G.I. Joe: The Movie Screen Print by Anthony Petrie x Bottleneck Gallery

Bottleneck Gallery teamed up with artist Anthony Petrie to release a new movie poster for one of The Blot’s all time favorite films, G.I. Joe: The Movie! This ‘80s animated classic is a must watch for any fans of the G.I. Joe franchise. As BNG explained, “Anthony’s print captures the magic of watching the movie and seeing so many characters from the series, all in one place, and the epic toys that the movie helped establish. Anthony is a master of switching up his art style, and the red, white, and blue color palette is a perfect choice for this alternative movie poster!”

G.I. Joe: The Movie by Anthony Petrie is an 18”x24” hand numbered screen print. The Regular Edition is limited to 100 pieces and retailed for $45, the Fatigues Variant is limited to 100 pieces and retailed for $55, and the Foil Variant is limited to 85 pieces and retailed for $55. All three G.I. Joe movie posters went on sale at 12pm ET on Wednesday, June 25th, at BottleneckGallery.com before promptly selling out.

SDCC 2023 Exclusive G.I. Joe ReAction, Ultimates! & Super Cyborg Action Figures by Super7

Super7 is preparing for a return visit to San Diego Comic-Con later this month and they have a ton of crazy exclusives lined up, including six different SDCC 2023 Exclusive G.I. Joe Action Figure releases! All of these will be available at Super7’s Cobra Global Operations pop-up shop at the Super7 San Diego store at 701 8th Avenue every day of Comic-Con. First up are these insane Comic-Con 2023 Exclusive Rednok Baroness and Red Jackal Destro Ultimates! Variant Action Figures! The Red Jackal was a member of the Red Shadows who fought against the Action Force as depicted in the UK Battle Action Force comic books, while Rednok was an India repaint of the G.I. Next up is the SDCC 2023 Exclusive G.I. Joe City of the Dead ReAction Figure Box Set, which was inspired by the Ancient Guardians from “The Pyramid of Darkness: Part 3” episode of the 1985 G.I. SDCC 2021 Exclusive G.I. Joe Pin Sets by Icon Heroes x Previews

It’s May and you know what that means… it’s time for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con exclusives to start being announced!  Even though Comic-Con 2021 may not be taking place this year (again), there are still some really cool SDCC 2021 exclusives being released online.  For instance, Previews is releasing these two awesome San Diego Comic-Con 2021 Exclusive G.I. The Blot is a huge fan of any release featuring the “Profit Director” version of Destro, which is more famously known as “Pimp Daddy” Destro! The Blot’s a huge sucker for a good Destro inspired color scheme, and Healeymade killed it with this awesome “Weapons Manufacturer” Edition Quackula vinyl figure! This G.I. Joe colorway is available now at the Healeymade online store for $130 each. The “Weapons Manufacturer” Quackula stands 7”, is cast in soft Japanese vinyl, and features black and red sprays with a shiny silver metallic head.

NYCC 13 Exclusive G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Screen Prints by Tom Whalen

Acid Free Gallery is releasing 10 amazing, officially licensed screen prints exclusively at New York Comic Con 2013! My favorite of the bunch is this beautiful G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero print by Tom Whalen, which is based on my all time favorite ‘80s cartoon of the same name. Seriously, is there anything better than Hasbro’s RAH cartoon? This print has it all, Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Cobra Commander, Destro, The Baroness and Major Blood. It’s even got the OG Gung Ho in it. The only thing it’s missing? Shipwreck with his bird Polly! Ok, and maybe Zartan. Either way, this is definitely one of The Blot's must gets from NYCC 2013.

“G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” by Tom Whalen is an 18”x24” 7 color screen print. The Standard Edition has a limited edition run size of 183 pieces, comes hand numbered and will retail for $50 each, while the Variant is limited to 83 pieces, comes hand signed and numbered by the artist, and will retail for $65. SDCC 13 Exclusive Iron Grenadiers Destro & Gold Cobra Commander G.I. Joe Mini Figure Box Set by The Loyal Subjects

If you're going to maliciously take over the world you should do it in style! The Loyal Subjects is releasing this awesome San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive G.I. Joe Mini Figure Box Set featuring two COBRA variants, Iron Grenadiers Destro and Gold Cobra Commander. The Blot’s always been a huge fan of the gold Iron Grenadiers look for Destro and the golden dome Cobra Commander is pretty fantastic! Personally I’m glad to see these versions get a special SDCC 2013 release instead of being included as chase variants in TLS’ possibly upcoming G.I. Joe Mini Figure Blind Box Series 2. Each figure in this set stands 3” tall and only 500 were made so good luck snagging this golden set!

G.I. Joe Mini Figure Series 1 by The Loyal Subjects

The Loyal Subjects and teamed up with Hasbro to release a new G.I. Joe blind boxed mini figure series! Designed by Les Schettkoe, Series 1 includes some of your favorite characters from G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero: Snake Eyes, Duke, Cobra Commander, Destro, Storm Shadow, Zartan, Gung-Ho, Snow Job and three chase figures. One of the chases is a Hooded Cobra Commander figure, which you can see in the photo I took of this series at Designer Con 2012.

The Blot had high expectations for this series when I first learned about it a few months ago, but after seeing these figures in person at DCon I’m really unimpressed. They’re basically better sculpted Mighty Muggs, and look about on par with Mez-Itz. To me their arms look really disproportioned to their bodies and their heads are gigantic. I never thought I’d long for a 3” blind box series akin to Kidrobot’s licensed min figure series. It’s amazing how up and down The Loyal Subjects Hasbro products have been so far. The only release I’ve really liked so far are the skate decks. Here’s hoping the Transformers mini figure series is better.

The G.I. Joe Mini Figure Series 1 includes 11 characters in all, each feature multiple points of articulation and includes character specific accessories and weapons. All weapons and accessories are interchangeable, and each figure even has the old school peg hole in its back so they can all wear backpacks. Also, each figure is guaranteed 2 per case so it sounds like you can definitely complete at least one if not two sets per case.

G.I. Joe Blindbox Mini Series 1 is not scheduled to ship until February 2013, but you can pre-order them now though The Loyal Subject’s online store. Each blind box retails for $12.99 or you can purchase a case for $208 (although the TLS website does not state how many blind boxes that includes).

Transformers & G.I. Joe Skateboard Decks by The Loyal Subjects

Ever since I first saw those Transformers chibi style t-shirts from The Loyal Subjects I was really worried about the direct TLS was going to take their new Hasbro license. Thankfully, they’ve teamed up with some killer artists to produce a new line of killer Transformers and G.I. Joe skate decks! These new skateboards are the right mix of retro cool and pop art that that’s right up The Blot’s alley. And while his name’s not attached to the release, I’d recognize Sket One’s word art on the Megatron skateboard deck anywhere! According to his Instagram account Sket also designed the awesome Soundwave and Grimlock decks as well.

The Hasbro x The Loyal Subjects Transformers Skateboard Deck Series 1 includes designs featuring Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Grimlock and “Megatron vs. Prime.” The Hasbro x The Loyal Subjects G.I. Joe Skateboard Deck Series 1 includes designs featuring Cobra Commander, Destro, Snake Eyes, “Blind Sword” Snake Eyes, and “Cobra Assassin” Storm Shadow. What I really love about this G.I. Joe line is how TLS incorporated the old school G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero packaging art from the 80’s on these decks!

Each skate deck measures 8.25” and is made from maple wood harvested from the Great Lakes region. While a few of the G.I. Joe skateboards are currently retailing for $55 at The Loyal Subjects’ online store, the rest should be popping up in stores everywhere in January 2013.

NYCC 12 Exclusive G.I. Joe Screen Prints by Dave Perillo
