POPaganda Streetwear T-Shirt Collection by Ron English

Street Fighter x Ron English T-Shirt Collection by Kidrobot

There is nothing that gets The Blot more excited than cool collaborations like this! Kidrobot has given the lethal warriors of Capcom’s Street Fighter video game series to pop artist Ron English and let him work his magic! Giving Ryu, Blanka and Guile a POPaganda makeover, English incorporates pinks, greens and blues (and a few Grins!) into each of his Street Fighter x Ron English t-shirt designs for a truly unique look. All four t-shirt designs seen here go on sale Thursday, October 10th, at all Kidrobot retail stores and Kidrobot.com for $30 each.

Apocalypse Dunny Series

And is it me or does Sam Fout’s Dunny look translucent!?! Kidrobot definitely went all out on this release!

Ron English x The Hundreds T-Shirt Collection

Last week The Hundreds released its newest collaboration, this time with the king of POPaganda, Ron English! With a career spanning three decades, Ron English, the world’s most famous pop artist, uses a photo-realist technique to create political, consumerist, and surrealist statements. The Hundreds by Ron English capsule collection features three t-shirt designs, each based on an original painting by Ron: “Smiley”, “Rabbit” and “Cowgirl”.

First up is the “Smiley” t-shirt, which features The Hundreds’ mascot Adam Bomb reinterpreted by Ron English in his trademark “Grin” style. This Adam Bomb is definitely all teeth! “Rabbit” features Ron English’s trademark creation, the 3 Eyed Rabbit, standing in front of a repeating blue and white bar logo. Last but not least is “Cowgirl”, another English staple, which features a woman with a cow's head, with a repeating pink The Hundreds bar logo in the background.

The Blot loves these types of collabs because it combines my love of pop culture, designer toys and clothing all into three awesome t-shirts!  Each Ron English x The Hundreds t-shirt comes in three colors, sizes S-XXL and retails for $36 each. ZacPac Exclusive Charlie GRIN Vinyl Figure Orange Shirt Colorway by Ron English

This ZacPac Exclusive is the third official colorway of the Ron English created, Made by Monsters produced Charlie GRIN­ vinyl figure. While The Blot loves Enlish’s GRIN figure, this exclusive isn’t getting me as excited as the two previous colorways. I think I need more of a change than just a figure's shirt color, but for the RE completists out there this is still a must get figure.


Everyone’s favorite ­loveable looser Charlie GRIN is available now for pre-sale through the ZacPac online store for around $100 each. The ZacPac Exclusive Charlie GRIN orange colorway is limited to 200 pieces and will ship sometime at the end of this month (May 2009).

Disney x MINDstyle Stitch Experiment 626 Artist Series

This is the type of release that really gets The Blot excited. What started as a traveling custom show entitled Experiment 626 featuring 8 inch vinyl Stitch figures has transformed into a full blown production series of six 5 inch vinyl Stitch figures based on the custom designs of some of the top artists in the game. You all know I’m a huge Disney fan and even though I’ve never seen Lilo & Stitch, I was really pumped to hear Disney and MINDstyle were doing this.


This new Disney x MINDstyle Stitch Experiment 626 Artist Series really came out firing by featuring some amazing and well known designs by Ron English, Buff Monster, kaNO, Peekaboo Monster and Angry Woebots. If you’re wondering how there are only five artists but six designs, it is because English had two different designs produced (X-Ray and Grin). These figures had their limited release at last weekend’s FX International show in Orlando and will be hitting stores worldwide this summer. I definitely plan on getting a few of these this summer at SDCC.

Each Disney x MINDstyle Stitch Experiment 626 Artist Series vinyl figure will retail for $25 and each design is limited to just 500 pieces.

Grin Original Colorway Vinyl Figure by Ron English

Ron English’s second Charlie Grin colorway is set to be released in just a few short weeks. The Grin Original colorway vinyl figure is a more traditional ode to Peanut’s Charlie Brown and features Charlie Grin in Charlie Brown’s trademark yellow shirt. The Blot never pulled the trigger on English’s original Grin figure, but I don’t think I’ll be able to resist all of this figure's pop culture goodness now that he is sporting good old Charlie Brown’s traditional yellow t-shirt.


The Original Colorway Grin, officially titled the Chapel of Dawn x Made by Mosters x Ron English Grin, will be limited to just 100 pieces and is set for release on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Ron English - Charlie “Grin” Vinyl Figure

The King of Popaganda, Ron English is unleashing an all new creation on the world, Charlie “Grin.” The “Grin” designer vinyl figure is inspired by one of the most popular comic strip characters of all time, the loveable loser and star of Peanuts, Charlie Brown. The Blot grew up on Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang, so you would think this pop culture version of the class cartoon character would be right up my alley. And it would be too if it didn’t freak me out so much. Just staring at the figure’s skull exposed through it’s devilish grin gives me the heebie jeebies.


English is best known for his twisting of “carefully created corporate iconographies so that they are turned upside down, and are used against the very corporation they are meant to represent.” (link) If you’ve never seen his work with McDonalds’ Ronald McDonald or Disney’s Mickey Mouse then head here to English’s official website and check out more of his amazing work.


Charlie “Grin,” produced by Made by Monsters and Ron English, is a 7 inch vinyl figure which is set to be released on January 13th at a private art show and toy release party at Garageworks Gallery in Hong Kong. After that the figure should be available in stores worldwide for the suggested retail price of around $100.
