Munky King has started to unveil its exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con 2018, which includes this fantastic The Prisoner XL Black Beauty Edition Resin Figure by Luke Chueh! This is the third colorway of Luke Chueh’s popular The Prisoner XL resin figure, which is based on Luke Chueh’s original painting. Black Beauties (aka Dextroamphetamine) was originally formulated as a diet pill, but quickly became the drug of choice for truck drivers during the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, prior to the advent of methamphetamine. The San Diego Comic-Con 2018 Exclusive Black Beauty Edition The Prisoner XL features a 6” all black Bear in a prescription pill bottle. Each figure includes an XL Pill Bottle, an XL Prisoner, a small bag of black gel caps, and small glossy black Prisoner. Collectors can purchase this limited edition collectible at the Munky King SDCC booth for around $225.

The Blot was super excited to learn that this Saturday, February 24th, Munky King will be releasing the second colorway of Luke Chueh’s popular The Prisoner XL resin figure!!! While this is the figure’s second colorway, it’s the first edition to be available to the general public. The previously released Kuma Kush Edition Prisoner XL flocked figure was only available as a reward for pledges to Munky King and Luke Chueh’s previously funded Grief Encounters Animated Series.

Back by popular demand comes a new strain of Luke Chueh’s awesome 1.5” resin figure, The Prisoner! Check out the Kuma OG (Amarillo Verde) Edition The Prisoner, produced by Munky King. If you’re wondering what’s the difference between this colorway and the previously released Kuma Kush Prisoner, it appears a slightly darker shade of green for both the standard figure and the flocked variant.

This Saturday, September 16, 3DRetro will be releasing its retailer exclusive Percocet Edition The Prisoner resin figure by Luke Chueh and Munky King! The release party will be at the 3DRetro Glendale store from 6-9pm, and Luke will be in attendance to sign your figures. Sadly, this yellow colorway is the seventh and final colorway of Luke Chueh’s The Prisoner.

Grief Encounters Animated Series Kickstarter Campaign by Luke Chueh x Munky King

The biggest designer toy announcement coming out of San Diego Comic-Con this year was the launch of Luke Chueh and Munky King’s new Kickstarter project “Grief Encounters”! The goal of this exciting new KS project is to raise the funds necessary to produce a series of animated shorts based on the art of Luke Chueh. Entitled “Grief Encounters”, this animated series will bring to life Luke’s unique pop-surrealist art and answer some timeless questions like “What's the deal with the bear after he was hijacked by the Devil in Possessed?” or “What's up with the chicken in I Asked For Scrambled?”

Grief Encounters sounds amazing, and I can’t wait to see how the creators of these animated shorts are able to bring Chueh’s unique blend of comedy and tragedy to life through his iconic paintings. This Kickstarter campaign is Munky King and Luke’s way to feasibly independently produce their vision of Luke's art in animation. What’s really cool about this colorway is in honor of PTSD Awareness Month, Munky King and Luke Chueh will be donating a portion of all Xanax Edition The Prisoner sales to PTSD United.

The Prisoner Kuma Kush Edition Resin Figure by Luke Chueh x Munky King

To celebrate 4:20, tomorrow Munky King will releasing the third colorway of Luke Chueh’s The Prisoner resin figure! Based on Luke Chueh’s original painting, The Prisoner ponders captivity in its many forms—physical, mental, or in some cases, pharmaceutical. The Kuma Kush Edition The Prisoner features a 1.5” green Bear in a medicinal marijuana pill bottle. Along with standard green figure, they’ve also made a super rare flocked green variant to replicate the fuzzy quality of marijuana.

The Prisoner Kuma Kush Edition Resin Figure by Luke Chueh is limited to 300 pieces, while the Flocked Variant is limited to just 30 pieces. These variants will be randomly dispersed throughout the run. This medical marijuana colorway will go on sale at 4:20pm PST on Thursday, April 20th (aka 4/20), at the Munky King online store.

The Prisoner Oxycontin Edition Resin Figure by Luke Chueh x Munky King

This Saturday Munky King will be hosting a release party for the second colorway of Luke Chueh’s new The Prisoner resin figure! Based on Luke Chueh’s original painting, The Prisoner ponders captivity in its many forms—physical, mental, or in some cases, pharmaceutical. The Oxycontin Edition The Prisoner features a 1.5” pink Bear in an Oxycontin pill bottle. This version of the sculpture attempts to match the pink color of Purdue Pharma's infamous opiode pain killer, the 20mg Oxycontin pill.

The release party will take place from 5pm-9pm on Saturday, February 25th, at the new Munky King studio space (5702 W Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90019), and will feature food, drinks, music and mystery releases. Any remaining pieces will go up for sale at the Munky King online store after the weekend.
