“Orlando: City of Sandwiches” T-Shirt by Deli Fresh Threads

On January 30, 2018 a report came out that had Orlando, Florida was the Sandwich Capital of the United States! Which makes sense because it’s also the home of our friends at Deli Fresh Threads. To celebrate this huge accomplishment, Deli Fresh Threads has released this fun “Orlando: City of Sandwiches” t-shirt! But best of all, 100% of all proceeds from the sale of this shirt will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. As Biggie Breads explained, “I wanted this shirt to be special – I also wanted to incorporate some of the sandwich shops I had done #SandwichEatUp events with. In talking with my designer for this shirt, Will of Noble Folk Design, I told him of a goal I have had for the past 2 years – I wanted to create a shirt that the sales would go to a local charity. Being a food-inspired clothing brand, I thought the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida would be a perfect organization.”

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a non-profit organization that collects, stores and distributes donated food to more than 550 feeding partners in 6 central Florida counties. Last year, thanks to the donors, volunteers, and great community support, they were able to distribute 56 million meals to food pantries, shelters, day cares and many more. They have also created opportunities for the economically challenged with 14 week culinary training programs to help them on a path of self-sustainability.

What you may not know is the history behind this iconic sandwich. It is said to have been created in the 1930’s by a cook named Joe at a cafe in Sioux City, Iowa. He added tomato sauce to the “loose meat” sandwich he was making creating one of the world’s messiest foods, the Sloppy Joe.

In 2015, Biggie of Deli Fresh Threads had the opportunity to go to Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon. While in the pacific northwest, Biggie realized just how much that region loves small businesses, shopping local, using local foods and products...and Big Foot! It’s that trip which inspired Deli Fresh Threads to come up with this Big Foot Subs t-shirt. The Blot’s been a huge fan of both Deli Fresh Threads and UME Toys for years, so it is really exciting to see these two indie brands collaborate on a release.

Deli Fresh Threads, The Blot’s favorite fictional sandwich shop, has released a new food inspired t-shirt design! The BLT is one of the most popular sandwiches in the United States, a true American classic. Designed so perfectly it’s almost like da Vinci created it. It’s that kind of thinking that inspired Deli Fresh Threads’ new BLT t-shirt designed by Lain Lee III. This delicious tee pays homage to Leonardo da Vinci with a Vitruvian Man inspired Bacon Lettuce and Tomato sandwich diagram.

Our pal Biggie over at Deli Fresh Threads just dropped two killer new sandwich themed t-shirts! For the past few years Deli Fresh Threads has been hosting #SandwichEatUp events in and around the Orlando, FL area. It is a way to support local sandwich shops, and also ties in nicely with the theme of his indie clothing brand. As Biggie explains, “I feel there are so many great sandwich shops around that people should go out and support Local and Delicious!”

Sandwich City T-Shirt Series 2 by Deli Fresh Threads

Deli Fresh Threads continues its fantastic sports themed Sandwich City T-Shirt Series with three awesome new designs! The Sandwich City Series mashes-up a city’s signature sandwich with the iconic logo of a professional sports team from that same city. These designs are Deli Fresh Threads’ way of showing love to these wonderful sandwiches and the cities they call home. The “Italian Beef” combines the thinly sliced, slow-roasted beef sandwich with the NFL’s Chicago Bears logo, the “Fluffah Nuttah” is a mash-up of the mesmerizing peanut butter and marshmallow creame sandwich with the MLB’s Boston Red Sox logo, and the “Liberty Sandwich”, while not a sports themed design, pays tribute to the Fluffernutter with a retro design using the sandwiches’ original name, the Liberty Sandwich. Who knew the Fluffernutter was the official unofficial state sandwich of Massachusetts!?!

El Lunchador T-Shirt by Deli Fresh Threads

Like The Blot, our buddy Biggie of Deli Fresh Threads grew up a huge fan of the WWE and professional wrestling! For Deli Fresh Threads newest release, Biggie brought back those old school wrestling posters that promoters used to use to advertise events back in the day, mixed in a little Lucha Libre wrestling, and came up with a delicious new t-shirt design entitled “El Lunchador”. This shirt is seriously fantastic! Designed by the talented Lain Lee III, each El Lunchador t-shirt purchased will also include a few extra goodies like a Masked Biggie Bread sticker and an El Lunchador poster.

Who is El Lunchador? As a child, El Lunchador got bullied for his lunch daily. The kids at school would take El Lunchador's lunch, and eat the delicious sandwich lovingly prepared each day by his mother. One day after having his lunch stolen again, El Lunchador decided no one should ever be bullied for their sandwich (or for any other reason)! El Lunchador loved sandwiches so much that he decided to learn the fighting styles of the sandwiches he enjoyed. Being from Mexico he learned the fighting style of Lucha Libre and the delicious sandwich making ways of the Torta. In Vietnam, he learned how to make a bahn mi and the fighting style of Vovinam. He studied Bartitsu in England, while also learning the history of the sandwich. Last but not least, he studied MMA and professional wrestling in the United States. While in the good old USofA, El Lunchador also learned the skills necessary to make delicious cheesesteaks, hoagies, po’boys, French Dips and more! No one knows who the masked Lunchador is, but when he's in the ring El Lunchador will devour the competition. Just like when he’s faced with a delicious sandwich!
