Argonaut Resins x Ume Toys NYCC 11 Exclusive Custom Tuttz & Pharaoh Hound

Argonaut Resins x Ume Toys New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Custom Tuttz & Pharaoh Hound Resin Figures

Last week Rich Page of Ume Toys traveled across the pond to attend New York Comic-Con 2011, and thankfully he didn’t attend the con empty handed! Rich teamed up with Argonaut Resins to create two very special NYCC 2011 exclusive custom resin figures: a white with pink custom full size Tuttz and a white with blue custom Pharaoh Hound.

I love how the vibrant colors of Rich’s work stand out on the white resin bodies of END’s Tuttz and Pharaoh Hound. And while I’m not 100% certain, I’m pretty sure this is the very first custom ever created of END’s all new Pharaoh Hound. Excellent work all around! The Blot hopes the new owners of these two customs appreciate the craftsmanship!

The Jellatic Empire: Star Wars Inspired Stormtrooper Jelly Bots

New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Star Wars Inspired The Jellatic Empire: Stormtrooper Jelly Bots by The Jelly Empire

One of The Blot’s favorite surprises coming out of New York Comic-Con 2011 is this release from The Jelly Empire! A collaborative effort between The Jelly Empire, Argonaut Resins and Soundwave810, The Jellatic Empire is Star Wars inspired wave of Stormtrooper looking Jelly Bots. How awesome is that??? They even made sure to include the Stormtrooper’s clunky looking built in belt!

New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Star Wars Inspired The Jellatic Empire: Stormtrooper Jelly Bots Print by The Jelly Empire

The 12”x18” print seen above and these awesome The Jellatic Empire resin figures were originally sold at Big Kev’s Geekstuff NYCC Booth #E7 last weekend. No word yet if any of these are still available, but if so they will eventually show up at The Jelly Empire’s online store. May the force be with you!

NYCC '11 - The Avengers Mini Mighty Muggs 2 Packs

The Avengers Mini Mighty Muggs 2 Packs - Captain America vs Red Skull & Iron Man vs Iron Monger

When Hasbro announced they would be continuing their Marvel Comics Mini Mighty Muggs toy line The Blot thought it was kind of a joke. 1-2 releases at SDCC and NYCC isn’t really continuing a line when a majority of Mighty Muggs fans can’t get their hands on the figures. So you can imagine my surprise when Hasbro announced at New York Comic-Con 2011 that a new line of Avengers Mini Muggs 2 packs would be seeing a wide release next in conjunction with next summer’s The Avengers live action movie. This is pretty awesome news even if the four heroes are just repaints from last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con 2011 exclusive Avengers box set.

The Avengers Mini Mighty Muggs 2 Packs - Thor vs Loki & Hulk vs Abomination

Hasbro will be producing four The Avengers Mini Mighty Muggs Sets, with each 2 pack featuring one super hero and one villain. They are Captain America vs Red Skull, Iron Man vs Iron Monger, Thor vs Loki, and Hulk vs the Abomination. I love the idea of each set including an Avenger and their archenemy, I just wish there was a bigger difference between this release and the SDCC box set. The Captain America and Hulk Mini Muggs are almost identical to the previous release. I’ve seen no word yet on when these figures will be hit store shelves, but as soon as I hear something I’ll be sure to post that information here!

For those of us not fortunate enough to make it to New York Comic-Con 2011 this week, Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys is doing a very special online Ugly Unicorn NYCC inspired release tonight! There will be a small run of 5 “Jetlagged” Ugly Unicorns on red vinyl featuring sleepy eyes, color change metallic purple and yellow spray, as well as a few 1-off custom Ugly Unicorn and two original Ugly Unicorn Gouache paintings. As Jon explained it, “I thought it seemed like fun to have a little NYCC cheer coming out of Japan, and since I only made 5 sleepy eyed guys for Lulubell's booth, 5 more seemed appropriate.”

NYCC 2011 Exclusive Royal Swirl Mongolion by L’amour Supreme

Super7 - New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Royal Swirl Mongolion by L’amour Supreme

Let’s be honest, it’s not New York Comic-Con without a release from NYC’s own L’amour Supreme! That’s why late last night Super7 announced a very special surprise release at NYCC 2011, the Royal Swirl Mongolion! Spotted in the wild city lights of New York City, little is known about the shadowy Mongolion's existence. It is more rumor and legend than actual fact. Lamour Supreme's Royal Swirl is cast in marbled baby blue and yellow vinyl with red and white spray details.

Normally The Blot’s a huge fan of marbled vinyl, but there’s something about this color combination that doesn’t work for me. I think it’s because the yellow looks dirty, which may be a result of its having been mixed with the baby blue. If the yellow had been a bright yellow resulting in a sweet UCLA style colorway this would have been a must buy for The Blot. As it is, I do really love how its bright red eyes and tongue stand out against the baby blue and yellow swirled vinyl.

The New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Royal Swirl Mongolion by L’amour Supreme goes on sale today at the Super7 NYCC booth #688 for $65 each.

NYCC 2011 Exclusive Biological Warfare Edition Yankee Pig Dog Labbit by Kronk

New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Biological Warfare Edition Yankee Pig Dog Labbit Vinyl Figure by Kronk

To be completely honest, The Blot was considering now blogging about this release. While I really enjoy Kronk’s work and I think this New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive looks pretty cool, I hate that Kidrobot continually produces (and knowingly releases) sub-par production pieces. In fact, this is the second comic-con exclusive Labbit in the past few years that has production issues. At what point is Kidrobot going to get its act together? I just don’t see any other companies have these issues on such a consistent basis. Not only are collectors missing out what could have been, but I also feel really bad for Kronk. All the work and time he put into this project and it turns into this joke of a release. Enough of my ranting…read on for the figure’s official announcement:
Every so often things don’t go exactly as planned.…and so it is with the Yankee Pig Dog Labbit. Don’t get us wrong, we’re stoked with the end result (but it just wasn’t up to snuff). It’s a reflection on us, not the artists involved, so we’ll take the hit. We’re knocking a few bucks off the price. Awesome, right? There may be some inconsistencies in production…but it is still amazing. And now you can buy a whole squadron!
Flying straight out of South Africa comes Kronk’s Biological Warfare Edition Yankee Pig Dog Labbit, here just in time to keep the skies safe and his butt hole in all the action. Stinking of freedom, this badass bulldog is 7 inches of vinyl and dons molded rivets, a flying cap and goggles, and a jet pack. The Yankee Pig Dog also sports a ‘stache worthy of the Red Baron in honor of Labbit inventor Frank Kozik. The New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Biological Warfare Edition is military green and wears a toxic pink, beige, and lime uniform with more paint defects and miscues than you can shake a stick at!

New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Biological Warfare Edition Yankee Pig Dog Labbit Vinyl Figure by Kronk

The NYCC 2011 Exclusive Biological Warfare Edition Yankee Pig Dog Labbit by Kronk has a limited edition run size of 300 pieces and retails for $69 (it was originally going to be priced at $100, so that’s $41 off!). Pick one up at the Kidrobot NYCC booth starting Thursday, October 14.

NYCC 2011 Exclusive Spider-Man Maximum Carnage Marvel Mini Mighty Muggs Box Set

"Maximum Carnage" was a popular Spider-Man crossover from the early ‘90s, and I can still remember reading those comics as a little kid! To me, this was what comic books is all about and I highly recommend picking up the trade paperback if/when you have the opportunity. You definitely won’t be disappointed!

The Spider-Man Maximum Carnage Marvel Mini Mighty Muggs Collectors Pack retails for $33 and can be purchased from Hasbro’s NYCC booth #302, with any remaining stock made available at HasbroToyShop.com after the convention.

NYCC Exclusive BatTuttz & Robin Bot by Argonaut Resins & The Jelly Empire

Argonaut Resins x The Jelly Empire New York Comic Con 2011 Exclusive Dynamic Duo Set - BatTuttz & Robin Bot Chase Resin Figures.JPG

New York Comic-Con is just days away and Argonaut Resins and The Jelly Empire, resin’s Dynamic Duo, have created twelve NYCC 2011 exclusive sets that are sure to send fans reeling! While twelve sets featuring mostly clear tints would be exciting on their own, what has The Blot really excited are the three chase featuring colorways inspired by DC Comics’ Batman and Robin sets (painted by Selina Briggs). As you all know I’m a HUGE fan of super hero themed colorways on designer toys, and Eric and Selina absolutely killed it with this one! Isn’t that little Robin Bot just so freaking cute?

The regular Tuttz and Jelly Bot sets will retail for $40 per set, while the ultra rare BatTuttz and Robin Bot custom chase sets will retail for $50 per set. Argonaut Resins and The Jelly Empire will be at Big Kev GeekStuff’s NYCC booth #E7 Saturday and Sunday from 2-5pm. Be sure to get there early though because I know a few collectors who are already lining up for these Dark Knight Kitty Cats and Robot Wonders.

NYCC 2011 Exclusive Pajama Pants Ugly Unicorn Custom Figure by Rampage Toys

New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Pajama Pants Ugly Unicorn Custom Vinyl Figure by Rampage Toys

Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys has been working non-stop painting one offs of his new Ugly Unicorn made of Japanese soft vinyl. Besides the two New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive mini-runs he created for Tenacious Toys and Lulubell Toy Bodega, he also created this 1 of a kind “Pajama Pants” Ugly Unicorn custom figure. The Pajama Pants custom features a flesh colored vinyl top with blue and pink spray, paired with a yellow vinyl bottom with red spray. The Blot doesn’t know what Jon did to this figure’s hair (it looks dry painted), but I’m really digging the effect.

This 1 off "Pajama Pants" Ugly Unicorn custom vinyl figure by Rampage Toys will be sold exclusively at New York Comic-Con at the Tenacious Toys NYCC booth #876. And keep your eyes peeled to the Rampage Toys online store this weekend for more one of a kind custom Ugly Unicorns released for those of us unable to attend NYCC this year!
