DCon 2019 Exclusive KRBtronic Planet of the Apes Figures with Hand Illustrated Card Backs by Manly Art x DKE Toys

At Designer Con 2019 Manly Art (aka Jason Chalker) continues his fantastic KRBtronic series, this time utilizing Super7’s Planet of the Apes 3.75” ReAction figures. Each figure comes packaged on a 9”x12” blister card with an original piece of hand drawn artwork in Jason’s signature black light KRBtronic style. The vintage style Planet of the Apes figure is then glued to the art to create this unique one of a kind piece of art. Only 24 of these one of a kind pieces were made, and they will be available for purchase at the DKE Toys DCon booth #2922 for $135 each.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes Screen Print by Paolo Rivera x Mondo

Mondo’s first print release of 2019 is this stunning new movie poster for Beneath the Planet of the Apes by Paolo Rivera! The second entry in the iconic film series, Beneath focuses on a new astronaut named John Brent who is on a rescue mission to save the astronauts from the original film. Along the way he also encounters the intelligent talking apes and an underground cult of mutant nuclear blast survivors. This artwork by Rivera was originally released as cover art for BOOM! Studios’ Planet of the Apes: Ursus limited miniseries, Mondo is now teaming up with BOOM! to release Paolo’s gorgeous art as a screen print.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes by Paolo Rivera is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. The Regular Edition is limited to 225 pieces and will retail for $50, while the Variant is limited to 125 pieces and will retail for $75. Both movie posters will go on sale at a random time today, Tuesday, January 15th, at the Mondo online store.

Mondo has slowly started unveiling their exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con 2018, including this fantastic movie poster for Beneath the Planet of the Apes by acclaimed comic book artist Eric Powell! Mondo has released a fun new movie poster screen print by Eric Powell for the newest Planet of the Apes film, War for the Planet of the Apes. The film debuts in theaters tonight, and The Blot can’t wait to see it. Powell’s design, which features Caesar leading his army of apes on horseback, looks awesome! Planet of the Apes Screen Print by Kevin Wilson x Grey Matter Art

Grey Matter Art, in collaboration with Acme Archives, is releasing a killer new movie poster by artist Kevin Wilson for the iconic 1968 film Planet of the Apes! What’s awesome about this officially licensed print is that it actually looks like it could be a one sheet movie poster for Planet of the Apes hung up at your local movie theater. It just has that classic movie poster vibe that The Blot loves so much (and that so many prints are lacking these days).

Planet of the Apes by Kevin Wilson is a 24”x36” screen print. Yesterday, Mondo released a new Planet of the Apes Enamel Pin Series by Tom Whalen! The Blot is a huge fan of Whalen’s portrait pins Mondo has been releasing over the past year, and I’m excited to see them expand the series beyond just the Marvel Comics property. Because let’s be honest, Whalen’s unique art style would work with pretty much any pop culture character you could come up with!

“Bust’d” Solo Art Show by Tom Whalen

Tonight is opening night of Tom Whalen’s new solo art exhibit “Bust’d” at Gallery1988 (West)! The Blot is a huge fan of Tom’s work, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us tonight. Inspired by his own personal logo, this awesome new collection will feature 8”x8” 5 color screen prints, prints on metal and originals of the busts of iconic characters from pop culture.

Mondo x Sideshow Collectibles Planet of the Apes Screen Print Series

Tomorrow (for some odd reason), Mondo is releasing its entire Planet of the Apes Screen Print Series in one fell swoop as a gigantic 6 print set. Seems like over kill to me, but all you diehard Apes fans will definitely want to check this series out!

For its Planet of the Apes series Mondo has once again teamed with Sideshow Collectibles to produce a screen print for each of the original five Planet of the Apes movies: Planet of the Apes by Martin Ansin, Beneath the Planet of the Apes by Ken Taylor, Escape from the Planet of the Apes by Rich Kelly, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes by Phantom City Creative and Battle for the Planet of the Apes by Florian Bertmer. Plus, if you purchase the set tomorrow, you’ll also receive the “GO APE!” poster by Jason Edmiston.
