Justice League Dunny Keychain Series by Kidrobot x DC Comics

Yesterday, Kidrobot released what The Blot considers their greatest Dunny series of all time – the Justice League Dunny Keychain Series! Ok, it may not be their most artistic series, and I know fans don’t generally care for licensed Dunny designs but this new 1.5” Dunny series features The Blot’s all time favorite DC Comics super hero, Booster Gold! Seriously, what more could a comic book fan ask for than an officially licensed Dunny?!?! I don’t know who at KR chose this line-up, but thanks!

For this release, Kidrobot has teamed up with DC Comics to shrink the Dunny down to small crime fighting size. Batman & The Joker Dunny 5” Vinyl Figures by Kidrobot x DC Comics

Kidrobot and DC Comics have launched their newest collaboration, a killer Batman Vinyl Figure Capsule Collection! The Blot absolutely loves all four of these officially licensed figures, each from a different period of the caped crusader’s history.

Toy Review: Batman & The Joker Labbit Vinyl Figures by Kidrobot x DC Comics

Although The Blot has been covering and collecting Kidrobot for over 8 years now, I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never owned or reviewed one of Frank Kozik’s adorable Labbits. That all changes today thanks to our good friends at Entertainment Earth who have generously provided these awesome Batman and The Joker DC Comics 7” Labbit vinyl figures to review!!! To be completely honest with you, I went into this review with very low expectations. While I’m normally a sucker for any designer art toy that features DC Comics characters, there were two things going against these Labbits: 1) I wasn’t overly impressed with Kidrobot’s Marvel Comics line and 2) The past few years KR’s overall QC has been really bad. That being said, I was seriously blown away by these figures from the moment I opened their boxes!

The one thing Kidrobot has always done well was packaging artwork and these two full colored boxes rock. I especially love how much of The Joker’s personality they put into the box art of both figures. Plus both boxes feature spray paint graffiti style graphics, which tie in perfectly with Kidrobot’s long history of street art themed art toys. The boxes do a great job appealing to fans of both DC Comics and Kidrobot. This is how you meld the world of designer art toys and comic books!

While the packaging is cool, it’s the figures we all really care about right? Let me just say, the Batman Labbit is fantastic! The figure’s paint application is seriously perfect, without a smidge or misplaced line anyway. Both of these DC Comics Labbits are some of the best painted figures I’ve seen from Kidrobot in forever. They went all out on Batman’s super detailed face, and personally I’m glad Kidrobot mad sure to includ Batman’s signature utility belt and a number of his bat-themed tools (including the Batagrang). What really surprised me is that the Batman Labbit came with a removable fabric cape! From the pictures I’d see I always assumed the cape was painted on. But here you get a really nice cape that attaches under the figure’s chin via Velcro.

Fans of The Joker will also love this retro styled Labbit! The Joker Labbit sports his traditional purple pinstripe suit and even has a bow on its back (just like DC’s old school Super Powers designs). And of course it’s not the Joker without his signature green hair. Surprisingly, The Joker’s overall paint details aren’t as complicated as Batman’s, but man is the Joker’s face sooo killer! Just look at that menacing grin and deep black eyes! Both 7” long figures also include a character specific accessory, a Joker playing card for Batman and a squirting flower for The Joker.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Batman or a die-hard Labbit collector, these DC Comics x Kidrobot Batman and The Joker 7” Labbits are not to be missed! Both mid-sized figures turned out perfect and you won’t be disappointed spending your hard earned money on these figures with their exceptional paint detailing. They will definitely make a great addition to any collector’s toy collection!

Batman & The Joker Labbit Vinyl Figures by Kidrobot x DC Comics

The final release in Kidrobot’s new DC Comics Vinyl Figure Collection has been released and it’s these awesome Batman and The Joker 7” Labbits! The Dark Knight and The Clown Prince of Crime have been redesigned by Frank Kozik and been given the Labbit treatment. The Batman Labbit comes wearing his traditional black and gray outfit and includes a deck of Joker playing cards accessory, while The Joker Labbit wears his signature purple suit and comes with a squirting flower in his teeth.

These DC Comics x Kidrobot x Frank Kozik Labbits stand 5” tall x 7” long x 4” wide and come packaged in a full colored box. Both the Batman and The Joker Labbit vinyl figures are currently available for purchase at Entertainment Earth for $49.99 each here.

DC Comics “New 52” Mini Figure Blind Box Series by Kidrobot

After a lengthy delay, Kidrobot’s much anticipated DC Comics “New 52” Blind Box Mini Figure Series has finally hit store shelves! For this series, Kidrobot has taken the heroes and villains of the DC Universe and put their unique spin on their modern day looks. What The Blot loves most of all about this series is it’s not just another Batman centric toy line. And even though it doesn’t include Booster Gold, Kidrobot did an amazing job picking a wide range of figures from DC’s original “New 52” soft reboot. I especially love how many characters they included from the Dark/Vertigo corner of the DCU!

The DC Comics “New 52” Mini Figure Blind Box Series by Kidrobot includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Blue Beetle, Red Hood, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, and Deadman, and villains The Joker and Harley Quinn. The only shocking part of this awesome series is how few villains were included! But let’s be honesty, you’ve got to love the diversity of this toy line. And any designer toy line that includes Cyborg, Blue Beetle, Animal Man and Swamp Thing gets an A+ from The Blot.

The DC Universe Mini Figure Series includes 15 figures in all, and I have not heard any mention of variants or chase figures included in this blind box series. This awesome DC Comics series should be in stores everywhere now, but you can definitely order them online from Entertainment Earth here. DC Comics Blister Card Labbit Mini Figures by Kidrobot

Kidrbot’s first line of DC Comics vinyl figures hit the market last week and they look pretty sweet! The DC Comics Blister Card Labbit mini figure series includes 6 of the mightiest heroes and dastardly villains of the DC Universe. Each figure is 2.5” long and includes a character specific accessory, like Batman and a brown bag lunch from Alfred, Superman with Kryptonite, Green Lantern with his power ring, Cyborg with an oil can, Red Hood with a grenade and Bane with a barbell. Frank Kozik’s Labbit never looked so heroic!

Each DC Comics 2.5” Labbit vinyl figure comes packaged on a full color blister card and retails for $11.99 each. Collectors can purchase a full set of all 6 figures from Entertainment Earth for just $54.99 here.

DC Comics Mini Figure Concept Art by Kidrobot

If like The Blot you’ve been jonzing for more information on Kidrobot’s upcoming line of DC Comics vinyl figures, you’re in luck! Check out this awesome concept art of KR’s soon to be released DC Comics Mini Figures. There’s really not much new information here, as the concept art matches up to the designs Kidrobot had on display at ToyFair 2014 (originally seen here). But boy do these figures look great! Sadly the 3” toy line will be featuring DC Comics’ “New 52” designs, which are generally terrible.

According to the concept artwork above, the DC Comics Mini Figure Series will include Aquaman, Batgirl, Batman, Darkseid, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Ambush Bug, Shazam, Animal Man, Superman, Cyborg, Swamp Thing, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poinson Ivy.

Surprisingly, this toy line is pretty hero specific, with only one true villain included – Darkseid. I say that because in the “New 52” universe Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poision Ivy are basically considered good guys with their memberships in the Justice League of America, Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey respectively. But where is the love for the ‘90s era Justice League!?! These figures better sell well so I get a second wave of designs featuring Booster Gold, Guy Gardner, Blue Beetle and the Martian Manhunter!

First Look: New DC Comics x Kidrobot Vinyl Figures

For The Blot the biggest announcement coming out of ToyFair 2014 was Kidrobot’s acquisition of the DC Comics license! Kidrobot will be releasing a ton of new officially licensed toys this year, but the only property they hadn’t leaked any information on coming into ToyFair was their collaboration with DC Comics. As you know The Blot’s a HUGE DC Comics fan and I have been seriously drooling over these ToyFair 2014 pics courtesy of ToyArk.com!

The Blot especially loves seeing so many different Kidrobot x DC Comics offerings. According to Kidrobot’s ToyFair 2014 booth the toy company will be releasing a line of blind box DC Comics New 52 mini figures, a line of blind box DC Comics Labbits, individually carded DC Comics Labbits and a retro line of Super Powers DC Comics Mini Figures! The Blot’s kind of obsessed with all things Super Powers, especially blister card packaging, so you know I’m going to be all over this release.

What’s really cool about this release is the variety of characters Kidrobot will be including in their DC Comics toy lines. Of course you’ve got Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League, but there’s also Animal Man, Deadman, Blue Beetle, Firestorm, Swamp Thing and multiple Red Hood figures. But what’s a guy got to do to get a Booster Gold figure included in one of these releases!?! More details to come soon!!!
