Edward Scissorhands Pop! Vinyl Figure by Funko

Edward Scissorhands Pop! Movies Vinyl Figure by Funko

Edward Scissorhands, one of the The Blot’s favorite movies, is finally getting the vinyl figure treatment thanks to Funko! The Edward Scissorhands Pop! Movies vinyl figure is pretty sick, it’s amazing how many details Funko included on a 3.75” figure. But what really puts this figure over the top is its eyes. In Edward Scissorhands Johnny Depp conveyed so much emotion through just his eyes, and Funko did a great job recreating that sorrow and isolation in this figure.

The Edward Scissorhands Pop! Movie vinyl figure feature one point of articulation, stands 3.75” tall and come packaged in a full color displayable window box. This figure is currently available in stores everywhere for just $9.99.

Dark Shadows Screen Print by Ghostco

Mondo - Dark Shadows Screen Print by Ghostco

For some reason The Blot just can’t get excited for Tim Burton’s newest film Dark Shadows starring Johnny Depp. I’m a big fan of both Burton and Depp, and usually I can’t wait to see their collaborations in the theater. But for some reason Dark Shadows just isn’t doing it for me. I know I’ll see it eventually, but it doesn’t have that must see vibe to it. I think maybe it’s reminding me a little too much of 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which is my least favorite Burton/Depp film. This Dark Shadows movie poster by Ghostco is pretty sweet though. I love his use of black in this print and he did a great job capturing Depp’s trademark goofy/creepy look in Mondo's latest release.

Dark Shadows by Ghostco is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print, and has a limited edition run size of 270 pieces. The print will retail for $45 and goes on sale at a random time on today, Friday, May 11th, at the Mondo online store.

Disney x Medicom Mickey Mouse as The Mad Hatter Vinyl Figure

Medicom announced its newest collaboration with Disney earlier this week, and this time it’s a tie-in to the hugely successful summer blockbuster Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland. The Blot loved Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in the live action movie adaptation, and Medicom perfectly recreated his look in the film with this Mickey Mouse as The Mad Hatter vinyl collectible doll (VCD). All we need now is a VCD of Mickey Mouse as The Madd Hatter from the classic Disney animated film for a perfect 2 figure set!

Disney x Medicom Mickey Mouse as The Mad Hatter Vinyl Figure

The Disney x Medicom Mickey Mouse as The Mad Hatter vinyl figure is approximately 6 inches tall and will retail for around $85 each. This Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland tie-in is scheduled for release in March 2011.

Disney x Medicom Alice in Wonderland 100% Kubrick & Be@rbrick Set 2

The Blot has no idea why Medicom and Disney have decided to release a second Alice in Wonderland 100% Kubrick & Be@rbrick set, especially since it won’t be released until December 2010 (well after the release of the film on DVD/Bluray). Either way, I’m sure Disney, AiW and Johnny Depp fans will all be very happy to be able to add these two figures to their collections.

Disney x Medicom Alice in Wonderland 100% Kubrick & Be@rbrick Set 2 - Mad Hatter in Blue Jacket Kubrick & White Rabbit Be@rbrick
The Disney x Medicom Alice in Wonderland 100% Kubrick & Be@rbrick Set includes a Mad Hatter in Blue Jacket 100% Kubrick and a White Rabbit 100% Be@rbrick. This Alice in Wonderland movie edition set will retail for around $25-35 each.

Medicom x Disney Alice In Wonderland Cheshire Cat 400% Be@rbrick

We’re just a few days away from the world premiere of Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland! This live action Disney film has been getting very mixed reviews, but nothing can stop me from seeing this movie. Even Burton and Johnny Depp’s worst collaborations are still entertaining. To commemorate the film’s release, Medicom Toy is releasing a 400% Be@rbrick of everyone’s favorite AIW character, the Cheshire Cat! This detailed figure also goes nicely with the Japanese toy company’s Alice In Wonderland 100% Kubrick & Be@rbrick set currently in stores.

Medicom x Disney Alice In Wonderland Cheshire Cat 400% Bearbrick
The Medicom x Disney Alice In Wonderland Cheshire Cat 400% Be@rbrick retails for around $70 and is available right now! I’m not sure where you can purchase this figure though, as most 400% Be@rbricks, even if they’re not Japan exclusives, have proven to be hard to track down.

Alice In Wonderland Mad Hatter Character Movie Poster

As a follow up to the two previously released Alice In Wonderland teaser one sheet movie posters seen here, is a brand new promo poster featuring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. While The Blot doesn’t particularly love Depp’s orange wig, the rest of his costume looks spot on. If I had to picture a Tim Burton-esque Mad Hatter this would be it. I don’t know how many more movies Burton and Depp can make together, but I really hope they’ve got a few more in them.

What I didn’t realize when I first blogged about these trippy looking teaser movie posters is that they were actually part of a 3 poster set with the Mad Hatter character one sheet above. The three posters connect together seamlessly to form one giant image, which you can see in all its glory below. From these posters alone you can really get a feel for this film and almost see the rich world Burton has created while re-imagining the classic Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Alice In Wonderland One Sheet Movie Posters

The Blot is pretty sure Disney’s upcoming live action adaptation of Alice In Wonderland is going to be sick. Everything about the film is so trippy and abstract just the way Tim Burton likes it. The trailer was great and these new one sheet movie posters are equally as good. Just looking at them is giving me a headache (but in a good way).

Alice In Wonderland Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster
I seriously don’t know where Burton comes up with his ideas, but his vision is definitely unlike any others’. I seriously can’t wait to see this movie, but what’s really bad is we still have three and a half more months to wait before Alice In Wonderland hits theaters. Shouldn’t this have been Disney’s big holiday release!?! I know kids and adults alike will be lining on March 5, 2010 to journey down the rabbit hole in amazing Disney 3D.

Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland First Look Photos

Disney - Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Logo
It would be near impossible for The Blot to say anything negative about Disney’s upcoming live action film Alice In Wonderland because I absolutely love any movie that pairs director Tim Burton with superstar Johnny Depp (yes even the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory remake). So I was extremely excited to find out last week that Disney had finally released the first stills and promotional pictures of what is sure to be one of the craziest adaptations of Lewis Carroll’s classic novel.

Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Promotional Photos - Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter
What I love about Tim Burton the most is that the man has a vision and he goes with it, no matter what path that vision takes him. Both he and Depp have shown time and time again they have no fear of what others might think of their work. Now people may be turned off by the warped look Burton gives to many of his films, but I think that’s part of the reason I enjoy his movies so much. You just know going in to a Tim Burton film to expect the unexpected! Plus, more often than not his films star one of the greatest actors in Hollywood, Johnny Depp (Depp has now appeared in seven of Burton’s movies).

While we still don't know too much about Alice In Wonderland, from the few glimpses we’ve seen so far I know it will be visually stunning. Just look at the colors in these stills and promo photos. The film itself is very unique in that it is live action “merged with CG animation and motion-capture creatures and then transferred into 3-D.” (link)

Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Promotional Photos - Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum
While the live action movie is based on Carroll’s 1856 novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the film's storyline has been “modernized.” In Burton’s version “Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn't remember.” (link) What’s in store for young Alice once down the rabbit hole is anyone’s guess!

Alice In Wonderland stars Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Michael Sheen, Stephen Fry, Alan Rickman, Crispin Glover, Matt Lucas and Christopher Lee, and will be released in theaters on March 5, 2010.

Disney Finds Its Leading Man In Depp

Johnny DeppAfter helping Disney to earn $2.6 billion with the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, the House of Mouse is locking down Johnny Depp with a three picture deal. (link) Depp has proven over the past 5-10 years that he really is a top tier talent with the ability to open even the most eclectic of movies. It is just unfortunate that this deal includes Depp reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth Pirates movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Johnny Depp as Captain Jack SparrowDon’t get me wrong, I loved the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. But similar to the Matrix trilogy, each subsequent movie has gotten worse. Now the Pirates sequels are no where near as bad as the Matrix sequels, but you get my point. Hopefully the upcoming fourth Capt. Jack Sparrow movie will benefit from a new and unconnected storyline. Also as part of the deal, Depp has agreed to star in the Jerry Bruckheimer produced remake of The Lone Ranger as the masked hero’s sidekick, Tonto.

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton
And rounding out the three movie deal will be Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Depp will star as the Mad Hatter, a role he was born to play. The movie, scheduled to be released in 2010, “will be shot using 3-D and performance capture technology similar to that used for Beowulf.” (link) It sounds like a very cool project, and I cannot wait to see Burton’s bizarre take on this children’s classic. Alice in Wonderland will mark the seventh time Depp has starred in a Tim Burton directed feature film (Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street)
