Stand By Me Screen Print by Joshua Budich

Stand By Me Screen Print by Joshua Budich

Joshua Budich just released this epic Stand By Me movie poster for pre-order, and The Blot is all about it! Honesty, it’s always amazed me that director Rob Reiner was able to cast these four amazing children for the film’s leads. Who knew River Phoenix, Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman and Jerry O'Connell would become such amazing talents!?! Budich has classified his Stand By Me screen print as a “public” private commission. He’s giving everyone interested in the poster a chance to buy into the run before any copies are officially offered publicly. It’s not all that different than a pre-sale, but the number of orders may slightly increase the run size.

Stand By Me by Joshua Budich is an 18”x24” signed and numbered 3 color screen print. This movie poster will have a run size of at least 100 pieces with a maximum of 200 pieces based on interest in the pre-sale. Collectors can pick one up between now and midnight EST on Friday, January 23rd at Budich’s online store for just $40.

Toy Review: SDCC 13 Exclusive Star Trek: TNG Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! & Entertainment Earth

Toy Review: San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Star Trek: The Next Generation Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! & Entertainment Earth

San Diego Comic-Con 2014 is just around the corner, so it’s the perfect time to revisit one of our favorite SDCC exclusives from the past! Thanks to our good friends at Entertainment Earth, The Blot’s gotten his hands on a San Diego Comic-Con 2013 exclusive Star Trek: The Next Generation Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge bobble head!!! As you know, I’ve been covering the release of Bif Bang Pow!’s Star Trek: The Next Generation Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head Series for the past year, and the final three figures have just been released.

This 7” Wesley Crusher bobble head connects to the other 7 Build-a-Bridge figures to recreate the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It’s a pretty ingenious theme that looks fantastic when they’re all displayed together. I really how Bif Bang Pow! was able to accurately recreate the Enterprise’s helm. Now I just need to find some sticker decals for the ship’s control panel. The craftsmanship on this figure is top notch, and the paint application is pretty darn near perfect. You really can’t ask for much more from an officially licensed $19.99 figure, especially when you compare it to similarly priced licensed 7” bobble heads on the market these days.

Toy Review: San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Star Trek: The Next Generation Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! & Entertainment Earth

If there was one complaint I have with this toy it’s the likeness to Wil Wheaton is a little off. It’s not that it doesn’t look like him, it’s just not as spot on as the other bobble heads in this series. Just check out the Riker, LaForge, Worf and Data bobble heads look identical to the actors they are based on. It’s really a minor complaint though when you look at how awesome the whole series is as a whole. And you can’t buy just one without getting them all! It’s the Enterprise’s bridge diorama that makes these figures so much fun.

The San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Star Trek: TNG Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! has a limited edition run size of 2,500 pieces and retails for just $19.99 exclusively at the Entertainment Earth online store. Luckily there are still a few still available so go pick one up today before they’re gone forever. Engage!

San Diego Comic-Con 2013 First Look Star Trek The Next Generation Build-a-Bridge Bobble Heads Complete Set by Bif Bang Pow!

As you all know, at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Bif Bang Pow! released the very first figure in their new Star Trek: The Next Generation Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head Series, the SDCC 2013 Exclusive Wesley Crusher Bobble Head. Wil Wheaton’s character was not always a TNG fan favorite, but I think Star Trek fandom has found a new appreciation for him now that Wil’s a bona fide internet celebrity. What The Blot wasn’t expecting was for Bif Bang Pow! to have the entire collection on display!

This was the world’s first look at the completed Star Trek: The Next Generation Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head Collection and it looks awesome!!! Bif Bang Pow’s Star Trek: The Next Generation Set includes Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard, Jonathan Frakes as Commander Riker, LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forge, Michael Dorn as Worf, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi, Brent Spiner as Data, Gates McFadden as Doctor Crusher and Wil Wheaton as Wesley Crusher. Not only does each figure’s head look spot on to the actor, but this Build-a-Bridge concept is seriously ingenious. It really makes this set perfect for display.

The San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Star Trek: TNG Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head is limited to just 2,500 pieces and is currently available for purchase at Entertainment Earth for $19.99 here. Entertainment Earth also has the Commander Riker, Geordi and Worf Bobble Heads available for pre-order here also for $19.99 each.

SDCC 13 Exclusive Star Trek: TNG Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow!

San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Star Trek: The Next Generation Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow!

San Diego Comic-Con 2013 is almost here and the awesome exclusives keep being announced, like this awesome Star Trek: The Next Generation Wesley Crusher Build-a-Bridge Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! I mean couldn’t we all use a little Wil Wheaton bobble head on our shelf!?! This SDCC ’13 exclusive kicks off a new Star Trek bobble head series from Bif Bang Pow that connects to the other 7 Build-a-Bridge figures to create the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation! A new bobble head in the series will be introduced by Bif Bang Pow! each month for the next eight months.

The son of Dr. Beverly Crusher, Wesley is recreated here seated at a detailed L-shaped console on the bridge of the Enterprise. This resin figure stands 6” tall, and features an amazing resemblance to actor Wil Wheaton who played the part of Wesley Crusher in the classic television show.

The Blot’s Heading to Wizard World’s Austin Comic-Con 2012

Wizard World Austin Comic-Con 2012 - Star Trek The Next Generation 25th Anniversary Reunion Event

This weekend The Blot’s heading to Austin for Wizard World’s Austin Comic-Con! Last year’s convention was surprisingly big, and with Austin just 2.5 hours away I felt like it was a show that I couldn’t miss. Once again the line-up is incredibly strong, with an impressive line-up of both comic book creators and Hollywood superstars. Without a doubt the biggest event of the convention is Saturday night’s Star Trek: The Next Generation event. The show’s entire cast is reuniting for their first US even in honor of the show’s 25th Anniversary! The Blot grew up on ST: TNG and I’m more than a little excited to see Patrick Stewart, Wil Wheaton, LeVar Burton and more!

Austin Comic-Con will also feature comic book superstars Neal Adams, Humberto Ramos, Jim Cheung, Greg Horn, and some of my personal favorites Hope Larson, Nick Pitarra, Rob Guillory and Joe Eisma! Along with the cast of ST: TNG, Wizard World will be hosting actors Eliza Dushku, The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker, WWE's CM Punk, Ray Park and Dean Cain. It should be a fun event and The Blot will be live tweeting from the convention all weekend. So if you’re not already following me at Twitter.com/TheBlotSays go do so now!

Wil Wheaton Plush Figure by Joel Watson of HijiNKS ENSUE

Lil' Wil Wheaton Plushie from HijiNKS ENSUE and Wil Wheaton

Joel Watson, creator of the hit webcomic HijiNKS ENSUE, has teamed up with Wil Wheaton to produce the very first (and probably only) Whil Wheaton plush doll. Whether you’re a huge Star Trek: The Next Generation fan or just an internet geek who follows Wil’s every move on TV, Twitter and via his blog you’re going to love this Lil’ Wil Wheaton Plushie.

Lil' Wil Wheaton Plushie from HijiNKS ENSUE

According to the legend of the Lil’ Wil Wheaton Plushie, Wil dared Joel via Twitter to draw him as a plushie. Almost a year later the little guy now exists in the real world. For just $19.95 you can own your own Wil Wheaton plush to cuddle with at night while wearing your Star Trek pajamas! Just make sure it’s not a set of red shirt Star Trek pajamas. You can pick up this snarky Wheaton doll at the HijiNKS ENSUE online store.

SDCC 09 - Batman: The Brave and The Bold Action League Toy Line

As cool as Hasbro’s Marvel Super Hero Squad figures are, deep down The Blot’s a DC Comics guy at heart. So I was excited to find out Mattel would be releasing their own version of Hasbro's Super Hero Squad figures called the Action League based on the popular cartoon Batman: The Brave and The Bold.

I saw Wave 1 of the Action League 2-packs at my local Target last week, and from the looks of the poster below a ton of other figures are in the works. My favorite part of the Action League is the diversity of characters included in the toy line, but what else would you expect from a line of action figures based on Batman: The Brave and The Bold. That cartoon has included pretty much every single character in the DC Universe.

Best of all, Mattel will be releasing a Ted Kord Blue Beetle figure! Now you too can act out the exploits of the Wil Wheaton voiced Blue Beetle II, especially since it’s the only version of Blue Beetle II still up and running (at least sort of anyway). And if you’re a big fan of Batman, Action League is the toy line for you. Mattel will be releasing at least 10 different versions of the Caped Crusader.
