Universal Monsters Frankenstein & Dracula Prints by Greg Staples x Vice Press x Bottleneck Gallery

Today, Vice Press and Bottleneck Gallery are launching a new series of limited edition Universal Monsters movie posters and art prints by British artist Greg Staples!  Check out Staples beautifully ghoulish paintings of classic Universal Monsters Frankenstein and Dracula.  As BNG explained, “Greg’s renditions of Frankenstein and Dracula offer intense character studies of the two of film’s greatest creatures, focusing on the unbelievable makeup, costume work, and character work surrounding lead monsters Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi.”

“For me the classic Universal Monster films have been engrained into me since I was a child, not only with their legendary visual design and makeup but because they are almost not of this world. To me they are the purest form of escapism and something that simply couldn’t be made in this day and age. Mondo is all amount Halloween this October, and they’ve dropped a ton of awesome horror themed releases the past few weeks. The Blot is seriously blown away by Jonathan Burton’s MondoCon exclusive movie poster screen print for the original 1931 Dracula film! It looks fantastic, and I can’t get over how Burton was able to perfectly recreate Bela Lugosi’s dangerous, yet elegant, look in the film. It’s still the gold standard that all other Dracula films are held too and this is definitely a fitting tribute to that iconic movie. Mondo will be releasing this officially licensed movie poster at their MondoCon 2 booth this weekend.

The MondoCon Exclusive Dracula by Jonathan Burton is a 24”x36” 8 color movie poster screen print. Dracula Screen Print by Martin Ansin

If you can remember way back to the beginning of 2011, Mondo’s first release was the amazing Dracula poster by Aaron Horkey and Vania. Well, Mondo got so many emails asking, "Where's Lugosi?!" Well, to properly bookend the year, Mondo is releasing its second Dracula poster of 2011 featuring Bela Lugosi and produced by Martin Ansin. But don't worry, this isn't the end of Mondo's Universal Monsters Screen Print Series.  The Austin based company has huge plans for it in 2012!

What’s awesome about Mondo’s final release of 2011 is the three different versions they produced of it. First up is the Blood Red Regular Edition. Then there is the rare Metallic Ink Black and White Variant. And last but not least is something very special…a Transylvanian coffin shaped poster on wood with a super low edition!

Dracula by Martin Ansin is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. The Blood Red Regular Edition has a limited edition run size of 350 pieces and retails for $45, while the Metallic Ink Black and White Variant has a run size of 100 pieces and retails for $85.
