Grey Chase Gloomy Bear 8 Inch Dunny by Mori Chack

Thanks to Rotofugi, we now have a great picture of Kidrobot’s ultra rare Grey Chase Gloomy Bear 8” Dunny by Mori Chack. The Blot actually likes the grey Gloomy way more than the standard pink version, but no chase is going to entice me enough to actually spend $75 on this 8” version of the popular Series 2009 Dunny.

Kidrobot - Grey Chase Gloomy Bear 8 Inch Dunny by Mori Chack
From what I’ve heard, the 8 inch Gloomy Bear Dunny is not selling well, and I’ve got a sinking suspicion it has something to do with the price. I don’t mind paying $75 for an 8" Dunny with a really cool design, if it's uber-rare, or comes with crazy accessories, but I think the simplicity of Gloomy’s design (and the abundance of other cool Gloomy Bear products), has kept collectors away.

The Gloomy Bear 8 inch Dunny is limited to 1500 figures, retails for $75 each, and has the bloody rare grey chase seen above.

Kidrobot - Dunny Series 2009 Chase Wood Dunny Variants by Travis Cain

By now you’re probably aware that not only was one of the chase figures in Kidrobot’s Dunny Series 2009 an actual Wood Dunny by Travis Cain, but the extremely rare figure also had three variants: a Hinged Head Wood Dunny, a Sawed Head Wood Dunny (it has a piece sawed out of the top of its head), and a Drill Wood Dunny (which has holes drilled in it). All four of Cain’s Wood Dunnys can be seen below.

Each figure has its own ratio and each all wood Dunny is unbelievably rare. Travis actually put some of his Artist Proof Wood Dunnys up for sale on eBay, and they all sold for some crazy money. Especially when you consider these are newly released production pieces.

Kidrobot Dunny Series 2009 Chase Wood Dunny Variants by Travis Cain - Hinge Head Wood Dunny
The standard AP Wood Dunny sold for $415, the AP Hinge Head Wood Dunny sold for $560, the AP Saw Wood Dunny sold for $787, and the ultra-rare AP Drill Wood Dunny sold for $3,050! Yes my friends, you’ve read that correctly. Cain’s AP Drill Wood Dunny sold for over 3K! These all wood chase Dunnys have to be some of the most sought after production Dunnys ever.

Dunny Series 2009 PON Golden Ticket AP Murder Pigeon 3 Inch Dunny

The one Dunny Series 2009 figure The Blot still needs goes on sale later today! Pon has added some paint to his 3” GT Artist Proofs to make them look good and bloody, and rechristened the figures Pon's Murder Pigeon Dunnys. The paint Pon added to each figure by hand really gives his Pigeon Dunny an evil look, and I love it! Sadly, the Artist Proof Golden Ticket Murder Pigeon Dunnys are way out of The Blot’s price range (they retail for $300 each!). But I would be more than happy to accept one as a gift! ;)

Pon’s Artist Proof Golden Ticket Murder Pigeon Dunnys will retail for $300 each and go on sale today, Saturday, September 19th, at 1pm eastern on Pon’s online store.

Dunny Series 2009 Golden Ticket PON 3 Inch Pigeon Dunny

Earlier today Pon officially unveiled the design of his Golden Ticket 3” Dunny. It seems like every artist nowadays has a niche, and Pon’s pigeon theme is a great one. I’d dare say he’s done more to improve the image of New York City’s pigeon population than anyone has ever been done before. Pon’s pigeons show up in everything he does, and his GT is no exception. Just check out his great Pigeon Dunny design below:

Travis Cain Wood Dunny Hinged Chase Figure from Dunny Series 2009

Here is the much rumored Travis Cain Wood Dunny Hinged Chase Figure pulled at the Domy Books pre-release party in Houston! It's solid wood inside, but it's still really cool that the head opens and closes. Thanks to daaznnikeboi3 for the pics! How cool is this wooden Dunny!?! Good luck finding one for the completists out there.

The Blot’s Recovering From Dunny Overload

The Blot's still recovering from last night's awesome Dunny Series 2009 pre-release party at Domy Books here in Houston, Texas, so The Blot Says... will be a little light in the posts department today.

Kidrobot Dunny Series 2009 Pre-Release Party at Domy Books in Houston and Austin, TX Ad
I got some awesome figures last night, but am still looking for a Pon and Huck Gee! Arghhh. I hope everyone else found/finds the figure's they're looking for this week. The designs in this series look even better in person than they do in pictures, so I highly recommend picking up a few blind boxes. And the two Travis Cain Wood Dunnys I saw look incredible! The highlight of the night was finding out there's a chase Wooden Dunny that has a hinge in its head so it can be opened and shut! How cool is that. I only wish I had gotten a picture of it.

Dunny Series 2009 Pon and Travis Cain Chase Figures Photos

Kidrobot’s Dunny Series 2009 is almost here! We’re just a few days away from the official release of KR’s newest line of 3” collectible designer vinyl figures, and The Blot is excited to bring you pictures of the toy lines’ two chase figures designed by Pon and Travis Cain.

Kidrobot Dunny Series 2009 - Pon and Travis Cain Chase Figures
Pon has quickly become one of my favorite artists, and I’ve been dying to find out what his two designs for Kidrobot Series 2009 were going to be. While his golden ticket design is still under wraps, the design of his chase figure has finally surfaced!

Kidrobot Dunny Series 2009 - Pon Chase Figure
I love how Pon’s Chinese Food themed figure uses the Dunny platform. Kidrobot’s been altering the Dunny platform a lot lately in its 3 inch series (Touma’s Endangered Dunny and Devilrobots’ Dunny Series 2009 Dunny for example), but this figure really shows an artist thinking outside of the box. Get it, a Chinese Food take-out box! Man, I crack myself up. The ratio for Pon’s Series 2009 Dunny is currently unknown.

Kidrobot Dunny Series 2009 - Travis Cain Wood Chase Figure
Travis Cain’s Series 2009 chase Dunny is a special one. As I alluded to on Friday, wood really is the new vinyl. Cain’s chase Wood Dunny is the first mass produced all wood figure made by Kidrobot, and I can’t wait to see one of these unique figures in person! Cain’s Dunny has a ratio of 1/100, meaning it will be pretty hard to get, but I wonder if it will be easy to spot while in a sealed blind box due to a difference in weight. I guess we’ll know more come Wednesday night.

Dunny Series 2009 goes on pre-sale Wednesday, September 9th, at select pre-release parties, and at retail locations worldwide and Kidrobot.com on Thursday, September 10th.

It’s Official! Dunny Series 2009 will be hitting store shelves in just over 4 weeks! Best of all, we’ll be getting Dunny versions of Devilrobot’s To-Fu Head Son and Mori Chack’s Gloomy Bear, plus a bunch of wild figures equipped with the necessary accessories to wreak havoc on your collection.

Kidrobot - Dunny Series 2009
Be sure to keep an eye out for 2 chases that slipped into the line-up, plus Golden Tickets redeemable for an elusive 3 inch Dunny by the NYC-based artist, Pon. One of the two unidentified chases was also designed by Pon, which is music to The Blot's ears since I’m a huge fan of his work. These are sure to be two Dunny designs you will not want to miss!

Kidrobot - Dunny Series 2009 Sneak Peek Photo

It was unofficially announced/leaked last week that Kidrobot’s next 3 inch blind boxed Dunny series will be entitled Dunny Series 2009! The Blot scoured the web and was able to find this picture of the upcoming Dunny series. I know it’s small, but there looks to be some incredible designs in this series. From what I can make out, we can expect Dunnys from Huck Gee, Frank Kozik, MAD, Luke Chueh, Amanda Vissell, Andrew Bell, Brandt Peters, a Gloomy Bear Dunny by Mori Chack and a Tofu Dunny by Devilrobots. Can anyone identify any of the other artists in this series?

In other Dunny Series 2009 news, Kidrobot and Dragon*Con are teaming up again this year with the official launch party of Dunny Series 2009 taking place at Drgaon*Con on Friday, September 4th at 8:30pm during the Comics and Pop Art Reception. For those lucky enough to attend the convention in Atlanta, GA, a very limited number of Dunny Series 2009 figures will be available for purchase.
