New Star Trek: TOS Screen Prints by Matt Taylor & Kevin Dart

Star Trek “Arena” Screen Print by Matt Taylor

The Blot’s a huge fan of Mondo’s Star Trek: The Original Series Screen Print Series, but these things never come out! Just when I think this series is dead as a doornail, Mondo surprises everyone with a new release. It’s honestly kind of amazing Mondo even still has the Star Trek license. First up is “Arena” by Matt Taylor, which is based on the 18th episode of Star Trek: TOS Season 1. Also released today is “What Are Little Girls Made Of?” by Kevin Dart, which is based on the 7th episode of Star Trek: TOS Season 1.

Star Trek: The Corbomite Maneuver Screen Print by Todd Slater

Star Trek: The Corbomite Maneuver Standard Edition Screen Print by Todd Slater

Later today Mondo’s bringing back its popular Star Trek: The Original Series Screen Print Series with a stunning design by one of The Blot’s favorite artists, Todd Slater! “The Corbomite Maneuver” is based on the tenth episode of TOS and features the kind of intricate design that’s become a staple of Slater prints. This is a perfect example of Slater’s amazingly detailed work, I just wish he had gone with something like this for his Breaking Bad print.

Star Trek: TNG “I, Borg” Screen Print by Jesse Philips

Mondo - Star Trek: The Next Generation “I, Borg” Standard Edition Screen Print by Jesse Philips

Mondo’s newest Star Trek Screen Print Series is based on the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “I, Borg” and was designed by Jesse Philips. The print is a visual ode to the burgeoning individuality experienced by Third of Five/Hugh from the classic TNG episode "I, Borg". Jesse's unique style complements the nature of the episode, illustrating the connections Hugh has to the collective as well as the new relationships he develops while on board the Enterprise, which awaken the sense of identity suppressed by the collective. X-ray insets throughout the piece remind the viewer that there is flesh...a real heart at the center of the wires and machinery forced upon him by the Borg. The hard realization Picard eventually has to acknowledge at the end of the episode.

Star Trek “A Piece of the Action” Screen Print by Rich Kelly

Mondo - Star Trek “A Piece of the Action” Standard Edition Screen Print by Rich Kelly

The newest print in Mondo’s Star Trek Screen Print Series is based on the Star Trek: The Original Series episode “A Piece of the Action” and was designed by Rich Kelly. This popular episode features the crew of the Enterprise visiting a planet that resembles Earth circa the 1920s, gangsters and all! The Blot has to say, Kirk and Spock do pull off the gangster look very convincingly! Unfortunately, this might be the weakest print Mondo has released as part of its Star Trek series...something about it just feels off.

Mondo - Star Trek “A Piece of the Action” Variant Edition Screen Print by Rich Kelly

“A Piece of the Action” by Rich Kelly is an 18”x24” hand numbered screen print with a limited edition run size of 260 pieces. There is also a Variant Edition that has a run size of 65 pieces. Star Trek: The Motion Picture Screen Print by Daniel Danger

Star Trek: The Motion Picture Screen Print by Daniel Danger.jpg

Mondo continues its Star Trek Screen Print Series with this awesome Star Trek: The Motion Picture poster by Daniel Danger. The poster features the crew looking on in awe at the power of V'Ger. While there have been some really beautiful pieces in this series, Danger’s Star Trek I screen print takes the cake. In fact, this might be The Blot’s favorite Daniel Danger print ever! I just think the scene with its bright blue coloring really fits Danger’s dark and brooding style to a T. He really knocked this one out of the park!

Star Trek “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Star Trek “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Mondo is finally releasing a new poster in its acclaimed Star Trek Screen Print Series, and it’s by one of my favorite artists, Tom Whalen!!! “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” takes its name from the fourteenth episode of the third season of Star Trek: The Original Series, which features the television debut of Bele, the half black and half white alien played by Frank Gorshin. Following in Bele’s yin/yang look, “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” is actually a reversible print so you can frame it however you want. Black on the left and white on the right or vice versa! Just depends on how you want to do it.

“Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” by Tom Whalen is an 18”x24” hand numbered screen print with a limited edition run size of 215 pieces. This Star Trek print will retail for $40 each and goes on sale at a random time today, Friday, July 15th, at the Mondo online store.

2 New Star Trek: TOS Screen Prints by Tomer Hanuka & Mike Saputo

Star Trek “Mirror, Mirror” Screen Print by Tomer Hanuka

The Blot had started to think Mondo had ended its Star Trek Screen Print Series without an official announcement. It had been all most 2 months since we saw a Star Trek release, and then BAM!, two prints in one day! The first Star Trek screen print scheduled to be released today (sixth overall) is “Mirror, Mirror” by Tomer Hanuka, which is named after the 1967 The Original Series episode of the same name.

Star Trek “The Menagerie” Screen Print by Mike Saputo

The second print (and seventh overall) is “The Menagerie” by Mike Saputo, which is also scheduled for release today. “The Menagerie” is based on the 1966 Star Trek: The Original Episode two-part episode of the same name. “The Menagerie” episode is unique in that it is the only two part episode of the original Star Trek television show. It also marks the return of Christopher Pike, who was the original captain of the USS Enterprise in the show’s pilot episode.

Star Trek "Journey to Babel" Screen Print by Tom Whalen

The fourth print in Mondo TeesStar Trek Screen Print Series is “Journey to Babel” by Tom Whalen. Its subject is episode #39 of Star Trek: The Original Series, which was of course titled “Journey to Babel.” In this episode, the Enterprise tasked with transporting dignitaries from a number of different races to a peace conference, only to find out an assassin is among their ranks. “Journey to Babel” is actually an important part of the Star Trek mythology because it marks the first ever appearance of Spock’s parents, Ambassador Sarek and his human wife Amanda.

"Star Trek: First Contact" Screen Print by Ken Taylor

The third print in Mondo TeesStar Trek Screen Print Series has really thrown The Blot for a loop. For the longest time I thought this series was only spotlighting episodes from Star Trek: The Original Series. Then came print number 3, which not only focuses on a movie but a Star Trek: The Next Generation movie at that!

Star Trek: First Contact Screen Print by Ken Taylor
"Star Trek: First Contact" by Ken Taylor is the first Star Trek: TNG screen print from Mondo and prominently features Alice Krige's Borg Queen. Mondo creative director Justin Ishmael explained that for this print they wanted “to focus on one of the most recognized and loved of all Star Trek characters...the Borg. Not only are the Borg incredibly interesting and visually stunning, but they function as a cohesive unit with the queen as their leader.”

The "Star Trek: First Contact" by Ken Taylor is a 24″x36″ screen print with metallic ink, and goes on sale Thursday, September 2nd, at the Mondo Tees online store at a random time. "Star Trek: First Contact" has a limited edition run size of 210 prints and will retail for $45. There is also reportedly a GID (glow-in-the-dark) Variant that has a limited edition run size of 80 prints and will retail for $80.

Star Trek “The Trouble With Tribbles” Screen Prints by Olly Moss

Mondo Tees will be continuing its line of screen prints based on episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series with not one, but two new prints by Olly Moss! One of the show’s most identifiable aliens by both Trekkers and the general public alike are the cute, yet deadly, multiplying Tribbles! Moss pays homage to the classic Star Trek episode “The Trouble With Tribbles” in his trademark minimalist style.

Star Trek “The Trouble With Tribbles” Spock Edition Screen Print by Olly Moss
The Blot is really digging both versions of these prints, and I especially like how Moss was able to include the entire crew of the USS Enterprise in both versions (well at least the outline of their heads). There are two versions of Olly’s Star Trek print, a blue Spock Edition and a red Uhura Edition, which also, coincidentally, matches the colors of their Starfleet uniforms.

Star Trek “The Trouble With Tribbles” Uhura Edition Screen Print by Olly Moss
The Star Trek “The Trouble With Tribbles” is an 18”x24” two color screen print by Olly Moss, and will go on sale Friday, July 23rd, at the Mondo Tees online store at a random time. The Spock Edition screen print has a limited edition run size of 350 prints, while the Uhura Edition has a much small run size of only 190 prints. You can find out more about these awesome Star Trek prints here.
