Cancer Gets LOST Charity Auction - Bid Today!

Cancer Gets LOST Non-Profit Charity Event

Yesterday, a really awesome non-profit charity auction went live entitled Cancer Gets LOST, and The Blot implores you to check it out and get involved! Cancer Gets LOST is so much more than just a charity auction though; it is also a webcast and party all to benefit the National Brain Tumor Society. Cancer Gets LOST co-creators Jared (@agentbacardi) and Jo (@jopinionated) are producing and hosting a live webcast in Los Angeles on August 25 with LOST alum (cast and creative), coinciding with the online auction of LOST and TV/film memorabilia, props and autographed items. Bidding on these incredible items went live yesterday, August 15th, and are scheduled to end on Wednesday, August 29th.

Cancer Gets LOST Non-Profit Charity Auction

There were some amazing items donated for this great cause including LOST Be@rbricks and Kubricks, screen prints from Gallery1988’s LOST ARG print series, actual props from the television show and so much more! 100% of all proceeds from the auction, webcast and party will go directly to the Natioanl Brain Tumor Society, a charity selected in honor of Jo’s dear friend Jackie O, who passed away on August 3, 2012 after fighting brain tumors and cancer with great spirit for four years. This is such a great event and I hope everyone can help us tell cancer to get LOST!

Lost Season 6 Screen Print #8 - LOST by Olly Moss

The eighth and final print in the new LOST Season 6 screen print series by Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear is “LOST” by the super popular Olly Moss. This is the print The Blot’s been waiting all week for, and it definitely lived up to the hype! Moss continues to blow me away with each and every screen print he releases.

Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear Lost Season 6 Screen Print #8 - LOST by Olly Moss
Can you identify each and every LOST related element in the print above? If not, here’s a little cheat sheet: John Locke's wheelchair, the Ajira Airways logo, a broken Virgin Mary statue with heroine hidden inside, Sawyer’s glasses, a sonic fence pylon, the Dharma Initiative’s Swan Station logo, dynamite, Dharma fish biscuit, polar bear tracks, Locke’s knife, the Losties’ beach graveyard, Locke’s scar/eye, Charlie’s hand, the watchtower, the skeleton of a Dharma Initiative workman, Hurley’s lottery ticket with “the Numbers,” the Black Rock, Jin’s watch, the atomic bomb Jughead, the hieroglyphics, the Swan Station’s failsafe key, the radio tower, a Dharma van, the donkey wheel, Richard Alpert’s necklace, an ankh, Locke or Christian Shephard’s coffin, Charlie’s “Not Penny’s Boat” hand, the logo of Oceanic Airlines, Jack’s eye opening while laying in the bamboo field from the pilot episode, Nikki and Paolo’s diamonds/a spider’s web, and Kate’s handcuffs.

LOST” by Olly Moss is an 18”x24” screen print, comes hand signed and numbered by the artist, and has a limited edition run size of 550 prints. You could have purchased this print directly from Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear’s online store for $50 each before it sold out.

In celebration of Lost's series finale, and to bring finality to the LOST ARG poster series, eight top designers and artists, who are also fans of the show, were commissioned to create artwork celebrating top moments from the 6th and final season. Lost Season 6 Screen Print #7 - Kate and Claire by Ken Taylor

The seventh print in the new LOST Season 6 screen print series by Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear is “Kate and Claire” by the Australian artist Ken Taylor. Well, we finally got the temple print everyone’s been waiting for, even if it wasn’t exactly the scene we’d been hoping for. The Blot’s not a huge fan of the print’s brown color scheme, but I love the fact that Ken got to tackle the smoke monster again and I think he did an amazing job capturing the essence of Crazy Claire and her psycho obsession with killing Kate.

Lost Season 6 Screen Print #6 - Jin & Sun by Tara McPherson

The sixth print in the new LOST Season 6 screen print series by Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear is “Jin & Sun” by the very talented Tara McPherson. While “Jin & Sun” may not be my favorite LOST print, it is hands down the most beautiful…if only its subject wasn’t so morbid! I love Tara’s unique style, and her colors (or should I say inks) are always so vibrant and breathtaking.

Jin & Sun” by Tara McPherson is an 24”x18” screen print, comes hand signed and numbered by the artist, and has a limited edition run size of 550 prints. This print also features some killer metallic inks, which were used to make up Sun’s dress. Additionally, Tara pointed out on her blog that the screen print can “be hung any orientation, which I wanted to do to add to the weightlessness of the characters. Though I did have to pick one side to sign and number them.” You can purchase this print directly from Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear’s online store for $50 each.

Lost Season 6 Screen Print #5 - Jacob and the Man In Black by Jeff Soto

The fifth print in the new LOST Season 6 screen print series by Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear is “Jacob and the Man In Black” by Jeff Soto. This has got to be hands down the most controversial of the LOST screen prints released so far.

While Soto is a big name in the world of art (and he’s released some killer vinyl figures as well), his design has not won over the LOST community. But, I think many LOST fans were swayed when Soto explained the meaning behind the skull on his blog (link). He stated it is the smashed in skull of Claudia, the biological mother of Jacob and the Man In Black. I think it’s pretty cool piece when you see the symbolism behind it…how the twins grew out of Claudia’s life and subsequent death.

Lost Season 6 Screen Print #4 - The Candidate Cave by Guy Burwell

The fourth print in the new LOST Season 6 screen print series by Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear is “The Candidate Cave” by Guy Burwell. The Blot really digs Burwell’s style, and of the four screen prints released so far I think I like this one the best. I think it’s because it has such a comic book feel to it. Every time I look at the image below I think to myself how killer this would be as a splash page in a LOST graphic novel! You can see more of Guy Burwell’s screen prints here, including a killer poster he did for Pearl Jam earlier this month.

Lost Season 6 Screen Print #3 - The Black Rock by Daniel Danger

The third print in the new LOST Season 6 screen print series by Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear is “The Black Rock” by Daniel Danger. “The Black Rock” is also the first print in the LOST ARG Screen Print Series II to sell out in its first day of release (in less 2 hours to be exact). I think that says a lot about Danger’s popularity and the overall beauty of this print. The quote at the bottom of DD’s print reads “…today is the first time I’ve ever come back,” and I believe the figure in the bottom left hand corner is supposed to be Richard Alpert (you can just make out the strap of his trademark messenger bag in the picture below).

Lost Season 6 Screen Print #2 - Desmond by Jeff Boyes

The second print produced in honor of LOST’s 6th and final season by Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear is “Desmond” by Jeff Boyes. Wow, we’re two prints into DCaaPB’s new Lost ARG screen print series and both feature Desmond! “Desmond” features the moment in LOST Season 6 where Des is finally reunited with the love of his life, Penelope Widmore, in the Flash Sideways timeline. According to Boyes, there are a few hidden things in “Desmond” that you can't really see in the preview. Sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it? Can’t wait to find out what those hidden elements are.

Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear Lost Season 6 Screen Print #1 - Not Penny's Boat by Little Friends Of Printmaking
Charlie almost killing Desmond in order to awaken Des’ repressed memories from his life on the island is one of Season 6’s key moments, and The Blot’s pretty excited to see it forever immortalized as a screen print. “Not Penny’s Boat” by Little Friends Of Printmaking is an 18”x24” screen print, comes hand signed and numbered by the artist, and has a limited edition run size of 550 prints. “Not Penny’s Boat” also features glow-in-the-dark elements in Charlie’s hand. Lost Screen Print - I’m With Jacob by Mike Mitchell

DamonCarltonandaPolarBear.com has released an all new screen print, “I’m With JACOB” by Mike Mitchell, which is based on Mitchell’s “I’m With COCO” image. The “I’m With COCO” logo was used by fans worldwide to show their support for Conan O’Brien after the comedian was unceremoniously fired from The Tonight Show by NBC last January.

Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear Lost Screen Prints - I'm With Jacob by Mike Mitchell
The “I’m With JACOB” print is a cool idea, but it’s not necessarily something I see myself wanting to frame and hang on my wall. Plus, $50 for a recycled idea seems a bit pricey considering the print’s run size. I love al the creativity being poured into LOST’s farewell, but I also hate seeing fans’ unyielding support for a show taken advantage of.

“I’m With JACOB” is an 18”x24” screen print, comes hand signed and numbered by the artist, and has a limited edition run size of 815 prints. “I’m With JACOB” can now be purchased from DamonCarltonandaPolarBear.com’s online store for $50 each.

Lost Live Screen Print #3 - Hurley by Kevin Tong

The third and final Lost Live: The Final Celebration screen print by Kevin Tong has been unveiled and it features Hugo “Hurley” Reyes with his trusty, barely running Dharma van. I got to meet Kevin Tong last weekend at the Renegade Craft Fair in Austin, and from everything he said, LOST Live sounded amazing! The Blot is truly jealous of everyone who got to attend this once in a life time event.

Lost Live Screen Print #2 - Sawyer by Kevin Tong

We’re just a few hours away from the LOST Live: The Final Celebration event at UCLA’s Royce Hall and the second Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear LOST Live screen print was unveiled last night. I’m guessing this means we may or may not see the image of the third LOST print before the event kicks off 7:30pm PDT, but I’m crossing my fingers that we do.

Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear Lost Screen Prints - Lost Live #2 Sawyer by Kevin Tong
The LOST Live screen print #2 is the second part of an all new triptych designed by artist Kevin Tong specifically for the LOST Live event. It depicts a scene from LOST Live, with Oscar winning composer Michael Giacchino conducting a live orchestra as an episode LOST plays in the background. The LOST scene in question appears to be Sawyer reading (either his letter to the real Sawyer or one of Sawyer’s famous books) while sitting on the remains of Oceanic Flight 815.

UPDATE: LOST Live screen print #2, “Sawyer,” is 18”x24”, comes hand signed and numbered by the artist, and has a limited edition run size of 300 prints. LOST Live - Sawyer can now be purchased from DamonCarltonandaPolarBear.com’s online store for $50 each.

The Return of Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear’s Limited Edition Lost Prints

It is amazing how one single tweet can excite an entire fan base. Ever since Gallery 1988’s Jensen Karp tweeted “Game back on” with a link to Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear, LOST fans have been trying to figure out what exactly that cryptic messages means. So far, all we do know is this: DCaaPB has been re-launched and now features what appears to be an all new LOST screen print by Kevin Tong advertising the upcoming event “LOST Live: The Final Celebration.”

Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear - LOST Live: The Final Celebration Screen Print by Kevin Tong
While most LOST fans are hoping this signifies the release of a second set of LOST prints highlighting key moments from the show’s final three seasons (Seasons 4-6), The Blot has no idea what to expect. According to DCaaPB, DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com will be in the UCLA Royce Hall Lobby for the upcoming LOST Live. Their booth will be accessible to non-ticket holders, as well as show attendees, and they will most definitely be bringing surprises! Here’s hoping those of us not in LA will still be able to get our hands on whatever LOST screen prints are in the works. More info to come soon (I hope).

LOST Live: The Final Celebration Screen Print by Kevin Tong
LOST Live: The Final Celebration features Oscar winning composer Michael Giacchino conducting a live orchestral performance featuring the iconic music of LOST. LOST Live will take place at UCLA's Royce Hall in Los Angeles, CA on Thursday, May 13th, to celebrate the upcoming series finale. The concert will also feature appearances by LOST cast members, including Nestor Carbonell, Michael Emerson, and Jorge Garcia. In addition, a special preview of the penultimate episode will be screened immediately after the concert. Sounds pretty cool doesn’t it? I’ve been told tickets to LOST Live have already sold out, but hopefully they’ll release a copy of it in the upcoming LOST: The Complete Series box set.

Lost - Hand Painted Custom Taweret Resin Statues

Lost Underground Art Project at Gallery 1988 - Unpainted Custom Taweret Resin Statues
16 blank 8” resin Lost Taweret statues (also known as the mysterious “Four Toed Statue”) were created by hand in an original mold and given to some of The Blot’s favorite artists to customize in their own unique styles. These awesome Lost resin figures debuted at last Tuesday night’s Lost Underground Art Project at Gallery 1988, and the results were amazing! I’ve included a few of my favorite hand painted Taweret statues below, but you can see all sixteen figures here.

The Lost Showdown Series by Scott C.

One of the highlights of this week’s Lost Underground Art Project at Gallery 1988 was the 24 piece Lost Showdown series by Scott Campbell. Each Lost Showdown is a watercolor painting on 5” x 5” archival paper. The Blot’s a huge fan of Scott C.’s work, and I make it a point to read his webcomic Double Fine Action Comics on a weekly basis. If you love pop culture as much as The Blot, you’ll love Scott’s imaginative work!

Lost Underground Art Project at Gallery 1988 - The Lost Showdown Series 1 by Scott C.
I’ve been wanting to buy a Scott C. original for a while now, and when I heard he was going to be a part of the Lost Underground Art Project I thought my moment had finally come. Sadly, it didn’t happen as all of my favorite Lost Showdown pieces had already been sold! With 24 pieces it’s definitely hard to pick a favorite, but I’d have to say Echo vs. Smokey or Sawyer vs. Polar Bear are definitely up there as 1A and 1B.

If you’re interested in purchasing one of Scott C.’s Lost Showdown paintings, contact Gallery 1988 immediately at 323-937-7088 as only a few remain (if any)! Each Lost Showdown comes framed and sells for $350.

Lost Screen Print #16 - LOST by Tyler Stout

This is it, the 16th and final Lost screen print in the Lost Alternate Reality Game series released in honor of Lost: The Final Season. The print is entitled “LOST” and is by one of the most popular artists in the screen print genre, Tyler Stout. Some were concerned the print couldn’t possibly live up to the hype surrounding this ARG, especially after the huge build up to last night’s Lost Underground Art Project, but I think Stout blew all expectations out of the water! According to the Powers that Be, “LOST” includes two spoilers for the show’s upcoming 6th season, can anyone spot them!?!

Damon, Carlton and A Polar Bear Limited Edition Lost Screen Prints - LOST by Tyler Stout
Tyler Stout’s limited edition Lost screen print “LOST” is the largest Lost screen print to date, measuring an impressive 24”x35”. Like the previous 15 prints released on Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear, “LOST” has a run size of 300 pieces and comes hand signed and numbered by the artist. This extra large Lost print will retail for $70 and go on sale later today here.

In celebration of LOST's final season and as a project of fan appreciation, 16 top designers and artists, who are also fans of the show, were commissioned to create artwork celebrating one of the series' most memorable, and unforgettable, "water cooler" moments. This ultimate "fan art" was then turned into labor intensive, hand-pulled screen prints, limited to an edition of just 300, with less than 200 available to the public through our websites. Each beautiful poster tells its own different story, allowing the fan to relive memorable and influential moments in an artistic manner, as the show's storied run comes to a close. Once this limited edition print has sold out, they will never be printed again. Celebrate the fandom, community and family created by one of televisions' greatest shows by hanging a little part of its history, inspiration and influence on your wall. (link)

The Lost Underground Art Project Opens Tonight

Everyone involved with the Lost Underground Art Project (opening tonight at Gallery 1988) has been so tightlipped, The Blot’s been unable to find out any additional details about the show other than what was announced on the event’s official flyer. Thankfully, the same can’t be said for the great art website Arrested Motion! Yesterday, AM debuted the beautiful Lost themed mixed media painting below created by Edwin Ushiro for the Lost Underground Art Project.

The Lost Underground Art Project - Unnamed Lost Mixed Media Painting by Edwin Ushiro
The unnamed piece above by Edwin Ushiro features Hurley, Sun, Sawyer, Jin, Michael, Jack, Sayid and Locke wondering through the island’s dense jungle in search of...something. After seeing this amazing Lost artwork, The Blot is even more excited for tonight’s opening. If only I could be there in person! According to the Gallery 1988 website, the entire exhibition will be put on its website after the show's opening (hopefully by Wednesday).

The Lost Underground Art Project at Gallery1988 Los Angeles

The Blot doesn’t know much, but opening Tuesday, December 15th at Gallery1988 in LA is The Lost Underground Art Project. How crazy is this latest news from the Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear website!?! On display will be all 16 screen prints from the DCaaPB Lost ARG plus LOST inspired artwork by artists such as Alex Pardee, Ben Strawn, Chris Ryniak and Scott Campbell.

The Lost Underground Art Project at Gallery1988 LA presented by Ronie Midfew Arts & Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear
There will also be “surprises” at the Lost Underground Art Project from some of The Blot’s favorite artists, including Jesse Hernandez, kaNO, Jon Burgerman, Scribe, 64 Colors, Brent Nolasco, Dave Pressler, Motorbot and Reactor88. I have no idea what kinds of “surprises” are in store for the lucky few able to attend this amazing Lost tribute in two weeks, but hopefully more details will be immerging shortly!

The Lost Underground Art Project opens at Gallery1988 LA Tuesday, December 15th from 7-10pm and runs through December 24th. So if you live in the LA area, be sure you make your way to Gallery1988 sometime before Christmas.
