WonderCon 13 Exclusive Aardman Classic Batman & Robin Action Figure 2 Pack by DC Collectibles

The Blot totally missed this release from earlier the year. I guess that’s what happens when you and your wife are off having twins! DC Collectibles teamed up with Graphitti Designs to release this Aardman Studios Classic Batman 2 Pack based on the popular shorts that air every Saturday as part of the DC Nation programming block on Cartoon Network. This boxed set includes a 6.375” blue and grey Batman vinyl figure and a 9.5” Robin that look like they were pulled straight from the stop-motion animated short. While these were originally available exclusively at WonderCon 2013 and C2E2 2013, they can now be purchased from Graphitti Designs’ online store for $39.95.

What The Blot really wants to know is whether or not these Aardman Animations x DC Comics action figures are actually popular!?! I honestly have not heard a single good thing about them from collectors, but DC Collectibles keeps on producing more. Personally, I think they’re pretty cool looking (I love that stop-motion animation style) but even that isn’t driving me to buy any of them. They all seem a little over priced. For San Diego Comic-Con 2013 DC Collectibles is releasing a new Aardman style Superman action figure at New York Comic-Con 2012 based on the hilarious DC Nation stop-motion animated shorts that have been running on the Cartoon Network. What I can’t tell is whether this figure is actually any different than the Aardman Superman figure included in the previously released DC Nation Aardman Animations Action Figure 5 Pack.

The Blot seriously does not get what DC Collectibles is doing with this line of Aardman Animations action figures. I love these Wallace and Gromit versions of DC Comics heroes and villains based on their appearances in the hilarious DC Nation stop-motion animated shorts that have been running on the Cartoon Network this past year, but why do they continue to release the same Batman figure over and over again? What fan wants to keep buying the exact same, expensive Batman figure just to get other characters. At least give us slightly different versions of the Caped Crusader. If I was someone that bought the original NYCC Aaardman Batman I’d be really ticked off it’s been repackaged as part of this DC Nation Aardman 5 piece set.

This DC Nation Aardman Studios 5 Pack includes stylized action figures of Batman, Superman, The Joker, Catwoman and Robin. While this set is not scheduled to hit stores until September 2013, you can pre-order these figures from Entertainment Earth for $67.99 per set here.

Ok, The Blot really hopes the leaked image above of DC Collectibles upcoming Aardman Batman and Robin Action Figure 2 Pack is not the final product. If it is, then this set is just a repackaging of the NYCC 2012 Exclusive Aardman Batman action figure with the all new Aardman Robin. This news is kind of a disappointment for those collectors who spent the money on the limited edition New York Comic-Con figure! For this release DC Comics’ Dynamic Duo have been recreated in the style of Wallace and Gromit by Aardman Animations based on their appearances in the hilarious DC Nation stop-motion animated shorts that have been running on the Cartoon Network this past year.

This Aardman Studios Batman 2-Pack includes a 6” Batman vinyl figure and a 7” Robin, making for a truly unique take on DC’s Dark Knight and Boy Wonder. While this set is not scheduled to hit stores until March 2013, you can pre-order these figures from Entertainment Earth for $44.99 per set here.

NYCC 2012 Exclusive Aardman Batman Action Figure

The Blot can honestly say this is one release I never saw coming. DC Collectibles is releasing a new Aardman style Batman action figure at New York Comic-Con 2012 based on the hilarious DC Nation stop-motion animated shorts that have been running on the Cartoon Network this past year during DC Comics' block of programming. Designed by Rich Webber and sculpted by Phil Ramirez, the Aardman Batman action figure is a spot on replica of the figures used to make the DC Nation shorts. And if you think this little Batman figure looks like something out of a Wallace and Gromit cartoon, you’d be right! Aardman Animations is the same British animation studios that created the Wallace and Gromit series.
