Edgar Wright Live! at The Alamo Drafthouse Screen Print by Kevin Tong

Edgar Wright Live! Screen Print by Kevin Tong

This weekend in Austin, director Edgar Wright is presenting all three of his films to open the brand new Alamo Drafthouse on Slaughter Lane. If you don’t know, this includes Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Hot Fuzz, all three instant classics in The Blot’s book. To commemorate this exciting event, Kevin Tong has been commissioned to create a screen print for the event and it rocks! Everyone coming to any one of Edgar’s four screenings will be able to buy the poster, and The Blot is really holding out hope a few of these make it to Mondo’s online store eventually.

If you’re in Austin this weekend I really hope you’ve got tickets to this very special event at the Alamo Drafthouse’s brand new theater on Slaughter Lane. If not, the only show not sold out is the dinner screening of Scott Pilgrim at 7:15. So buy a ticket while you still can (and pick up a print for The Blot while you’re there!).

Click on the photo above for a more detailed look
Last night there was an incredible event at Alamo Drafthouse, a screening of the classic John Carpenter movie They Live hosted by Shepard Fairey! By now everyone knows of my love of They Live and Obey Giant, so you can just imagine how desperately I wanted to be at the screening. Sadly, sometimes live gets in the way of the fun stuff. Thankfully Fairey also teamed up with Mondo to create a poster to commemorate the special event! Now we can all pretend we were at the event by hanging one of these bad boys on your wall.

"They Live" by Shepard Fairey is an 18″x24″ screen print and has limited edition run size of 500 prints. The print will retail for $50 and go on sale at a random time today, Friday, June 10th, at the Mondo online store. If for some reason you miss out on today’s drop, fear not! Fairey will be releasing an alternate They Live screen print colorway on ObeyGiant.com at a later date.

Steamboat Willie Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Check out this awesome "Steamboat Willie" screen print by Tom Whalen and the fine folks at Mondo Tees. First Star Trek, then Star Wars and now…Disney! Is there anyone Mondo isn’t working with? Signing licensing deals with Lucas and Disney are really about as big as it gets, and I can’t wait to see what Mondo has in store for us next.

Mondo Tees - Steamboat Willie Disney Screen Print by Tom Whalen

As you are probably already aware, Steamboat Willis is a historic cartoon because it features the first ever appearance of Mickey Mouse! The animated short first debuted on November 18, 1928 and also featured Peg-Leg Pete and Minnie Mouse, both of which are featured with Mickey in the poster seen above. The Blot’s been unable to find out if this print is being released in conjunction with a Steamboat Willie screening at the Alamo Drafthouse or if this is the 1st in a new series of Disney screen prints by Mondo. But I’ll be sure to post more info as soon as it becomes available.

Steamboat Willie” by Tom Whalen is an 18"x24" four color screen print on light grey stock with metallic inks. This print has a limited edition run size of 200 pieces and will retail for $40 each. “Steamboat Willie” goes on sale at a random time today, Friday, February 25th, at the Mondo online store. A variant of this print will be sold by Sideshow Collectibles at a later date.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Screen Print by Jeff Proctor

Regular Edition Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Screen Print by Jeff Proctor

Is it me or does the Alamo Drafthouse’s Mondo Tees only release killer prints!?! I can’t remember the last bad screen print they’ve produced, and tomorrow’s release is no exception. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” by Jeff Proctor was originally made to commemorate Alamo’s pizza party / screening of the 1990 live action TMNT film on November 30, 2010, and is only now being sold to the general public.

Variant Edition Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Screen Print by Jeff Proctor

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” by Jeff Proctor is a hand numbered 24“x36” screen print with metallic inks. The Regular Edition TMNT print has a limited edition run size of 155 pieces and will retail for $40 each, while the Variant Edition has a limited edition run size of 55 pieces and will retail for $65 each. These screen prints can be purchased directly from Mondo's online store later today, Thursday, January 20th, at a random time.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Screen Print by Martin Ansin

In conjunction with the Ain’t It Cool News / Fantastic Fest screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World in Austin at the Alamo Drafthouse last night, Mondo has teamed up with Universal to create two very special Scott Pilgrim screen prints by Martin Ansin!

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Screen Print by Martin Ansin
Along with the beautiful Scott Pilgrim vs. The World screen print above, Ansin has also created an extremely limited edition Nega Scott Variant Screen Print! The Nega Scott Variant features Scott Pilgrim’s alter ego from the movie and a new red color scheme. However, this is not your typical variant that only differs from the original in color. The Nega Scott Variant also has different line work and shading from the original print and includes metallic inks. So instead of just a red colorway, this variant is practically a new print!

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Nega Scott Red Variant Screen Print by Martin Ansin
Both Scott Pilgrim vs. The World 24”x36” screen prints by Martin Ansin went on sale at the screening last night in Austin, but any remaining prints will go on sale today, Friday, August 13th, at the Mondo online store at a random time. Stay tuned to the Mondo blog and Twitter account for sale announcements and some Scott Pilgrim surprises!

2010 Rolling Roadshow Movie Screen Print Series by Olly Moss

Throughout August’s hazy summer nights, the Alamo Drafthouse and Levi’s will be taking the Rolling Roadshow to the people under the unified banner of “We Are All Workers.” Rooted by one of the nation’s founding principles, “We Are All Workers” hits the road with nine seminal screenings proving that everybody’s work is equally important. True to form, each screening will be in the location where the film was shot or set.

2010 Rolling Roadshow Screen Print Series - There Will be Blood by Olly Moss
What’s even cooler is that Alamo has commissioned Olly Moss to design a movie poster for each tour stop of the Rolling Roadshow. Each 2 color poster features Olly’s classic retro minimalistic feel and trademark orange and black color scheme on cream colored paper. Not much is currently know about these amazing looking movie posters, but I’d be willing to bet just about anything we see these images released as screen prints by Mondo sometime in the near future…possibly even at their corresponding Rolling Roadshow tour stops!

2010 Rolling Roadshow Screen Print Series - Rocky by Olly Moss
2010 Rolling Roadshow Screen Print Series - The Blues Brothers by Olly Moss
Inspired by the spirit of the American worker, the Alamo Drafthouse and Levi’s have curated an eclectic line up that ranges from the birth of the oil nation in Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood to the futuristic corporate nightmare of Paul Verhoven’s Robocop. Championship contenders are crowned and humbled as Sylvester Stallone embarks on an epic Rocky-thon on the Liberty Steps, while Marlon Brando is washed-up On The Waterfront of the New Jersey docks.

2010 Rolling Roadshow Screen Print Series - Robocop by Olly Moss
2010 Rolling Roadshow Screen Print Series - Dirty Harry by Olly Moss
Law breakers are saluted as Dirty Harry takes to San Francisco’s Washington Square Park, Quentin Tarantino with Jackie Brown, and Chicago’s finest, The Blues Brothers, tear their musical mission from God across the country. Closing out the Roadshow is the defining immigrant worker story of The Godfather: Part II which will screen from the rooftops and chimney stacks of New York’s Little Italy.

2010 Rolling Roadshow Screen Print Series - Jackie Brown by Olly Moss
2010 Rolling Roadshow Screen Print Series - On The Waterfront by Olly Moss
All Rolling Roadshow “We Are All Workers” screenings are free, open to the public and will be accompanied by related events at each location. Iron Man 2 Metal Variant Poster by Tyler Stout

Mondo Tees - Iron Man 2 Metal Variant Poster by Tyler Stout
It’s rare that The Blot gets really blown away by a release, but I was when I saw the photos of Tyler Stout’s limited edition 24″x36″ Iron Man 2 Metal Variant Poster on Mondo Tee’s blog. This poster looks amazing! It’s just too bad I’ll probably never see one of these in person. Here’s hoping Stout puts a few of these up for sale on his website.

Mondo Tees - Iron Man 2 Metal Variant Poster by Tyler Stout
If you’ve been following the Mondo Tees blog, then you know they’ve recently renovated their storefront. Mondo officially reopens tomorrow, June 4th, and to celebrate the remodel they will be releasing the all metal variant of Tyler Stout’s Iron Man 2 poster. These are just sick posters, and Tyler even stopped by D&L to sign them! You can see the original two versions of Tyler Stout’s Iron Man 2 screen prints here.

Mondo Tees - Iron Man 2 Metal Variant Poster by Tyler Stout
These IM2 metal variants will strictly be an in-store exclusive, meaning they can only be purchased in person at Mondo’s Austin storefront, and have a limited edition run size of just 65 pieces. There will be no phone orders for this release and Mondo will not be shipping these to anyone. Doors open up at 5pm tomorrow, so be sure to get there early for one of these amazing posters.

The Evil Dead Screen Print & T-Shirts by Olly Moss

Last night, the Alamo Drafthouse held a special screening of one of The Blot’s favorite movies, The Evil Dead starring Bruce Campbell as Ash and directed by Sam Raimi. To commemorate the event, the Alamo Drafthouse commissioned Olly Moss to create a brand new The Evil Dead screen print and matching t-shirt!

The Evil Dead Screen Print by Olly Moss
Moss’ The Evil Dead screen print looks amazing and I’m really hoping his t-shirt didn’t sell out last night at the screening so I might have a chance to purchase one at MondTess.com.

The Evild Dead T-Shirts by Olly Moss
No word yet on when Olly Moss’ The Evil Dead screen prints and t-shirts will be going on sale, but I would imagine it will happen this Friday at Mondo Tees’ online store.

Iron Man 2 Screen Print by Mike Saputo

To commemorate the exclusive screening of Iron Man 2 at the Alamo Drafthouse on April 26th, the Alamo Drafthouse commissioned two awesome looking movie screen prints, one by Tyler Stout (seen here) and the other by Mike Saputo. While Stout’s Iron Man 2 print feels much more like a movie poster to me, I really dig Saputo’s screen print because of the way it looks and feels like something you would see on a comic book cover.

Iron Man 2 Screen Print by Mike Saputo
The Blot especially really likes the way Saputo depicts Iron Man and War Machine in the throes of battle against Whiplash and his electric whips. Mike Saputo’s Iron Man 2 print measures 24”x36” and is a 6 color screen print, including red and gold metallic inks. The run size and price of Mike’s tribute to the Armored Avenger is currently unknown.

While these prints went on sale at Mondo Tees yesterday (in store only), they will eventually go on sale at the Mondo Tees online store and directly from the artist.

Iron Man 2 premiers in theaters on May 7, 2010.

Iron Man 2 Screen Print by Tyler Stout

To commemorate the exclusive screening of Iron Man 2 at the Alamo Drafthouse on April 26th, the Alamo Drafthouse commissioned two very cool looking limited edition movie screen prints. The first is by Tyler Stout and it’s a beauty! Tyler has consistently produced some of the finest movie screen prints over the past two years, and his Iron Man 2 print is no exception (and wouldn’t it look killer next to his Lost screen print “LOST”?).

Iron Man 2 Screen Print by Tyler Stout
As a comic book fan, this Stout Iron Man 2 screen print is a must get. I love the way he was able to highlight every main character in the film without taking away from the print’s central figure, Iron Man. I’m also really digging the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo Tyler included in the top left corner right under Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow.

Iron Man 2 Variant Screen Print by Tyler Stout
There are actually two versions of Tyler Stout’s 24”x36” Iron Man 2 screen print (which is freaking huge by the way). The standard version is a 6 color screen print with metallics, was printed on cream paper, has an edition size of 515 and sells for $40 each. The glow in the dark variant Iron Man 2 screen print features 7 colors, including glow inks! The Variant Iron Man 2 screen print is has an even small run size of 130 and will retail for $80 each.

While these prints went on sale at Mondo Tees yesterday (in store only), they will eventually go on sale online at the Mondo Tees online store and at Tyler Stout’s website.

Iron Man 2 premiers in theaters on May 7, 2010. The 2nd Iron Man 2 screen print by Mike Saputo can be seen here.
