Chris Bosh Custom Munny by MAD

I saw this custom CB4 Munny yesterday on MAD's twitter and thought it was way too cool not to share. Chris Bosh, who is number 4 on the Toronto Raptors and won a gold medal last summer as part of Team USA’s Men’s Basketball Team, personally commissioned this hand painted custom CB4 Munny from MAD. How cool is that!?!

CB4 Custom Munny by MAD for Toronto Raptors Superstar Chris Bosh
Chris Bosh is one of The Blot’s favorite young NBA superstars, as much for his bigger than life personality than his on court game (which are both equally impressive). Not only does this confirm Bosh has great taste, it also shows he’s hip to the designer vinyl craze. The Blot can now add this little tidbit to the long list of reasons I'm a fan of CB4.

The Seattle SuperSonics Are Renamed The Oklahoma City Thunder!?!

I don’t know what the NBA’s problem is, but someone needs to start regulating the names of their franchises. The new name for the franchise formerly known as the Seattle Sonics, the OKC Thunder, is horrendous! (link) The Thunder is not the name of a once proud NBA team. In fact, it should never be the name of any major league professional sports team.

Oklahoma City Thunder Owner Clay Bennett Unveils The Franchise's New Name, Logo and ColorsThe nickname Thunder is the name of a Minor League Baseball team, or a defunct NFL Europe team (i.e. the Berlin Thunder) or even a few defunct Arena Football Teams (i.e. the Columbus Thunderbolts, the Cleveland Thunderbolts, or the Houston ThunderBears). But under no circumstances should Commissioner David Stern have ever allowed the Oklahoma City team to be named the Thunder. I just cannot believe this is happening, but I guess it’s better than the alternatives. Other names in the running were Wind, Barons, Marshalls, Energy and Bison. Not a single good name in the mix!

Oklahoma City Thunder Forward Damien Wilkins Holds Up Official Team MerchandiseThe Toronto expansion franchise started a horrible trend in 1995 when they decided to name their team the Raptors due to the popularity of Jurassic Park. I mean come on, had anyone ever even heard of a raptor before that movie came out? The name is beyond dated. Then the NBA let their 2004 Charlotte expansion franchise name its team after its owner Robert L. Johnson, and now we have the Bobcats. I don’t care what anyone tells me, the “fan vote” was rigged and the fact that “the bobcat is one of the few indigenous predators to the Carolinas” is just an excuse for Bob Johnson to have named his team the Bob-cats. (link)

I thought the Toronto Raptors and the Charlotte Bobcats were bad names, but now those teams look great compared to the Thunder. It’s not even plural! Arrrhhh! The other thing I don’t understand is why the Charlotte Bobcats and the Oklahoma City Thunder couldn’t decide on team colors. Both teams spent a lot of money on designing a team name, logo and colors, and yet they couldn’t even decide on a final two. No, these teams thought they’d be cute and just claim any number of colors they thought might look good together.

Oklahoma City Thunder Players Damien Wilkins and Desmond Mason Unveil the Team's New Name, Logo and ColorsYou see the Charlotte Bobcats’ colors are Bobcat Orange, Silver, Blue and Black, while the Oklahoma City Thunder’s colors are Light Blue, Orange, Navy Blue and Gold. Don’t they know that any respectable franchise only has two colors!?! At most a team throws in an alternate third color or maybe an unofficial secondary color like black and white, but not every color under the rainbow. I think this is going to backfire and eventually the team is going to have to settle on two (or maybe three) like the rest of the NBA, the NFL and MLB. After all of this, I can’t wait to see how bad the OKC Thunder’s jerseys are going to look. All I know is I feel sorry for Kevin Durant. I guess he should have stayed in college for one more year.

Chris Bosh Wants Your Vote!

NBA 2008 All-Star Game LogoThe Blot saw this on Yahoo Sports today and thought it was too funny not to share. It’s a YouTube video created by Toronto Raptors All-Star forward Chris Bosh stumping for your vote for this year’s NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans. The guy wants to be a starter on this year’s East All-Star squad and the only way to do so is by winning the fan vote at your position.

Chris Bosh

The problem is Bosh is going up against two huge superstars at his position, Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics and LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Honestly, there’s no way Bosh beats the two of them out considering that a) they’re two of the biggest stars in the NBA and b) they are already the leading vote getters in the Eastern Conference. (link) But, after seeing this video he’ll definitely be getting my vote. It took a lot of creativity and guts to put this together, and with Bosh averaging 20 points and 9 rebounds a game this year he is at least a lock to make his third All-Star team.

Go here to cast your vote for Chris Bosh to start in this year’s NBA All-Star Game.
