Luke Chueh will be releasing the fourth colorway of his very first self-produced vinyl figure – Low Fidelity – this weekend exclusively at DesignerCon 2024! The DCon 2024 Low Fidelity One With Nature Edition Vinyl Figure features brown body with camo green hoodie and black headphones.
This 7” viny figure is based on Chueh’s 2022 painting “Low Fidelity”. The figure captures the feeling of being comfortably alone, a common thread in Chueh’s work. Inspired by the lofi/study-beat/chillhop music Luke often listens to when painting, the figure was sculpted by 3D modeling artist Dave Bondi, who also sculpted Luke’s first art toy, Possessed, in 2007. It will first be available at Luke Chueh’s DCon booth #820 with any remaining figures available at LukeChuehStore.com after the convention.

This weekend at DesignerCon 2024, DKE Toys will be releasing this epic DCon 2024 Exclusive Realize Resist Resign Chrome Figure Set by Luke Chueh! This amazing series studies the psychology of imprisonment. Chueh’s goal with this series was to incorporate the clear plastic shell of the carded action figure into the design of the toy. The series employs the plastic blister as part of final design and is not meant to be removed from its packaging.

This Monday, February 19th, Luke Chueh will be releasing his very first self-produced vinyl figure – Low Fidelity! This awesome new 7” vinyl figure is based on the painting and print series of the same name, and features Chueh’s iconic sad / emo bear wearing a hoodie and listening to headphones. The Low Fidelity Standard Edition features a white bear in a black hoodie with silver headphones, while the Low Fidelity High Fidelity Editon features a black bear in a white hoodie with gold headphones.

Luke Chueh has released his newest Sad Bear art print, entitled “Espresso Not Expresso”! As Luke explains, “The story behind ‘Espresso Not Expresso’ originates from one of my college experiences. As a young coffee fan, I used to mispronounce ‘espresso’ as ‘expresso’, a common mistake in America. One day, a former roommate mockingly corrected me, saying, “It’s espresso, not expresso.” His words left me feeling ignorant and humiliated, like the small-town boy I was (I grew up in Fresno, CA). Now, more than 30 years later, whenever I have an espresso, I find myself occasionally reflecting on that event. The bitterness of the coffee seems to complement the wound I still carry with me.”

Produced by FLABSLAB, Hello Lukey is a homage to the iconic Hello Kitty, while this colorway pays tribute to one of Spider-Man’s greatest villains, Marvel’s Carnage. Beyond the two eyes, nose, and no mouth, Hello Lukey also takes Kitty’s classic seated pose.
The red and black Carnage Edition Hello Lukey is limited to 150 pieces, with 50 available through FLABSLAB and 100 available at LukeChueh.bigcartel.com for $55. The marbling effect of the Carnage colors is created when the vinyl is poured and not through paint or other coloring techniques. As a result, each Carnage Hello Lukey will have their own unique pattern.

The “naive” art style, coupled with over the top violence speaks to me on so many different levels.
