Toy Review: Hero Mork Vinyl Figure by MAD
One of The Blot’s favorite releases from the past two years is the Mork vinyl figure by MAD. Produced by Pobber, this fun character’s sixth and final colorway hit store shelves over the summer and The Blot got his hands on one! While all six versions are awesome, this is definitely my favorite of the bunch. The “Hero” Mork is the good brother of the Mork Twins, and features a blue and white color scheme.
What’s really cool about this figure is how many of MAD’s signature elements it includes. The helmet features MAD’s classic Guardian wings, his body rocks MAD’s handstyle graphics, and then there’s those crazy Mork teeth and body zipper. The Mork character has actually been around for years, and I even scored one of ten custom Mork 10” Mad’ls that MAD released blind box style back in 2010. It’s one of my favorite pieces in my collection, and I love the fact that the characters finally turned into a production toy!
Pobber did an amazing job turning MAD’s Mork Twins into 3D toys. With such a huge head you’d think he might be top heavy, but he actually stands great! The helmet is removable and fits snuggly on Mork’s head without damaging the very detailed sculpt underneath. As you can see all of the details on Mork’s head is sculpted, from the figure’s eyebrows and teeth all the way to the three hairs on the top of his head. Even his PJs include a sculpted hood and butt flap. But my favorite detail is the full body zipper. It just says “MAD” to me.
The Blot always has a hard time judging just how big a toy feels from their descriptions. Mork is advertised as 6.5” tall, but doesn’t he look almost as big as an 8” Dunny when his helmet is on? This is definitely a substantial toy with 5 points of articulation (head, arms & wrists) and a removable helmet. And the QC on this guy is impeccable! All of the painted on graphics are super tight, which is important for a figure like the Hero Mork when most of the detailing is in white. All of that combined makes Mork an instant buy for The Blot, especially at the price point of just $65! You an pick one up now at designer toy stores everywhere. Now all I’ve got to do is track down the figure’s other 5 colorways…

Captain America Custom Mork by MaloOne
I don’t know how The Blot missed this awesome custom last weekend at Designer Con, but I’m loving this Captain American Mork vinyl figure by MaloOne! To the best of my memory this is the first Mork custom I’ve seen and MaloOne killed it. Maybe MAD and Pobber toys should start thinking of a production Captain Mork! I’m a sucker for super hero inspired figures and this one is topnotch. I especially love the figure’s handmade wood shield.
This killer one of a kind Captain America Mork custom vinyl figure by MaloOne can be purchased at De Korner’s online store for $225.

Good and Evil Mork AP Sets by MAD
MAD received his APs of the WonderCon Exclusive Morksta Mork vinyl figure (aka the Good Mork) and the Art Attack Toys Exclusive Dr. Morkenstein Mork vinyl figure (aka the Evil Mork). These are the two rarest of the Mork colorways, and MAD came up with something nice for these AP sets.
Each Good and Evil Mork AP comes bundled with a matching 12”x12” giclee print. There are only 3 of each colorway AP set available, and each comes signed and numbered by MAD. The matching print and figure will ship together in one box, the print will be in a tube for added protection. Pick one up while supplies last at MAD’s online store for $120 per figure/print AP set.

Retailer Exclusive Pajamas Edition Dr. Morkenstein Mork Vinyl Figure by MAD
Pobber Toys just unveiled the fifth colorway of its popular Mork vinyl figure by MAD, the Pajamas Edition Dr. Morkenstein! Did you ever wonder what the evil Dr. Morkenstein looked like as a kid? Well, the amazing new Pajamas Edition Mork answers that very question by showing us the young Dr. Morkenstein in his pajamas. Looking so disarmingly charming and innocent, you might just stop caring that he turned out to be the evil brother. The Blot’s a huge MAD-head, so obviously I’d like this figure regardless, but I really love the backstory of this Mork colorway. It’s just so random that it’s great!
The 6.5” tall Pajamas Edition Dr. Morkenstein vinyl figure features a body clad in red pajamas with grey stars and stripes designs all over, the word BEWARE on the back of his helmet, and the radioactive logo on his hands with the word DANGER on his cuffs. Limited to just 150 pieces, this evil figure will be available at retails worldwide for just $65 each.

Prisoner 816 & Prisoner 913 MORK Custom 10" Mad'ls by MAD
The Blot’s a huge Mad’l fan, so of course I was really stoked to find out MAD was working on two new custom 10 inchers. It’s been a while since MAD’s had a custom release, but the Kansas City artist definitely did not disappoint with this sick two figure Mork set! Based on two of NYCC 2011’s hottest exclusives (Prisoner 913 and Prisoner 816 Mork vinyl figures produced by Pobber), these custom Prisoner Morks are sporting some series ink! Not only did MAD blow up these two criminals into 10 inch custom Mad’ls, but he faithfully recreated every detail of the original vinyl figures, including their hair, scars, tattoos and clothing.
Hand painted with spray paint, acrylics, and markers each figure is a true one of a kind custom. Originally sold individually for $400 each, both sold quickly after being posted on MAD’s online store over the weekend. The custom Mork Mad’l I got from MAD a few years ago is one of my favorite figures in my collection. The craftsmanship is top notch, so I can only imagine what these two look like in person. Who ever scored these two will definitely not be disappointed!

The Mork Twins (Prisoner 816 & 913) Vinyl Figures by MAD
Just a few hours after The Blot’s post yesterday about MAD’s new 6.5” Mork vinyl figure by Pobber Toys came an official announcement! New York Comic-Con will mark the official debut of the Mork Twins, Prisoner 816 and Prisoner 913. If you're wondering what Mork's prisoner numbers stand for, after doing a little research I found out that 816 and 913 are area codes for Kansas City (MAD's home town). As a huge MAD fan, The Blot can't tell you how excited I am for this release. These devilish criminals will look especially awesome next to my custom Mork 10" Mad'l!
These little monsters each have a limited edition run size of 100 pieces and will retail for $65 (or buy them as a set for $120). You can pick up the Mork Twins, Prisoner 816 and Prisoner 913, at the myplasticheart NYCC booth #879, where MAD will be signing on Friday and Saturday. This is a MPH exclusive pre-release, so only limited quantities will be available at NYCC before the figure’s official worldwide release. No word yet if these will be the only Mork colorways released or if we can expect additional "criminals" in the future.

Teaser Image: NYCC 2011 Exclusive Mork Vinyl Figure by MAD
Pobber Toys dropped some seriously exciting news on Friday: MAD’s highly anticipated new vinyl figure Mork will be making its world premiere at New York Comic-Con! The Blot’s been anxiously awaiting this one for months, and I can’t wait to see what the final product looks like. No word yet if this will be a NYCC 2011 exclusive, a NYCC 2011 exclusive Mork colorway or just where the figure is making its debut. More details to come soon...I hope!

Mork Custom Mad’l Set (Subber Edition) by MAD
I don’t know what happened, but somehow The Blot forgot to blog about one of my favorite reveals from last week! Lately MAD’s been working on two sets of hand made custom blind boxes, one for his 2008 subbers and one which was pre-sold to collectors. The first set, the Mork Mad’l Subber Edition, was completed last week and shipped out to MAD’s ’08 subbers. Since these were not sold to the general public, all the rest of us can do is look at these photos and drool!
Each Mork 10” Mad’l was hand painted and assembled by the artist and is limited to just 13 pieces. MAD created three version of his Mork Mad’l (Stars, Stripes and Clouds), and each vinyl figure comes with a matching painting. While I love Mork’s eyebrows, I think the custom zipper is my favorite part of these customs. MAD’s second set of custom blind box Mad’ls will be reportedly finished later this week and mailed out on Monday, so keep your eyes peeled for pics of those custom figures sometime soon!
