Hellboy Screen Print by Florian Bertmer & Hellboy 2 Screen Print by Ken Taylor

Mondo continues its new Screen Print Director's Series based on the films of Guillermo del Toro with the release of not one, but two all new posters this Friday. After the killer Blade II by Mike Sutfin comes Hellboy by Florian Bertmer and Hellboy 2: The Golden Army by Ken Taylor.

Mondo Tees - Hellboy Screen Print by Florian Bertmer

The Blot loves that Guillermo del Toro is the first subject of Mondo’s new Director’s Series, but I do question their decision to release both Hellboy prints on the same day. I think it does a real disservice to the two artists. I mean how can you not compare the two prints when sold on the same day and have such similar subjects (and in my opinion one is a much stronger design than the other).

Mondo Tees - Hellboy II: The Golden Army by Ken Taylor

Both Hellboy prints measure 24”x36” and will retail for $45 each. Florian Bertmer’s Hellboy screen print has a limited edition run size of 240 pieces, while Ken Taylor’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army screen print has a limited edition run size of 360 prints.

Both Hellboy prints go on sale Friday, January 28th, at a random time on the Mondo Tees online store.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army Mez-Itz Vinyl Figures Packaging Photos

I know the great double windowed packaging of Mezco ToyzToys R Us Exclusive Hellboy II: The Golden Army Mez-Itz vinyl figures was mentioned in the comments section of The Blot’s initial post about these figures, but the packaging is so cool and unique I thought it deserved its own post. While the coloring of the Hellboy and Abe Sapien Mez-Itz packaging is pretty bland (who sells toys in black and white packaging anyway), I really love the double windowed boxes which allow collectors to see all of the great details on the front and back of each figure.

I’m not sure why Mez-Itz decided to go with a predominately black and white box, but I would think some color would help sell this new toy line to the younger generation. While these figures probably skew to an older crowd, every sale helps and kids are always looking for a new toy to collect and/or play with. Regardless, the double sided window packaging is innovative, and it's a nice touch for collectors who prefer to keep their figures in their original packaging.

If you haven’t checked out these great new figures from Mezco Toyz, head down to your local Toys R Us and give them a once over! I promise once you do you’ll love them as much as I do. And at only $10.99, these 6 inch Hellboy II figures will make a great addition to your designer vinyl collection.

Hellboy and Abe Sapien Mez-Itz Vinyl Figures by Mezco

To be honest, The Blot is not all that familiar with Mez-Itz, Mezco’s new line of 6 inch collectible rotocast vinyl figures, but it looks like a pretty cool platform! Series 1 of Mezco's designer vinyl toy line features Hellboy (with his trusty revolver the Good Samaritan) & Abe Sapien, also known as Red and Blue, two of the stars of last summer’s smash hit Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Hellboy and Abe Sapien 6 Inch Mez-Itz Designer Vinyl Figures by Mezco
These Hellboy Mez-Itz figures are based on the character designs from Hellboy II: The Golden Army and do a great job introducing the new Mez-Itz platform to the designer vinyl community. I’m definitely excited to see what Mezco has in store for its new line of designer vinyl figures. Who knows what pop culture icons might show up next in Mez-Itz form?

Mezco has not yet released a price for its Hellboy Mez-Itz figures, but they are due in stores sometime during July of 2009.

Hellboy Invades NBC - New Hellboy II Television Promo Ads

Hellboy II: The Golden Army - Ron Perlman as HellboyTonight at midnight marks the official release of Hellboy II: The Golden Army and I’m already scoping out movie times to try and avoid the crazy opening weekend crowds that come with every new movie that debuts over the summer. Universal, who is producing and distributing Hellboy II, has come up with some really creative television promotional advertisements for the movie and The Blot can’t get enough of them.

NBC/Universal logoA few years ago NBC and Universal merged to create the aptly named NBC/Universal, so it should come as no surprise that Universal would utilize the NBC family of networks to promote their upcoming movies. First it was a promo ad involving Hellboy on Bravo’s Inside the Actors Studio (which you can see here), and then on Sunday I saw a USA Network “Characters Welcomed” ad that featured Hellboy. Now the internet is abuzz with new Hellboy II promo ads featuring two of NBC’s most popular freshmen shows, Chuck and American Gladiators.

I don’t know who came up with the idea to have Hellboy interact with other properties’ characters, but it really is ingenious. The first video below features Hellboy playing video games with Chuck’s Zachary Levi (a.k.a Chuck Bartowski) and the second shows Hellboy visiting the set of American Gladiators where he runs into Gladiator Wolf (played by Hollywood Yates). There’s also a great retro “The More You Know” public service announcement starring Hellboy. I’m hoping there are a few more crossovers out there, but in the mean time check out these three new NBC Hellboy II TV promo ads below:

Hellboy on Inside The Actors Studio - Hellboy II Promo Ad

This viral web advertisement for Hellboy II: The Golden Army is hilarious. The Blot’s a big fan of James Lipton and Inside The Actors Studio, so to see Hellboy on that infamous stage with Lipton firing questions at him is really awesome. It’s a brief clip but definitely worth watching. From all of the reviews out so far it seems like Hellboy II is going to be sick and is very deserving of all of the hype that it’s received so far. So be prepared for some long lines if you plan on seeing in theaters when it opens next weekend on July 11th.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army x Adidas Sneaker Collaboration

Today’s second Hellboy II: The Golden Army post involves a pretty cool sneaker tie in with Adidas Originals. To commemorate the release of Hellboy II, Adidas Originals is producing “a unique tri-collaboration project” in which they will “launch two sneakers to coincide with the global release of Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The collaboration brings together Adidas Originals, Universal Studios & Guillermo Del Toro, the film’s director, and Dark Horse Comics & Mike Mignola, the original comic book artist of Hellboy.” (link)

The first limited edition sneaker is the Universal Studios x Adidas - Hellboy II: The Golden Army collaboration, the Forum Mid-Golden Army. This shoe is gold, black and white and has “Hellboy lettering across the Velcro strap, with an image of Ron Perlman as the titular demonic anti-hero on the outsole and footbed.” (link)

Hellboy II: The Golden Army European Theatrical One-Sheet Movie Poster

This is the first of two pretty cool Hellboy II: The Golden Army posts for today. While Hellboy II is not producing anywhere near the amount of promotional posters that The Dark Knight is, the movie is definitely rivaling the upcoming Batman film in the quality of its promo pieces. Today’s newest Hellboy II theatrical one-sheet is definitely one of my favorite movie posters of the summer.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army European Theatrical One-Sheet Movie Poster
I know I’ve talked a lot about the movie posters for The Dark Knight, but Hellboy is quietly giving Batman a run for his money in the PR department. It’s too bad Dark Horse’s Hellboy is no where near as mainstream as Batman or Marvel’s stable of heroes. Because otherwise, this movie might have been one of the summer’s most talked about sequels instead of that other super hero film starring a certain green goliath.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army - New European Character Movie Posters

These new Hellboy II: The Golden Army European character movie promotional posters are sooo much cooler than the original Hellboy II Teaser Character Movie Posters I blogged about back in January.

New Hellboy II: The Golden Army European Character Posters - Hellboy
New Hellboy II: The Golden Army European Character Posters - Liz Sherman
Those first few character promo posters were just headshots, while these new and improved ones are full bodied and give us a better look at the movie’s creepy looking villains. Along with posters of the movie’s three main heroes, Hellboy, Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien, we get two posters featuring Prince Nuada and the Angel of Death, a creature that looks like it just stepped out of Guillermo del Toro’s oscar nominated Pan’s Labyrinth.

If you haven’t been able to tell from previous Hellboy posts, I love Guillermo del Toro’s work and can’t wait for this film to come out. He just has such a unique vision that translates amazingly onto the screen. Pretty much everything this guy touches is cinematic gold. And, while I’m not a huge middle earth fan, I know del Toro working with Peter Jackson on The Hobbit films will amount to some unbelievable special effects and movie telling. The Hobbit won’t be out until 2010, but you can see Hellboy II: The Golden Army in just 7 weeks!

Hellboy II: The Golden Army Final Theatrical One-Sheet Movie Poster

Here it is, the final theatrical one-sheet movie poster for this summer’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army by director Guillermo del Toro and starring Ron Perlman as the red, horned superhero Hellboy. I think this is my favorite Hellboy II movie poster of them all. It’s a simple poster with a funny tag line, and yet it still gets the message across that Hellboy II is an action movie due to Hellboy’s look and pose. Hellboy II’s final one-sheet movie poster really does a great job of conveying the film’s “signature blend of action, humor and character-based spectacle.” (link) “The saga of the world’s toughest, kitten-loving hero continues to unfold in Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” look for it in theaters on July 11, 2008. Hellboy II: The Golden Army Theatrical Movie Poster

New York Comic-Con was this past weekend and the convention was jam packed with panels on upcoming movies, toys lines and comic books. One of the panel's topics was Hellboy II: The Golden Army and from all of the reports I’ve read online, the movie sounds like it will be even better than the original. Coming out of NYCC is a first look at the new Hellboy II: The Golden Army theatrical movie poster by legendary artist Drew Struzan. Struzan has produced some of the most legendary movie posters of all time, and while this one probably won’t go down as one of his most timeless, it is still a great addition to his portfolio. Hellboy II will be out in theaters on July 11th, 2008.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army Promotional Posters and Trailer

When The Blot first heard they were considering making a sequel to 2004’s Hellboy with director Guillermo del Toro (Mimic, Blade II, Pan’s Labyrinth) on board, I got very excited. While I’m not that into horror movies, even I can see that del Toro is quite the visionary and he did wonders adapting the Hellboy comic book to the big screen. Everything he touches is artistic gold and I have no doubt Hellboy II: The Golden Army will be equally as good, especially with the return of the entire principle cast. Here is the official trailer for Hellboy II due in theaters July 11, 2008.

Below are the first three teaser promotional posters for Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The online versions don’t really do the promo posters justice though. I saw gigantic wall tapestries of the posters at my local movie theater this past weekend and they looked even cooler blown up.

Here’s the Ron Perlman as Hellboy poster.
