The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings Timed Edition Screen Prints by Matt Ferguson x Bottleneck Gallery

Yesterday, Bottleneck Gallery took us back to Middle Earth with the release of Matt Ferguson’s minimalistic and clever screen prints for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series! As BNG explained, “Matt’s brilliantly pared down these two fantastical series within these prints.” Each poster is a timed release, meaning the run size of each print will be set based on the number of pre-orders placed over the next 48 hours.

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by Matt Ferguson are 18”x24” hand numbered screen prints. Each print retails for $30 or you can buy them as a 2 piece set for $50. These posters are available for purchase at the Bottleneck Gallery online store from now through 11:59am EST on Saturday, March 17th.

The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit Screen Prints by Aaron Horkey, Ken Taylor & Nicolas Delort

Later today Mondo will be releasing three epic prints based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic middle-earth books. First up is Aaron Horkey's The Fellowship of the Ring, which is the final screen print in his amazing Lord of the Rings poster series that's been three years in the making. The poster depicts Gandalf's battle against the Balrog in the Mines of Moria with an incredible attention to detail.

To celebrate the release of the The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in theaters this week, Mondo will also be releasing movie posters for the previous two The Hobbit films, An Unexpected Journey by Ken Taylor and The Desolation of Smaug by Nicolas Delort. All three screen prints go on sale at a random time today, Tuesday, December 16th, at the Mondo online store.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring by Aaron Horkey is a 19.25”x39” hand numbered and signed screen print. The Standard Edition is limited to 606 pieces and will retail for $100 each, while the Variant is limited to 361 pieces and will retail for $200.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey by Ken Taylor is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. It is limited to 325 pieces and will retail for $50.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug by Nicolas Delort is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. It is limited to 300 pieces and will retail for $45.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Variant by Nicolas Delort is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. It is limited to just 125 pieces and will retail for $65.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Pop! Vinyl Figures by Funko

The second The Hobbit film is almost here and with it comes an awesome new wave of The Hobbit Pop! Movies vinyl figures from Funko. For The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Funko has created 3.75” chunky versions of Gandalf the Grey, Invisible Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield, Azog and making an unexpected return, the Lord of the Rings’ Legolas Greenleaf! Here’s hoping the film is as good as these figures! The Blot still can’t figure out why they’re making three films out of one book.

Each The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Pop! Movie vinyl figure features one point of articulation and comes packaged in a full color displayable window box. These figures should be hitting stores this week, but in case you can’t find them locally they’re available now from Entertainment Earth for $9.99 each here.

How awesome is this new ‘70s inspired, old school dungeons and dragon Threadless t-shirt “The Grey Wizard”, which pays tribute to the OG Grey Wizard Gandalf!?! “The Grey Wizard” takes everything that’s cool about J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and turns it up a notch by including an awesome psychedelic space landscape under Gandalf’s cloak. This image is so simple and yet so complex all at the same time. I’m not much of a fantasy guy, but even The Blot would proudly rep this awesome tee!  It's just too bad this didn't come out in time to be worn at the The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey's debut in theaters.  I guess there's always the two sequels.

The Hobbit Pop! Vinyl Figures by Funko

For some strange reason I don’t feel like Peter Jackson’s upcoming The Hobbit trilogy is getting as much hype as it should considering how HUGE The Lord of the Rings was. Maybe too much time has passed, or maybe The Hobbit is just not as strong a story as The Lord of the Rings, but either way there’s no doubt this movie is going to do gangbusters at the movie theater this winter. Both Jackson and author J. R. R. Tolkien have large and devoted fan bases ensure The Hobbit will have a huge impact internationally. This also means people are going to go nuts for Funko’s new line of The Hobbit Pop! Movies vinyl figures.

The Hobbit Pop! Movies Series includes Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf and Gollum vinyl figures. Each figure features one point of articulation, stands 3.75” tall and come packaged in a full color displayable window box. The Hobbit Pop! Hellboy II: The Golden Army - New European Character Movie Posters

These new Hellboy II: The Golden Army European character movie promotional posters are sooo much cooler than the original Hellboy II Teaser Character Movie Posters I blogged about back in January.



Those first few character promo posters were just headshots, while these new and improved ones are full bodied and give us a better look at the movie’s creepy looking villains. Along with posters of the movie’s three main heroes, Hellboy, Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien, we get two posters featuring Prince Nuada and the Angel of Death, a creature that looks like it just stepped out of Guillermo del Toro’s oscar nominated Pan’s Labyrinth.



If you haven’t been able to tell from previous Hellboy posts, I love Guillermo del Toro’s work and can’t wait for this film to come out. He just has such a unique vision that translates amazingly onto the screen. Pretty much everything this guy touches is cinematic gold. And, while I’m not a huge middle earth fan, I know del Toro working with Peter Jackson on The Hobbit films will amount to some unbelievable special effects and movie telling. The Hobbit won’t be out until 2010, but you can see Hellboy II: The Golden Army in just 7 weeks!
