16 blank 8” resin Lost Taweret statues (also known as the mysterious “Four Toed Statue”) were created by hand in an original mold and given to some of The Blot’s favorite artists to customize in their own unique styles. These awesome Lost resin figures debuted at last Tuesday night’s Lost Underground Art Project at Gallery 1988, and the results were amazing! I’ve included a few of my favorite hand painted Taweret statues below, but you can see all sixteen figures here.

BUDs Blind Box Series III by Jamungo

Ever since Jamungo released the artist line-up for its BUDs Series 3 blind box series, The Blot’s been anxiously awaiting a look at the series’ designs. Thankfully, this is one blind box series that has lived up to the hype! While we still don’t know which Muttpop character will show up in BUD form as the series’ mystery chase, I love Jamungo’s decision to include its Sqadt and CrappyCat characteras in the series. No word on the set’s ratios yet, but here’s hoping none of the designs are too terribly hard to get!

Baroness’ 30 Customs x 30 Friends Charity Auction

The Blot’s a sucker for a good cause, so I wanted to pass along the details of this charity auction put together by Kidrobot’s Toy Baroness. The following press release is from the Baroness herself:

Baroness Presents 30 Customs x 30 Friends - An Auction to Benefit the Children of Cambodia
30 Customs by 30 Artists: An Auction to Benefit the Children of Cambodia is the first step in trying to help the children that have impacted my life. After traveling to Cambodia last year I fell in love with the people of that country. Every day I think about the amazing children I met and how I could help them. Most of these children lack the necessities of food, clothing, shoes, and transportation. Many can't even afford the pencils and notebooks they need to attend school. So instead of attending class they sell trinkets at the temples in order to survive.

Baroness’ 30 Customs x 30 Friends Charity Auction - MAD Custom Munny
I have reached out to 30 of my friends and asked them to create a custom toy specifically for this auction. Every cent from the sale of these customs will go directly to help the children I have met in Cambodia. With the help of people that I have met in Cambodia, I will be delivering clothing, shoes, books, paper, pens, and bicycles to children of Siem Reap villages. It has been a passion and a dream of mine to use art as a way of helping children and communities all over the World, and I am excited about this first step.

Baroness’ 30 Customs x 30 Friends Charity Auction - Andrew Bell and 123KLAN Custom Munnys
Available now on eBay are one-of-a-kind custom works from: 123KLAN, Alex Pardee, Andrew Bell, Beast Brothers, Brian Morris, DEPH, DEVILROBOTS, FILTH, Gary Baseman, ILoveDust, Jime Litwalk, Joe Capobianco, Joe Ledbetter, Jon Burgerman, MAD, Maze23 Brooklyn, Mori Chack, Nathan Jurevicius, Pon, SEEN, Shawnimals, Sket One, SourBones, TADO, Tara McPherson, TILT, Tim Biskup, Triclops Studios, Urban Medium, and Christian Jacobs of YoGabbaGabba!

Baroness’ 30 Customs x 30 Friends Charity Auction - Jon Burgerman and FILTH Custom Munnys

I am very excited about this opportunity to help people that have impacted me so much. I hope that you find a custom you love and bid! If you are interested in helping in any way I am not only looking for monetary donations- If you can provide clothing, notebooks, papers, or pens that would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email me at toybaroness@gmail.com. Also, if you are interested in directly donating to a non-profit for Cambodian Children, please check out The Cambodian Children’s Fund.

Kidrobot - Rainy Day 3 Inch Dunny by Jon Burgerman

Kidrobot - Jon Burgerman's Ye Olde English 3 Inch DunnyIt’s amazing what a difference a year makes. 2008 saw Kidrobot collectors complaining night and day about the high production numbers of the company’s “limited edition” figures and the poor designs the company chose to produce. But since the start of 2009 fans have been ecstatic. First we saw the production of two amazingly detailed 8 inch Dunnys with small run sizes and extremely limited edition chase variant colorways. Now comes news that Kidrobot is releasing a previously unannounced all new 3 inch Dunny: Jon Burgerman’s Rainy Day Dunny.

Kidrobot - Rainy Day 3 Inch Dunny by Jon Burgerman Front & Back
The Rainy Day Dunny looks to be a new take on Burgerman’s Ye Olde English Dunny, with new doodles all over his Dunny’s now blue (instead of orange) body. Best of all, the Rainy Day Dunny is limited to a run of just 1,000 figures and has a retail price of just $9.95. That sure beats the new price of $75 that recently produced 8” Dunnys limited to 1,000 figures are selling for. I was also pretty shocked to find out that this Dunny will be released in a box featuring all new artwork by Jon Burgerman. That’s another nice touch to this unannounced release.

Kidrobot - Rainy Day 3 Inch Dunny and Box by Jon Burgerman
This new Rainy Day Dunny is a Kidrobot exclusive and can be found only when it pours. According to Kidrobot.com this limited-edition figure is only available in Kidrobot stores on rainy days (and on Kidrobot.com too because it ''rains'' there from time-to-time as well). The Blot has no idea if the whole “rainy day” thing is literal or not, but Kidrobot suggests keeping an eye on the weather starting Thursday, April 16, 2009. So I am assuming this limited edition figure will be going on sale April 16th. For those of us not lucky enough to live in cities with Kidrobot store you should be able to purchase the Rainy Day Dunny online here.

Ye Olde English UK Dunny Series - Jon Burgerman, HiCalorie x Julie West, Triclops, Tado, Doktor A & Clutter DunnysSome of the best looking designs seem to be pretty easy to get, and even the rarest figures are only 1/50. Here’s hoping the mystery ratio figures aren’t any harder to get, because I really love the Doktor A and HiCalorie x Julie West Dunnys. I'm not really sure how many of these UK Dunnys I’ll actually be trying to get, but I will definitely be attending the local Dunny Trading Party here in Houston, TX at Domy Books on Thursday night. Below are the latest pictures of most of the Ye Olde English Dunny Series (still cant find pictures of the Shok-1 or Keanan Duffty chase figures).

Ye Olde English UK 3 Inch Dunny Series and Ratios

Kidrobot sure knows how to start off the New Year with a bang. This week they announced a brand new series of 3” Dunnys would be coming out on January 22nd. The Ye Olde English Dunny Series features some of the hottest artists from the UK and is sure to have fans scrambling to collect the set’s 17 blind boxed 3 inch vinyl figures, which also includes 2 chase figures. The only downside to this series is the increased price. A blind box will now cost collectors $7.95 a figure.

For all the Dunny collectors out there The Blot is excited to share the UK Series’ ratios, which you can check out in the photo below. From the numbers here, it looks like it shouldn’t be too hard to collect the entire series! Without having seen the two chase figures yet, I have to say I think the Rain Man Dunny is my favorite so far with Doktor A’s figure coming at a close second. Anyone else picked out their favorite UK Dunny yet?

Jon Burgerman Poster at IKEA

I was stunned this weekend when I caught out the corner of my eye an eerily familiar looking poster hanging on the wall of a fake room at my local IKEA. Aly and I had gone there to look for a cheap rug for her office and instead I find a poster entitled BILD by British artist/illustrator Jon Burgerman.

Jon Burgerman BILD Poster at IKEA
Kidrobot Series 4 Dunny by Jon BurgermanI have no idea if this is a new poster or not, but it’s new to me and totally threw me for a loop. Either this is a great thing for Burgerman, who is now getting international exposure to his artwork, or it’s a horrible thing for Burgerman because many art and vinyl toy enthusiasts will now view him as “selling out.” I have no idea which applies to this particular case, but I probably lean towards the former. Either way, this is just another sign of how modern art and the designer vinyl figure market is going mainstream.

So, if you’re looking for some cheap Jon Burgerman artwork to add to your collection, look no further than your local Swedish home furnishings store IKEA where the poster BILD can be yours for the low, low price of $14.00.

Two New Jon Burgerman Releases

After mentioning this week’s release of the new Jon Burgerman 8 inch Dunny Tea Bear on Monday, I thought I’d share two other recent releases from the UK artist. The first one is a new Threadless t-shirt, which went on sale last week. This Threadless Select t-shirt is entitled Beaver Circus Spectacular and is a 10-color screen print design on a custom khaki colored shirt. As Burgerman explains his latest design, “imagine a circus, a wonderous canvas cathedral of delights, with tiny flags flapping about its roof. The sweet smell of stale, bubblegum candy floss floating on a summery breeze with the muffled sounds of clowns honking each others cherry red noses coming from within. Welcome, my friends, to the fuzzy majesty and high quality all pine wood interior of the Beaver Circus Spectacular!” (link)

Threadless - Beaver Circus Spectacular by Jon Burgerman
I think this second item, which came out earlier this month, is even cooler than the Threadless shirt. It’s a limited edition poster entitled Masher of the Universe and is being exclusively sold at UrbanRetro.co.uk. Burgerman explains where he came up with the look for his latest piece of artwork saying, “I revisited a childhood favourite cartoon of mine in my mind. I could see the pictures refracted through the plains of a prism, the lines began to melt and the colours radiated a comforting glow.” Any piece of art that includes a trippy looking He-Man, Skeletor and Battle Cat on it is definitely a masterpiece in my eyes! What can I say, I’m a sucker for all things 80’s pop culture. This poster is a must get for anyone who has ever reenacted Eternia’s battle of good vs. evil with the Masters of the Universe on the floor of their bedroom.

Masher Of The Universe limited edition poster by Jon Burgerman
The 297mm x 420mm Masher of the Universe poster is limited to a run of only 100 posters and has been printed on 9Lives Forest Stewardship Counsel certified 170gsm silk paper. To learn more about this awesome tribute to an 80’s icon, click here.
