WonderCon Exclusive Olive Edition Akashi 5YL 8” Vinyl Figure by Dave Bondi

This weekend Kusovinyl will be releasing the newest colorway of Dave Bondi’s awesome Akashi 5YL vinyl figure! The WonderCon 2014 Exclusive Olive Edition Akashi is limited to just 40 pieces and can be purchased at Kusovinyl’s booth #1247 for $65 each. The Blot assumes any remaining figures will be available for purchase at the Kusovinyl online store after the convention. And if you’re going to WonderCon, make sure to be at Kusovinyl’s booth on Saturday (April 19th) when Dave will be in attendance to sign for all the fans!

It’s been 5 years (hence the 5YL title) since the original Akashi vinyl figure was released, and Dave’s mash-up of Mickey Mouse and Super Mario is still as fresh as ever. Each Akashi 5YL figure stands 8” tall, features seven points of articulation, a removable hat, an additional set of hands, and replaceable eyes with heart shaped pupils.

Custom Forest Warlord Vinyl Figures by Skinner

Speaking of Bigfoot One’s Forest Warlord, check out this incredible new custom by Skinner! According to Skinner’s Instagram account there are at least two of these mind blowing custom Forest Warlords in existence, and The Blot’s hoping there are even more of these in the works. I’ve always loved Skinner’s use of colors and this series of customs might be his best yet. Just look at those piercing eyes and blood red teeth! The detailing on this guy is exquisite.

What I like best about this figure is Skinner’s use of black. There’s so little of it used to just accent some of the figure’s details, and yet it really shines surrounded by all these vibrant metallic colors. Look for more details about this exciting release from the Skinnman to come as soon as they’re announced!

3 New Forest Warlord Vinyl Figure Colorways by Bigfoot One!

Right before SDCC, Bigfoot One released not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 different colorways of his brand new vinyl figure The Forest Warlord! This is definitely a unique way to launch a new figure, but The Blot really digs it. I’m always hesitant to purchase a new figure because I’m always another colorway I might like more. This way, Bigfoot One has already released five of the figure’s planned 7 colorways, which I love. This way you pick the one you like the best or buy them all! It’s an awesome way to release such an epic 11” vinyl figure.

Currently the Original Forest Warlord Brown Edition (450 pieces), the “Hairy Metal” Black and Silver Edition (100 pieces), the “Grapeskunkape” Purple Edition (100 pieces), and the “Bigbud” Green Edition (100 pieces) are all available for purchase through Bigfoot One’s online store. The Blot’s a huge fan of this Bruce Lee inspired toy, and kaNO did a great job coming up with five unique colorways while staying true to the figure. The SDCC 2012 Exclusive "Longstreet" Dragon King features a red and white jumpsuit and has a limited edition run size of only 75 pieces. SDCC 12 Exclusive Jade Mictlan Resin Figure by Jesse Hernandez

There are so many amazing San Diego Comic-Con 2012 exclusives being announced every day now, but one not to be missed is the Jade Mictlan by Jesse Hernandez! OG Dragon King Vinyl Figure by kaNO

After blogging about both of kaNO’s Dragon King exclusives, I realized I had never talked about the original colorway. Designed as a tribute and homage to one of the biggest icons in American history, kaNO’s Dragon King was meant to capture Bruce Lee’s essence and attitude rather than being a carbon copy of his likeness. As kaNO explains, “the Dragon King was a labor of love for me and I couldn't be happier with it; it's not often you get the opportunity to make a toy of one of your biggest heroes."

There are seriously so many reasons why The Blot digs this figure. It’s the perfect mesh of kaNO’s signature style and a tribute to a true American Icon. Plus I just really love Bruce Lee. My only problem with this figure is I honestly can’t decide which of the three Dragon King colorways I want to pick up! The OG Dragon King vinyl figure stands 8” tall, includes a baton and camera gun, and comes packaged in a gift box with flocked blister. With a limited edition run size of just 250 pieces, the OG Edition Dragon King retails at designer toy stores worldwide for $65 each.

Tomenosuke Exclusive Green Hornet Dragon King by kaNO

Kuso Vinyl and kaNO have teamed up with Tomenosuke to release a very special Dragon King variant! The Green Hornet Dragon King is Tomenosuke exclusive and pays homage to Bruce Lee’s role as Kato in the original The Green Hornet television series. No word yet if this figure will only be available in Japan or if Tomenosuke will ship worldwide, but how great is this colorway!?! The Blot loves color schemes inspired by superheroes, and the Green Hornet and Kato are definitely underutilized characters. I blame the horrible Seth Rogen live action movie, but come on…how many other heroes can say they were actually in the 1960s era Batman TV show?

DCon Exclusive Bloody Mictlan Resin Figure by Jesse Hernandez

Here’s one release The Blot was not expecting! Jesse Hernandez and Kuso Vinyl have teamed up to produce a killer set of resin Mictlans! The clear red Bloody Mictlan resin figure has a limited edition run size 25 pieces and goes on sale November 5th at Designer Con 2011. Pick one up at the Kuso Vinyl DCon booth #111 as soon as the doors open because these bloody red figures will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Even better still, Jesse will be on hand from 2-3pm for a very special signing.

NYCC 2011 Exclusive Dragon King G.O.D. Edition by kaNO

Next week kaNO will be releasing his newest figure at New York Comic-Con, the 8″ Dragon King vinyl figure produced by Kusovinyl. The Blot’s a huge kaNo fan and I’ve really been looking forward to seeing the final product ever since the prototype first debuted at San Diego Comic-Con last summer. The first Dragon King colorway is entitled the G.O.D. Edition, and will be available exclusively at NYCC. This colorway is based on Bruce Lee’s character in the 1978 film The Game of Death, and features a yellow jumpsuit and green baton (just like Bruce’s in the movie) and a Bolex handheld camera.

The New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Dragon King G.O.D. Edition by kaNO has a limited edition run size of 75 figures and can be purchased exclusively at the myplasticheart booth #879 for $70.

WonderCon Exclusive Southern Mictlan Vinyl Figure by Jesse Hernandez

The third official colorway of Jesse Hernandez’ Mictlan vinyl figure is set to be released in just a few weeks! The Southern Mictlan is a blue, white and black colorway sold exclusively at WonderCon 2011 in two weeks by KusoVinyl. This is the first time The Blot’s seen Jesse’s Aztec style in this particular color scheme, and the results definitely blow me away!

You can purchase the Southern Mictlan vinyl figure by Jesse Hernandez during WonderCon 2011 at the KusoVinyl booth #736. Jesse will also be on hand throughout the weekend signing these killer figures. The Southern colorway has a limited edition run size of 85 pieces and will retail for $70 each. Any figures still remaining after WonderCon will most likely be found at the KusoVinyl online store, so keep your eyes peeled for their official online relese.

Birdman 40° Custom Celsius Vinyl Figure by Chauskoskis

On July 10th, the Toy Art Gallery in Los Angeles will be hosting, in conjunction with Kuso Vinyl, the Ganmetall Celsius Custom Show featuring custom Celsius vinyl figures from over 50 of the hottest artists in the industry. The Blot’s probably seen 2/3 of the custom Celsius figures made for the show and I have to say, every single one of them is amazing. This is by far one of the most impressive custom shows I’ve ever seen!


While I can’t spotlight every hand crafted Celsius debuting next week at the T.A.G., I would be remise if I didn’t point out Chauskoskis’ (a.k.a. Walter Jacott) entry, the Birdman 40° Celsius custom figure. The Blot’s a huge Hanna-Barbera fan and I love those old Birdman and the Galaxy Trio cartoons from the ‘60s, as well as [adult swim]’s send-up of the character in Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.


Chauskoskis did an incredible job sculpting Birdman’s head and his trusted sidekick, the blue eagle Avenger. Walter even came up with a backstory for the character as to why he’s sick (hence the thermometer in his mouth and why the custom is entitled Birdman 40°).
