Three Bears Mono Custom Vinyl Figures by Angry Woebots
After returning from his amazing trip to the Thai/Burma border with J★RYU and Ritzy Periwinkle as part of the Little Lotus Project 2011 (where the artists worked with refugee and migrant children who have fled from the instability of Burma), Angry Woebots must have been itching to get back into the studio. How else can you explain these awesome new monochromatic custom vinyl figures he whipped up over the weekend! Just check out these beautiful Veil: Specimen 129 ($450), Gloomy Bear ($700) and Reach Bear ($220) vinyl figures customized by Woe as black, grey and white pandas. Grey Chase Gloomy Bear 8 Inch Dunny by Mori Chack
Thanks to Rotofugi, we now have a great picture of Kidrobot’s ultra rare Grey Chase Gloomy Bear 8” Dunny by Mori Chack. The Blot actually likes the grey Gloomy way more than the standard pink version, but no chase is going to entice me enough to actually spend $75 on this 8” version of the popular Series 2009 Dunny.

From what I’ve heard, the 8 inch Gloomy Bear Dunny is not selling well, and I’ve got a sinking suspicion it has something to do with the price. I don’t mind paying $75 for an 8" Dunny with a really cool design, if it's uber-rare, or comes with crazy accessories, but I think the simplicity of Gloomy’s design (and the abundance of other cool Gloomy Bear products), has kept collectors away.
The Gloomy Bear 8 inch Dunny is limited to 1500 figures, retails for $75 each, and has the bloody rare grey chase seen above.

Gloomy Bear 8 Inch Dunny by Mori Chack

Mori Chack’s adorably lethal creation looms larger and more violent than ever in this Dunny version of his evil icon. Even though Kidrobot’s been going Gloomy Bear crazy recently, The Blot’s still a little surprised by this release. It’s been years since Kidrobot’s released an 8” Dunny of a previously released 3” figure, much less an 8” version of pre-existing popular character. Regardless, I’ve got a sneaking suspicious this figure is going to be really popular, especially since an ultra rare variant figure will be inserted into select Gloomy Bear boxes.

The 8 inch Gloomy Bear Dunny is limited to 1500 figures and has a bloody rare chase! Retailing for $75 each, the Gloomy Bear 8” Dunny attacks Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com, and select retailers on November 5th, 2009.

Kidrobot - Dunny Series 2009 Sneak Peek Photo
It was unofficially announced/leaked last week that Kidrobot’s next 3 inch blind boxed Dunny series will be entitled Dunny Series 2009! The Blot scoured the web and was able to find this picture of the upcoming Dunny series. I know it’s small, but there looks to be some incredible designs in this series. From what I can make out, we can expect Dunnys from Huck Gee, Frank Kozik, MAD, Luke Chueh, Amanda Vissell, Andrew Bell, Brandt Peters, a Gloomy Bear Dunny by Mori Chack and a Tofu Dunny by Devilrobots. Can anyone identify any of the other artists in this series?

In other Dunny Series 2009 news, Kidrobot and Dragon*Con are teaming up again this year with the official launch party of Dunny Series 2009 taking place at Drgaon*Con on Friday, September 4th at 8:30pm during the Comics and Pop Art Reception. For those lucky enough to attend the convention in Atlanta, GA, a very limited number of Dunny Series 2009 figures will be available for purchase.
