Raising Arizona Movie Poster Screen Print & Enamel Pin by Andrew Kolb x Mondo

Later today, Mondo will be releasing a new movie poster for Joel Coen's comedy classic Raising Arizona by Andrew Kolb! Written by the Coen Brothers, the film is a fast-paced and hilarious story following bumbling ex-con H.I. McDunnough (Nicolas Cage) and his officer wife, Ed, as they kidnap a child (from a set of quintuplets) after learning they're unable to have children. As Mondo explained, “when it came to assigning the poster and pin, we knew pretty much instantly that Andrew Kolb was a great fit for the title. His artwork and style lends itself perfectly to the comical and animated tone of the film, and we love how this poster and pin turned out.”

Kolb went on to say, “Raising Arizona is basically a live-action episode of Looney Tunes, right? The violence, the comedy, even the plot just feels like it was ripped from Saturday morning. I basically had that in mind the entire time I was working on this. The initial sketch only used characters that were originally from the diaper chase-scene (the cops, the dogs, the convenience store clerk, etc.), but then I realized I'm a grown-up and can do whatever I want and everyone was on board with putting in Dot, Arizona Sr., and so on.”

Wet Hot American Summer Screen Print by Andrew Kolb x Mondo

In celebration of the Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later television series debuting on Netflix this Friday, Mondo will be releasing a pair of new posters for the film that started it all: Whet Hot American Summer! Both posters were designed by Andrew Kolb, who as Mondo puts it “did an incredible job showcasing the many manic personalities and interactions between them using his signature illustration style.” Kolb went on to explain, “If I captured half of the charm, humanity, and silliness of the source material then I consider it a success. Heck I'd take 40%.”

Wet Hot American Summer (Version 1) by Andrew Kolb is a 24”x18” hand numbered screen print. Wet Hot American Summer (Version 2) is an 18”x24” hand numbered screen print. Later today Mondo will be releasing a movie poster for National Lampoon’s Vacation by Andrew Kolb! His fun, whimsical art style works so well to capture the essence of this comedy classic. As Kolb explained “Before the crew brought me the project, I'd only seen the film a half dozen times, but thought I knew it pretty well. Wrong. After watching it again - taking notes, rewinding, and jotting down ideas the whole time - I realized just how brilliantly paced the whole thing is. In working through concepts (maps, postcards, etc.), the goal was to make something as expansive as a film about a road trip deserves, while also literally packing in as many references as possible."

Hanna-Barbera Screen Prints by Dave Perillo, Andrew Kolb, Anne Benjamin, Matthew Woodson & Drew Millward

Mondo is teaming up with Hanna-Barbera to release a new series of epic screen prints based on H-B’s iconic cartoons The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Tom & Jerry, Jonny Quest and Hong Kong Phooey! The Blot honestly just can’t believe it took this long for this collaboration to happen. The entire series drops at a random time today, December 4th, at the Mondo online store, and features designs by Dave Perillo, Andrew Kolb, Anne Benjamin, Matthew Woodson and Drew Millward.

Later today, Mondo will be releasing two new posters from four different artists representing four very different eras of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. TMNT has had a huge resurgence over the past two years with a new cartoon, toy line, IDW comic book series and live action movie. While the movie left me feeling blah, the new cartoon, toys and comic book series have been fantastic! The Blot can’t even describe how happy it makes me that Nickelodeon realizes how special and beloved the Ninja Turtles are, and what an amazing job they’ve done introducing Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo to a new generation.

This epic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles release is comprised of a TMNT poster for the classic 1980s animated cartoon series by Tom Whalen, a post for the 1990 live action film by Rich Kelly, a poster based on the original Eastman/Laird comics by JC Richard and the amazing new TMNT cartoon series currently airing on Nickelodeon by Andrew Kolb. What an awesome idea for a series, and boy did all four artists knock it out of the park! The Blot especially loves Whalen’s screen print as this is the version of the Turtles I grew up with.
