Ecto-1 Custom Ghostbusters Fatcap by Sket One

Yesterday Sket One made the entire designer art toy world drool simultaneous with his unexpected release of this amazing Ecto-1 Custom Fatcap based on the Ghostbusters’s signature vehicle. How freaking awesome is this one of a kind 8” custom vinyl figure? Not only does is its head a real working light, but features the Ghostbusters logo and includes a Ghostbusters PKE Meter and a Ghost Trap! It’s freaking ingenious if you ask me.

The Ecto-1 Custom Ghostbusters Fatcap vinyl figure by Sket One retailed for $550 through the Sket One online store, but sold out immediately upon release. There’s still some awesome stuff in his online store though so definitely go check it out!

NYCC 12 Exclusive Gunny Series 1 Custom Dunnys by Josh Mayhem

Josh Mayhem has been producing some amazing mechanical custom vinyl figures for a while now, and every release blows me away with all the details he includes on his pieces. While I’ve never been into Gundam Wing, I was totally blown away by Josh’s new Gunny Series 1. This series of custom 3” Dunnys and Fatcaps is based on the hit Japanese anime series and each piece that I’ve seen really looks spot on!

New York Comic-Con 2012 Exclusive Gunny Series 1 will be available throughout the convention at Tenacious Toys’ NYCC booth #3121.

NYPD & LAPD Custom 8” Fatcaps by Sket One

It’s been a few months since we’ve seen a custom release by Sket One, and now we know why! Sket’s been hard at work on two different sets of fully functioning custom Fatcaps based on his NYPD Fatcap Series 2 design (which, ironically, was based on a 20” custom Fatcap he made in 2006). Since Sket has roots in both New York and Los Angeles, he decided to create two 10 piece runs repping both cities and their police forces!

Each NYPD and LAPD 8” custom Fatcap features a functioning police light that shines and rotates, includes a custom billy club and crash guard, and comes signed and numbered by the artist. How freaking awesome is that!?!? Both sets of customs go on sale this Friday, June 22nd, at 12pm EST at Sket’s official online store. This is definitely one release you will not want to sleep on!

Totem 6" FatCap by Kronk

With an over-inflated sense of awesomeness and a love for dicey online casino games and XXX reading material, the Totem FatCap by Kronk consumes technology like bandwidth grows on trees. The Blot loves that Kidrobot has dedicated itself to continue to release new FatCap figures, including two awesome 6” FatCaps in the last few months. Kronk is definitely one of the most popular artists in the designer art toy scene these days, and I know his devoted fans are going to eat up this newest release.

The Totem FatCap by Kronk is 6 inches of vinyl symbolism, enshrining the evils of vanity, lust and greed on the iconic FatCap platform. Here to serve as a symbolic reminder to avoid leading self-celebrating lives, this totem’s old natural tones have transformed into a new electric vinyl palette – purple, turquoise, orange and pink. Beginning May 10, only 900 of this misguided Totem FatCap will be available for purchase at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com, and select retailers worldwide for just $75.

Super Fattie 6” FatCap by Queen Andrea

The Blot is super pumped to learn Kidrobot will be releasing a new 6 inch FatCap, their first since 2009! Titillating to the eye, the Super Fattie FatCap by NY artist Queen Andrea is covered to the last millimeter in amazing graphic patterns and graffiti styles. Super Fattie is an intensely detailed and hyper-colored display of the Queen’s skills. Queen Andrea’s palette of electric blues and vibrant greens makes this figure pop, and the purple and gray chase is equally beautiful, though much more rare with a ratio of 1 in 6.

The Super Fattie 6” FatCap by Queen Andrea has a limited edition run size of 1,000 pieces and will go on sale blind box style Thursday, March 22nd at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com and select retailers worldwide for $60 each.

kaNO “Postal” Fatcap AP Sets

On Friday kaNO released his Fatcap Series 3 Artist Proof sets and they were pretty freaking sweet to say the least! Each set included 1 signed and numbered “Postal” Fatcap with marker accessory, 1 USPS 1/34 scale Dub City Truck customized and numbered by kaNO, 1 kaNO Art Hustle AP artist card and 1 kaNO Art Hustle AP art card. Ten sets were created in all, each retailing for $60 each at kaNO’s online store. Sadly for most of us, these sets sold out in a hot minute.

“Cover The Cap” FatCap Artist Proof Sets by Sket One

Last night Sket One released what is sure to be one of the hottest Artist Proof Sets around! Sket is selling the artist proofs of his standard LA Edition “Cover The Cap” FatCap and the North America Exclusive Case Incentive Gold “Cover The Cap” FatCap from Kidrobot's FatCap Series 3 for a very special AP set. FatCap Series 3 Case Incentive Exclusives by Sket One & Scribe

We’re just one day away from the official release of Kidrobot’s FatCap Series 3, and to celebrate the release of this exciting new artist series stores across the globe will be holding official trading parties (click here for a list of participating stores). At these parties, collectors can score one of two rare and regional case incentive exclusives by purchasing a case of FatCap Series 3! North American locations will have a very limited amount of Sket One’s Case Exclusive Gold “Cover The Cap” FatCap, while everywhere else will have Scribe’s Case Exclusive Endangered “Almost Gone” FatCap.

The Blot’s really torn on this one. While I think case incentive exclusives are a great idea, I absolutely hate that there’s regional exclusives. It makes it almost impossible for collectors to complete a series without shelling out a ton of for the other regional case incentive exclusive. And where’s the fun in that!?! So in conclusion: case incentive exclusives = good; regional variants of case incentive exclusives = bad.

While this is definitely exciting news, I have a feeling all of the t-shirts and 6” Golden Ticket Toofly FatCaps will be gone by the time I get to Comic Con on Thursday afternoon. But it does make me wonder what other rare figures and Golden Ticket items Kidrobot has stored away in a warehouse somewhere…especially with the news of the Huck Gee GT 3” Dunny giveaway at the KR Dallas grand opening, but more on that later (link).

Kidrobot - SDCC 09 Exclusive Holy Roller 6 Inch FatCap by DEPH

Kidrobot’s second San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusive is the Holy Roller 6” Fatcap designed by Deph and drops on July 24th. Holy Roller comes wearing a gas mask to protect his lungs and conceal his skull face while he destroys walls with his crate of spray paint and extension roller. Holy Roller will be available in two colorways, green and the SDCC 09 exclusive purple.


The Holy Roller FatCap is 6 inches tall, rattles when you shake him just like the real thing and features DEPH’s tag on the back. Each vinyl figure also comes with a DEPH poster. The green Holy Roller FatCaps have a limited edition run of 1200 figures and will be available for sale at SDCC, Kidrobot stores, Kidrobot.com and select retailers, while the purple Holy Roller FatCap will only be available at Kidrobot’s SDCC booth #4529 and is limited to just 200 pieces. Both versions of DEPH’s 6 inch FatCap will retail for $75 each.


Kidrobot will also be hosting a special DEPH signing to commemorate this release. DEPH will be at Kidrobot’s SDCC Booth #4529 on Friday, July 24th from 11am-1pm with a limited number of Holy Roller FatCaps available for signing.

Pon - Custom Dunny and A/P Fatcap Set

There’s a second exciting release also coming out tomorrow, Tuesday, June 17th, and this time it’s from New York artist Pon. As you all know I was really excited about his Feed Fatcap, which was released a few weeks back as a part of Kidrobot’s Fatcap Series 2. Well I had been hoping he’d be selling his Artist Proofs (A/P) sometime soon, and yesterday The Blot found out some exciting news.


Not only will Pon be selling 10 autographed A/Ps, he is pairing each one with a custom hand painted 3” Dunny. (link) According to Pon, the “idea behind the Fatcap is a clean bronze statue with a standard city pigeon sitting on his head with poop all over it. The Dunny is a companion to the Fatcap, but is an aged/dirty bronze statue with an albino pigeon complete with red eyes.” (link)

Kidrobot Fatcap Series 2

Today Kidrobot released their newest line of 3 inch Fatcap designer vinyl figures. Fatcap figures have the same basic body as Kidrobot’s line of Dunny figures, but with a spray cap head (tying the figures to the graffiti community). Fatcap Series 2 includes 17 regular figures plus two rare chase figures by artists such as Bubble Fetishist, Tilt, DOMA, Sket One and MAD.


My personal favorite has to be PON’s Feed Fatcap. This New York artist’s work is really great, and I love his incorporation of Pigeons into everything he does. You can check out more of his work, including this limited edition print he collaborated on with kaNO, at his website Feed The Pigeons.net.
