This week Umi Toys Hawaii will be releasing a new colorway of Martin Hsu’s adorable Dragon Boy Super vinyl figure with his sidekick Dragon Dog!  The Designer Con 2020 Exclusive Bubble Blast Dragon Boy Super vinyl figure set is limited to just 60 pieces and will retail for $75.  Produced by VTSS Toys, Dragon Boy is 5” tall, while Dragon Dog is 3” tall, and both figures and the box will come signed by Martin Hsu.  A small number of figures are available now at MartinHsu.bigcartel.com/category/dcon2020, while the rest will go on sale this weekend via the Pop Shop Live mobile app or popshop.live (Shop code: UMITOY).

SDCC 2019 Dragon Boy Super League Valkyrie Edition Vinyl Figure Set by Martin Hsu x Woot Bear

Check it out, Martin Hsu’s newest vinyl figure – Dragon Boy Super League – will be making its world debut this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con 2019! The Woot Bear exclusive Valkyrie Edition Dragon Boy is a two piece set including a boy and his dog is limited to just 60 pieces and can be purchased during Martin’s signing at 3pm on Friday, July 19th, at the Hyperactive Monkey SDCC booth #2547.

But that’s not all! Martin will also be releasing his OG Edition Dragon Boy Super League at his SDCC booth #4530. Only 20 sets of this colorway’s edition of 60 will be available.

SDCC 13 Exclusive Prisim Dragon Boy by Martin Hsu

Martin Hsu’s awesome Dragon Boy returns to SDCC in a beautiful new colorway thanks to the folks at Bait! The San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Prisim Dragon Boy vinyl figure stands 10” tall and features a sharp blue and magenta color scheme. Limited to just 88 pieces (with only 24 available at SDCC), the Prisim Dragon Boy by Martin Hsu can be purchased exclusively from Bait’s SDCC booth #4632 for $100 each.

"Dragon Boy" a solo exhibit featuring the works of Martin Hsu

This Saturday, January 14th, opens a solo exhibit at Dragatomi that I know a lot of art fans have been anxiously waiting for! “Dragon Boy” features a series of paintings by San Francisco artist Martin Hsu depicting the adventures of a boy in dragon suit on his way to find his roots in a foreign land. With Blackie, his kirin dog, by his side, they travel between reality and fantasy. They fly over the tallest of mountains and dive into the deepest of rivers while making new friends with magical creatures of all kinds. Dragon Boy aims to remind everyone to never forget the joy of being a kid, flying high, and smiling big!

The show sounds amazing, but what has The Blot super excited is news that Martin will be debuting a prototype of his upcoming "Dragon Boy" designer toy at the show! "Dragon Boy" opens this Saturday, January 14th, from 7 - 10 pm and will continue to be on display until February 4th, 2012 at Sacramento’s Dragatomi (2317 J Street; Sacramento, CA 95816).

Dragon Boy Vinyl Figure by Sam Flores

The Blot’s been a huge admirer of Sam Flores art for a long time now, and his Fatima and Tiger Baby figures are part of the reason I became a collector of designer vinyl in the first place. For a number of different reasons I’ve never gotten any of the many Fatima or Tiger Baby colorways, so I’m more than a little excited at the opportunity to pre-order Flores newest figure, Dragon Boy.


Known for his signature characters based on Asian motifs, Sam Flores has a unique style that translates remarkably well to vinyl. Unlike most vinyl toys, Dragon Boy is made up of three separate pieces giving the illusion of a dragon floating through the clouds. As you can see from the picture above it is truly a stunning piece. What’s really cool about this figure is how detailed it is. The color on the dragon really pops due to its detailed, gradient blends.

The Dragon Boy vinyl figure is 10” tall and has a limited run of 500 units. Sam Flores’ Dragon Boy was created for Upper Playground’s 10th Anniversary and is currently available at the Upper Playground online store for presale (limited to 2 items per customer). Expect Dragon Boy to ship sometime in late-August or early-September.
