Toy Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutagen Man GID Ultimates! Action Figure by Super7 – An Entertainment Earth Exclusive!

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutagen Man GID Ultimates! Action Figure by Super7

When Entertainment Earth reached out about reviewing their retailer exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Glow in the Dark Mutagen Man Ultimates! action figure by Super7, The Blot jumped at the chance! While I’ve purchased a number of Super7’s Ultimates! action figures over the past few years I’ve actually never opened one up before (yes, I’m totally that kind of collector these days). But Mutagen Man holds a special place in my heart as it was one of my favorite TMNT toys from the original Playmates toy line. So I was really excited to open up this figure that EE provided for a review.

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutagen Man GID Ultimates! Action Figure by Super7

To say Super7 has been killing it with their TMNT Ultimates! toy line is an understatement! I knew Ninja Turtles fans have loved these action figures, but when you get one in hand you can really understand why. This 7” figure is the perfect size and it has the right amount of heft to it. Plus it has so much articulation – way more than my old ‘90s TMNT toys – for tons of options for poseability. The detailing is so good, and the Entertainment Earth exclusive colorway really glows in the dark! I feel like that added feature is a must for Mutagen Man, right?

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutagen Man GID Ultimates! Action Figure by Super7

But what makes the Mutagen Man Ultimate! really epic is that it has the same removable skull plug as the original Playmates toy, which allows you to add water and 7 floating miniature GID accessories (including a fish, wrench, eyeball and pizza). As a kid I loved this feature and as an adult collector I think it really separates this figure from so many other toys in the market for playability and figure photography. This is definitely a must get for all the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans out there, as well as diehard S7 Ultimates! collectors!

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutagen Man GID Ultimates! Action Figure by Super7

The victim of insidious experiments, Mutagen Man and his ever-changing, mutating form are confined to his mechanical life-support system. But in this incredible glow in the dark colorway exclusive to Entertainment Earth, Super7’s Ultimates 7” action figure is intricately painted in neon shades of pink, yellow, and green! And just like the original version, this Mutagen Man features a massive collection of interchangeable accessories.

Packaged in a deluxe slipcase packaging, the Entertainment Earth Exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutagen Man GID Edition Ultimates! action figure is available for purchase now at EE for $54.99 (with free shipping in the US) here.

Toy Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Comic Book Edition Marvel Legends Box Set

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Comic Book Edition Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Box Set by Hasbro

Thanks to our friends at Entertainment Earth, The Blot received this epic new Guardians of the Galaxy Comic Book Edition Marvel Legends Box Set by Hasbro to review. Whether you collect Marvel Legends action figures or are just a fan of 6” scale figures this is one set you will definitely want to get your hands on this Entertainment Earth exclusive! The retailer exclusive box set features all five members of the Guardians of the Galaxy (Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket Raccoon) with decos based on their appearance in the popular Marvel comic book series.

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Comic Book Edition Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Box Set by Hasbro

From the moment you open your box form Entertainment Earth you can tell this GotG Marvel Legends Set is something special! The figures come packaged in an epic full color window box with a Velcroed fifth panel cover. What’s great about this packaging is if you the type of collector who likes to keep your toys mint on card, you can open the fifth panel flap to see all of the figures and their accessories without ever removing them from the packaging. I especially love the artwork on the side, which features each Guardians of the Galaxy member’s face inserted into the team’s logo. I’ve never seen this done before and it’s a little bonus artwork on an already stellar packaging job.

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Comic Book Edition Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Box Set by Hasbro

The Blot’s not one to keep my toys locked up, so of course I had to dive right in to this fantastic set. I don’t own too many Marvel Legends action figures, but I love all the detailing Hasbro put into each character. I especially can’t get over how much articulation these toys have. My favorite little added detail are Drax’s knife sheathes built into his boots. That’s a little something that’s totally unnecessary but makes the figure that much cooler!

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Comic Book Edition Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Box Set by Hasbro

The Groot figure is massive at 8” tall, and features an all new head sculpt based on his early comic book appearances that is exclusive to this set. Star-Lord and Rocket come sporting their GotG team uniforms, which The Blot honestly wouldn’t mind seeing all five members in. But what can you do!?! My only complaint with this set is that it took me forever to figure out a way to make Gamora stand on her own. There’s just something about her right foot that makes her super unsteady. Thankfully Groot swooped in with a helping hand.

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Comic Book Edition Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Box Set by Hasbro

If you’re on the fence about picking up this set because maybe you’ve already purchased a different version of most of these figures before, I’ve got one word for…accessories!!! This Comic Book Edition Marvel Legends Set has more accessories than you can ever imagine. I honestly couldn’t even find a way for all the figures to hold all the weapons it includes. Gamora comes with a freaking huge sword, a cape and an alternate head, Drax includes an alternate set of hands and two sets of knives, and Rocket Raccoon has three giant guns.

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Comic Book Edition Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Box Set by Hasbro

Star-Lord includes his two signature blasters, and there are two really special bonus accessories: the previously announced baby Groot in pot, and what appears to be…a cosmic cube! This was something I had not noticed before, but there’s a light blue cube included in the set. It’s got to be the cube with maybe an Infinity Gem “inside”, right!?! Pretty awesome if you ask me!

Entertainment Earth Exclusive Comic Book Edition Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Box Set by Hasbro

The Entertainment Earth Exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy Comic Book Edition Marvel Legends Action Figure Box Set is in stock and ready to ship! You can pre-order it exclusively at Entertainment Earth’s online store for $119.99 here – this even includes free shipping!

Toy Review: EE Exclusive Terminator 2 “Final Battle” T-1000 ReAction Figures by Funko

Toy Review: Entertainment Earth Exclusive Terminator 2 “Final Battle” T-1000 ReAction Retro Action Figures by Funko

Today the beloved Terminator franchise makes its long awaited return to theaters with Terminator Genisys starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke. Is it just The Blot, or does it feel like The Terminator is everywhere this summer? Along with Genisys, which is a soft reboot of the franchise, both NECA and Funko are releasing San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive Terminator 2: Judgement Day action figures. Funko alone is releasing three SDCC exclusive Terminator 2 ReAction figures. So I thought what better time than now to do a proper review of these fantastic Entertainment Earth exclusive Terminator 2 “Final Battle” T-1000 ReAction figures!

James Cameron's Terminator 2 is still an amazing sci-fi action film that I put up against any other film in the genre. While Arnold’s T-800 may have been the star of the film, it was Robert Patrick’s liquid metal shapeshifting T-1000 that stole the show! To this day I can remember sitting in the theater watching T2 and being blown away by how they transformed Patrick’s body throughout the film. So it’s really cool that these EE Exclusive Terminator 2 ReAction figures revisit some of the film’s coolest T-1000 transformations!

Toy Review: Entertainment Earth Exclusive Terminator 2 “Final Battle” T-1000 ReAction Retro Action Figure by Funko

The Blot has been a huge fan of Funko’s Kenner inspired ReAction toy line from the very beginning. These retro figures are based on Kenner’s limited articulation action figures of the ‘70s and ‘80s, which made up for the non-articulated knees and elbows with highly detailed body sculpts and killer blister card artwork. These Terminator 2 figures fit that description to a T! The key here is not caring that none of Funko’s ReAction figure head sculpts look anything like the actors they are based on. It’s intentional on Funko’s part, and helps give these figures their retro feel.

Toy Review: Entertainment Earth Exclusive Terminator 2 “Final Battle” T-1000 ReAction Retro Action Figures by Funko

The Blot loves the extra molding Funko added to the “Final Battle” T-1000 to replicate the blasts it sustained while battling Arnold’s T-800. That was such a cool scene, and it actually looks like a retro way to recreate the fight. And how can you not love the all metallic silver "Final Battle Metal Form" T-1000 that recreates the evil robot’s malleable all metal form. I still remember the audience’s gasp when Robert Patrick went all metal and lost his corporal form. For such simple “retro” style figures, these retailer exclusive ReAction figures turned out sick!

Toy Review: Entertainment Earth Exclusive Terminator 2 “Final Battle (Metal Form)” T-1000 ReAction Retro Action Figure by Funko

What’s really great about these figures are their packaging. Funko spared no expense creating the full color backing boards, which include live still photos from the movie that match each limited edition variants. And like all figures from the ‘70s and ‘80s there’s a checklist on the back of all the figures in the collection. If you’re a collector of Terminator toys and are already planning to pick up Funko’s San Diego Comic-Con 2015 releases, then you will definitely want to buy these Entertainment Earth exclusives!

Each Entertainment Earth Exclusive Terminator 2: Judgement Day “Final Battle” T-1000 ReAction Retro Action Figure stands 3¾” tall, includes 5 points of articulation and comes packaged on a full color “retro” blister card. These figures are in stock, and can be purchased exclusively at the Entertainment Earth online store for $12.99 each here.

Toy Review: Batman & The Joker Labbit Vinyl Figures by Kidrobot x DC Comics

Entertainment Earth Sponsored Toy Review DC Comics x Kidrobot Labbit 7” Vinyl Figures - Batman and The Joker

Although The Blot has been covering and collecting Kidrobot for over 8 years now, I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never owned or reviewed one of Frank Kozik’s adorable Labbits. That all changes today thanks to our good friends at Entertainment Earth who have generously provided these awesome Batman and The Joker DC Comics 7” Labbit vinyl figures to review!!! Please check out the pictures and review below and let me know what you think!

Entertainment Earth Sponsored Toy Review DC Comics x Kidrobot Labbit 7” Vinyl Figures - Batman and The Joker

To be completely honest with you, I went into this review with very low expectations. While I’m normally a sucker for any designer art toy that features DC Comics characters, there were two things going against these Labbits: 1) I wasn’t overly impressed with Kidrobot’s Marvel Comics line and 2) The past few years KR’s overall QC has been really bad. That being said, I was seriously blown away by these figures from the moment I opened their boxes!

Entertainment Earth Sponsored Toy Review DC Comics x Kidrobot Labbit 7” Vinyl Figures - Batman and The Joker

The one thing Kidrobot has always done well was packaging artwork and these two full colored boxes rock. I especially love how much of The Joker’s personality they put into the box art of both figures. Plus both boxes feature spray paint graffiti style graphics, which tie in perfectly with Kidrobot’s long history of street art themed art toys. The boxes do a great job appealing to fans of both DC Comics and Kidrobot. This is how you meld the world of designer art toys and comic books!

Entertainment Earth Sponsored Toy Review DC Comics x Kidrobot Labbit 7” Vinyl Figures - Batman and The Joker

While the packaging is cool, it’s the figures we all really care about right? Let me just say, the Batman Labbit is fantastic! The figure’s paint application is seriously perfect, without a smidge or misplaced line anyway. Both of these DC Comics Labbits are some of the best painted figures I’ve seen from Kidrobot in forever. They went all out on Batman’s super detailed face, and personally I’m glad Kidrobot mad sure to includ Batman’s signature utility belt and a number of his bat-themed tools (including the Batagrang). What really surprised me is that the Batman Labbit came with a removable fabric cape! From the pictures I’d see I always assumed the cape was painted on. But here you get a really nice cape that attaches under the figure’s chin via Velcro.

Fans of The Joker will also love this retro styled Labbit! The Joker Labbit sports his traditional purple pinstripe suit and even has a bow on its back (just like DC’s old school Super Powers designs). And of course it’s not the Joker without his signature green hair. Surprisingly, The Joker’s overall paint details aren’t as complicated as Batman’s, but man is the Joker’s face sooo killer! Just look at that menacing grin and deep black eyes! Both 7” long figures also include a character specific accessory, a Joker playing card for Batman and a squirting flower for The Joker.

Entertainment Earth Sponsored Toy Review DC Comics x Kidrobot Labbit 7” Vinyl Figures - Batman and The Joker

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Batman or a die-hard Labbit collector, these DC Comics x Kidrobot Batman and The Joker 7” Labbits are not to be missed! Both mid-sized figures turned out perfect and you won’t be disappointed spending your hard earned money on these figures with their exceptional paint detailing. They will definitely make a great addition to any collector’s toy collection!

Toy Review: Inner Child Vinyl Figure by Nerviswr3k

The Blot Says Toy Review: The Inner Child Vinyl Figure by Nerviswr3k x SubUrban Vinyl

The Blot was beyond excited to get the opportunity to review Nerviswr3k’s first production vinyl figure, the Inner Child! I’ve been a fan of his custom work for years, and from the photos I’d seen this figure looked handmade. Shocking as it may be, the figure surpassed even my high expectations! I seriously can’t get over how much this 4” figure looks like one of Nerviswr3k’s custom pieces.

The Blot Says Toy Review: The Inner Child Vinyl Figure by Nerviswr3k x SubUrban Vinyl

Produced by SubUrban Vinyl, the Inner Child’s QC is pretty much perfect. The paint application is impeccable and the factory did a great job putting these figures together. I love the expression on the Inner Child’s face, and the teeth on his costume are actually sharp (but not that sharp)! With all of the texture on this sculpt, if I didn’t know any better I’d think this was a Japanese sofubi release. You just don’t see this level of detail in western figures these days.

The Blot Says Toy Review: The Inner Child Vinyl Figure by Nerviswr3k x SubUrban Vinyl

Even though Inner Child is only 4” tall, it’s got some serious heft to it. As you can tell from these photos, it looks way bigger than your standard 3” Dunny even though it's just 1” taller. I’ve also posed it with Gary Ham’s Wooper Looper and Brandt Peters's Stingy Jack to give you a feel of how awesome Inner Child would look in your collection! I think these kind of photos help put new releases in perspective since so many of us now shop almost exclusively online and never get to see these awesome designer art toys in person before taking the plunge to spend our hard earned money on them. As you can see, this figure lives up to the hype!  So what are you waiting for already!?!

The Blot Says Toy Review: The Inner Child Vinyl Figure by Nerviswr3k x SubUrban Vinyl

Nerviswr3k’s Inner Child comes packaged in a full color box, will be released in 3 killer colorways (limited to 125 pieces each), and will retail for just $45! The Tenacious Toys Exclusive Blue colorway went on sale last weekend here, and the standard edition Red colorway is available now at the following select retailers: Rotofugi, My Plastic Heart, The Cotton Candy Machine, Woot Bear, Collect and Display, Art Attack Toys, WTF Plastic Co, Toy Tokyo, Clutter Gallery and Martian Toys. Green is the third and final colorway, and it is scheduled to go on sale exclusively at SubUrban Vinyl on March 21st. Get one while you still can!

Toy Review: SDCC 13 Exclusive Star Trek: TNG Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! & Entertainment Earth

Toy Review: San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Star Trek: The Next Generation Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! & Entertainment Earth

San Diego Comic-Con 2014 is just around the corner, so it’s the perfect time to revisit one of our favorite SDCC exclusives from the past! Thanks to our good friends at Entertainment Earth, The Blot’s gotten his hands on a San Diego Comic-Con 2013 exclusive Star Trek: The Next Generation Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge bobble head!!! As you know, I’ve been covering the release of Bif Bang Pow!’s Star Trek: The Next Generation Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head Series for the past year, and the final three figures have just been released.

This 7” Wesley Crusher bobble head connects to the other 7 Build-a-Bridge figures to recreate the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It’s a pretty ingenious theme that looks fantastic when they’re all displayed together. I really how Bif Bang Pow! was able to accurately recreate the Enterprise’s helm. Now I just need to find some sticker decals for the ship’s control panel. The craftsmanship on this figure is top notch, and the paint application is pretty darn near perfect. You really can’t ask for much more from an officially licensed $19.99 figure, especially when you compare it to similarly priced licensed 7” bobble heads on the market these days.

Toy Review: San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Star Trek: The Next Generation Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! & Entertainment Earth

If there was one complaint I have with this toy it’s the likeness to Wil Wheaton is a little off. It’s not that it doesn’t look like him, it’s just not as spot on as the other bobble heads in this series. Just check out the Riker, LaForge, Worf and Data bobble heads look identical to the actors they are based on. It’s really a minor complaint though when you look at how awesome the whole series is as a whole. And you can’t buy just one without getting them all! It’s the Enterprise’s bridge diorama that makes these figures so much fun.

The San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Star Trek: TNG Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! has a limited edition run size of 2,500 pieces and retails for just $19.99 exclusively at the Entertainment Earth online store. Luckily there are still a few still available so go pick one up today before they’re gone forever. Engage!

Toy Review: Hero Mork Vinyl Figure by MAD

The Blot Says Toy Review - Hero Mork Vinyl Figure by MAD & Pobber

One of The Blot’s favorite releases from the past two years is the Mork vinyl figure by MAD. Produced by Pobber, this fun character’s sixth and final colorway hit store shelves over the summer and The Blot got his hands on one! While all six versions are awesome, this is definitely my favorite of the bunch. The “Hero” Mork is the good brother of the Mork Twins, and features a blue and white color scheme.

The Blot Says Toy Review - Hero Mork Vinyl Figure by MAD & Pobber and a hand painted custom Mork 10 Inch Mad'l

What’s really cool about this figure is how many of MAD’s signature elements it includes. The helmet features MAD’s classic Guardian wings, his body rocks MAD’s handstyle graphics, and then there’s those crazy Mork teeth and body zipper. The Mork character has actually been around for years, and I even scored one of ten custom Mork 10” Mad’ls that MAD released blind box style back in 2010. It’s one of my favorite pieces in my collection, and I love the fact that the characters finally turned into a production toy!

Pobber did an amazing job turning MAD’s Mork Twins into 3D toys. With such a huge head you’d think he might be top heavy, but he actually stands great! The helmet is removable and fits snuggly on Mork’s head without damaging the very detailed sculpt underneath. As you can see all of the details on Mork’s head is sculpted, from the figure’s eyebrows and teeth all the way to the three hairs on the top of his head. Even his PJs include a sculpted hood and butt flap. But my favorite detail is the full body zipper. It just says “MAD” to me.

The Blot Says Toy Review - Hero Mork Vinyl Figure by MAD & Pobber with an 8 Inch Dunny and 7.5 Inch Deadbeet

The Blot always has a hard time judging just how big a toy feels from their descriptions. Mork is advertised as 6.5” tall, but doesn’t he look almost as big as an 8” Dunny when his helmet is on? This is definitely a substantial toy with 5 points of articulation (head, arms & wrists) and a removable helmet. And the QC on this guy is impeccable! All of the painted on graphics are super tight, which is important for a figure like the Hero Mork when most of the detailing is in white. All of that combined makes Mork an instant buy for The Blot, especially at the price point of just $65! You an pick one up now at designer toy stores everywhere. Now all I’ve got to do is track down the figure’s other 5 colorways…

Toy Review: The Flash Mimobot Designer USB Flash Drive

Toy Review: DC Comics x Mimoco The Flash Mimobot Designer USB Flash Drive

Since The Blot’s a huge DC Comics fan, I of course had to get my hands on one of these new The Flash Mimobot designer USB flash drives by Mimoco. I was super late to the whole Mimobot craze, but I’ve been trying to catch up once I realized what I was missing out on! So, for the past 6 weeks I’ve been using this awesome 8GB The Flash Mimobot! It seems like everyone is using USB flash drives these days and why not use the coolest ones you can find?

Toy Review: DC Comics x Mimoco The Flash Mimobot Designer USB Flash Drive & Assorted DC Universe Action Figures

These 2.5” tall designer vinyl figures really are the best way to transport your data. Personally, I’m constantly bringing music, photos and documents to and from the office. What’s great is when I’m not using this little guy I’ve got a new Flash toy added to my collection at work! The last Mimobot I got was a 4GB Green Lantern Hal Jordan. While that’s really plenty of memory, I found I rarely delete anything off of it. So this time I upgraded to the 8GB. Double the memory means more pictures and press releases for upcoming blog posts. And now with the addition of my new Flash Mimobot I’ve retired all of my other cheap, sorry looking thumb drives from the rotation.

Toy Review: DC Comics x Mimoco The Flash Mimobot Designer USB Flash Drive & Marka27 3 Inch Dunny

The only thing I haven’t really used much of is the extra content that comes pre-loaded on Mimobot. When I first got my Green Lantern Mimobot I downloaded all the content and even used one of the wallpapers for my iPhone. I’m sure eventually I get to paying around with it all, but in the meantime this Flash Mimobot makes a great addition to my random assembly of Justice League International action figures.

Each The Flash Mimobot designer USB flash drive comes in a range of 4GB to 64GB memory capacities and is preloaded with MimoDesk character-specific content including wallpapers, avatars, screensavers, and other digital extras. This super fast thumb drive is currently available for purchase at Mimoco's online store starting at just $14.99.

Toy Review: Ironclad Decimator Dunny Chase by Doktor A

Toy Review

I have to start this review off with a confession, The Blot typically hates blind boxes and chases because, like most of you, I have TERRIBLE luck with them!!! I’ve never pulled an 8” Dunny chase, and while I do pull the occasional “rare” 3 inch Dunny it usually ends up not being the design I really wanted. But like all designer toy collectors I keep buying more because I’m addicted (and a glutton for punishment).

Kidrobot: Ironclad Decimator Dunny by Doktor A - Regular & Mecha Rupture Edition

With that being said, I never buy an 8 inch Dunny for the chase. My philosophy has always been I’ve got to really like the figure’s primary colorway if I’m going to buy it because that’s more than likely the version I’m going to get. So of course I was shocked beyond belief when I opened up my Doktor A Ironclad Decimator 8” Dunny and found the monotone chase staring back at me!

Toy Review: Kidrobot Ironclad Decimator 8 Inch Dunny Chase & Packaging (Front) by Doktor A

The Ironclad Decimator’s monotone chase colorway is quite striking, and its neon green highlights really stand out! To be honest I wasn’t sold on this color scheme when I first saw pics of it leaked online, but in person it’s just sick. I love how eerie and spooky it looks with its blacks and grays surrounding that crazy florescent green, and the head of Dok A’s Dunny looks especially fantastic in these colors. While this chase colorway is nice, what really takes this figure to the next level for me is its sculpt!

Toy Review: Kidrobot Ironclad Decimator 8 Inch Dunny Chase & Packaging (Back) by Doktor A

I love how all out Kidrobot went all out with the Ironclad Decimator. I couldn’t believe they resculpted both the Dunny’s head and body for this release, but it was definitely worth it! I love the head’s sculpt with Doktor A’s signature rupture design, and the rivets all over really do give it a metallic robotic look. It’s crazy how something you know is made of vinyl can be completely transformed with a few added design elements.

Toy Review: Kidrobot Ironclad Decimator 8 Inch Dunny Chase & Packaging (Bottom) by Doktor A

I also really like how clearly this is a Doktor A design, featuring so many of his classic elements. Sometimes an artist will go in a completely different direction with a release, but for anyone’s first 8” Dunny release I want to see those things I love about their work. To me, the spiky teeth looking head sculpt with those great “x” and “@” eyes are just scream Dok A to me. All in all, this is an epic design and my figure’s quality control is excellent (something I’m always worried about with KR releases). I know these are sold out everywhere, but if you’re on the fence purchasing Doktor A’s Ironclad Decimator Dunny do it! It will make a great addition to every fan’s collection.

Toy Review: Green Lantern Mimobots

DC Comics x Mimoco USB Flash Drives - Sinestro and Hal Jordan Green Lantern Mimobots

It’s weird, but as popular as Mimobots are The Blot’s never actually seen one out of its packaging. Thankfully I was able to get my hands on two Green Lantern DC Comics Mimobots recently and give them a proper review. While originally released in conjunction with last summer’s live action Green Lantern movie, the look of these figures is actually based on the comic book version of the characters (hence the yellow ring wielding Sinestro). This is obviously a very good thing since the movie was such a dud!

DC Comics x Mimoco USB Flash Drives - Sinestro and Hal Jordan Green Lantern Mimobots in Packaging

The two Green Lantern Mimobots I received were 2GB Hal Jordan and Sinestro figures and they’re all kinds of awesome! I’ve always thought Mimobots were a cool idea, but seeing them in their packaging always gave me the impression they were too big for everyday use as a portable USB thumb drive. The truth is they’re not as tall or heavy as I originally thought, which are both huge positives in my book. Because of that, if I had one recommendation to Mimoco it would be to change the packaging.

DC Comics x Mimoco Hal Jordan Green Lantern Mimobot USB Flash Drive

I’ve owned a number of USB flash drives over the past few years and I’ve found that I’m actually pretty picky. One of my biggest concerns with thumb drives is whether or not they can fit into the USB slots in all of the various computers I use regularly. I’ve had a number of designer USB flash drives that can’t fit into certain desktop computer USB slots because of their design, and there is nothing more infuriating! That’s definitely not a concern with Mimoco’s Mimobots and their extended heads. Once you pop off the foreheads of Hal and Sinestro, they’re ready to go (and feat easily in all three of my personal and work computers).

DC Comics x Mimoco Hal Jordan Green Lantern Mimobot USB Flash Drive and MAD Zombie Biker 3 Inch Dunny

As a huge DC Comics fan the big draw of these Green Lantern Mimobots are the characters themselves, but they are also come preloaded with Green Lantern themed wallpapers, icons, screensavers, avatars and more! I don’t see myself using these extras, but they’re a nice added touch for those who want to customize their computers with some cool Green Lantern content. The quality control on these figures’ paint jobs is pretty good but by no means perfect. As soon as I opened them up I noticed some blemishes in their designs, however they actually take a pretty good beating floating around in my backpack. That really says something since these are designed to be functional toys.

DC Comics x Mimoco USB Flash Drives - Sinestro and Hal Jordan Green Lantern Mimobots

All in all, I’ve been using my Hal Jordan Mimobot for a couple of weeks now and I really love it. Of all the “designer” USB flash drives I’ve used over the years, these Green Lantern thumb drives are definitely my favorite. Plus, where else can you get your files protected by a Green Lantern’s light? The only thing missing is a little hole in their feet where you can add a lanyard or keychain for extra portability. I’ll also probably choose a higher memory capacity next time around. While 2GB is usually sufficient, it’s hard to resist the pull of a more memory (you can choose from 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB). If you’re a fan of DC Comics or any of Mimoco’s other properties including Star Wars, Hello Kitty and Star Wars, then I highly recommend picking up one of these cool USB flash drives.
