Rampage Toys x Tenacious Toys collaboration is all three figures will be available both painted by Jon and unpainted to really let that TT Blue shine! Pick up all of the five figures seen here and so much more all weekend long (while supplies last) at the Tenacious Toys NYCC booth #3121. But that’s not all! Jon will also have some amazing customs at O’Nell’s NYCC booth #3216 on Thursday, October 11th, from 3-6pm, as well as the Designer Toy Awards ceremony on Saturday, October 13th.

“Companion Monsters” Manotaur & Ugly Unicorn Set by Rampage Toys

“Companion Monsters” Manotaur & Ugly Unicorn Vinyl Figure Set by Rampage Toys

Rampage Toys just released a killer two figure set that you’ve got to check out! Straight from Superfestival 59 in Japan comes the “Companion Monsters” Manotaur and Ugly Unicorn vinyl figure set. What’s really cool about this release is that it marks the first official painted release of the Manotaur (a collaboration between Rampage Toys and Imps and Monsters). Both figures feature pinky-flesh vinyl with neon pink, clear pearl-pink and gold sprays, and feature reddish brown hair.

Only five sets of “Companion Monsters” were created and the remaining sets from Superfestival can now be yours from the Rampage Toys online store for just $110. These two figure sets come bagged and carded with a BIG hand-pulled screen printed header card. The Manotaur measures in at around 8 inches tall and wide, while the Unicorn is around 4 inches tall.

Rampage Toys x Imps and Monsters Black & White Blank The Manotaur Vinyl Figures

Rampage Toys x Imps and Monsters Blank White The Manotaur Vinyl Figure

I don’t know how they did it, but Rampage Toys and Imps and Monsters were able to take The Manotaur from illustration to full on production vinyl figure in no time flat! It was just December when The Blot was talking about the original sculpt of The Manotaur, and now the character has already been produced in the finest Japanese soft vinyl! The first two colorways of the Rampage Toys x Imps and Monsters The Manotaur vinyl figure are unpainted black and unpainted white. Both versions are now available for pre-order through the Imps and Monsters online store for just $65. This 8” figure is expected to start shipping in early April 2012.

The Manotaur roams the world in search of something he can't quite remember. In fact, ever since he invited that fire spirit into his head he's had trouble concentrating on little other than catering to his countless neuroses and consuming anything with the word gummy in the description. In any case, he's pretty sure he's forgetting something really important...

Rampage Toys x Imps and Monsters The Manotaur Vinyl Figure

Rampage Toys x Imps and Monsters Manotaur Sculpt

Jon Malmstedt (of Rampage Toys) is teaming up with Justin Hillgrove (of Imps and Monsters) to release a very cool new Japanese vinyl figure, the Manotaur! The sculpt, which you can see above, was done by Justin, and a wax mold is already being worked on in Japan so production on this awesome new figure can get underway. The Blot loves the design of the Manotaur…he’s just the right mix of cute and deadly monster that would make a welcome additional to my ever-growing toy collection. I was also excited to find out he’ll be a whopping 8 inches tall! That’s one big Sofubi figure.

Jon and Justin are aiming for a spring release, hopefully at Imps and Monsters’ Emerald City Comic-Con booth in Seattle! Jon will be painting the releases, and both Justin and Jon will be hosting sales of the figure on their respective websites. Also expect small and unique painted runs on occasion form both artists! The Blot is pretty excited about this new figure and I’m really looking forward to seeing the final product.
