Playful Gorilla and Cash Cannon have assembled a who’s who of artists for this weekend’s The Arsenal of Artists “No Toon Left Behind!” Group Art Show, which pays tribute to a time long gone when Saturday mornings were for sitting in front of your television set and watching nothing but cartoons! While the landscape of children’s TV has changed forever, those of us who grew up in the ‘70s and ‘80s remember what it was like spending those early weekend hours watching some of the most ridiculous awesome animated shows of all time.

The Arsenal of Artists gather this Saturday, August 15th, from 4-9pm at the Suburban Vinyl Art Gallery in Waldwick, NJ to raise their voices and recall their memories leaving no ‘toon behind! “No Toon Left Behind!” will feature the biggest lineup of the summer, which includes unbelievably roster of talented artists ranging from toy artists to customizers, from digital illustrators to 3D artists. Each participating artist will bring original artwork with a cartoony twist throwing back to their favorite childhood memories.

Toy Review: Inner Child Vinyl Figure by Nerviswr3k

The Blot was beyond excited to get the opportunity to review Nerviswr3k’s first production vinyl figure, the Inner Child! I’ve been a fan of his custom work for years, and from the photos I’d seen this figure looked handmade. Shocking as it may be, the figure surpassed even my high expectations! I seriously can’t get over how much this 4” figure looks like one of Nerviswr3k’s custom pieces.

Produced by SubUrban Vinyl, the Inner Child’s QC is pretty much perfect. The paint application is impeccable and the factory did a great job putting these figures together. I love the expression on the Inner Child’s face, and the teeth on his costume are actually sharp (but not that sharp)! With all of the texture on this sculpt, if I didn’t know any better I’d think this was a Japanese sofubi release. You just don’t see this level of detail in western figures these days.

Even though Inner Child is only 4” tall, it’s got some serious heft to it. As you can tell from these photos, it looks way bigger than your standard 3” Dunny even though it's just 1” taller. I’ve also posed it with Gary Ham’s Wooper Looper and Brandt Peters's Stingy Jack to give you a feel of how awesome Inner Child would look in your collection! I think these kind of photos help put new releases in perspective since so many of us now shop almost exclusively online and never get to see these awesome designer art toys in person before taking the plunge to spend our hard earned money on them. As you can see, this figure lives up to the hype!  So what are you waiting for already!?!

Nerviswr3k’s Inner Child comes packaged in a full color box, will be released in 3 killer colorways (limited to 125 pieces each), and will retail for just $45! When The Blot first saw pictures of this figure from Designer Con 2014 I was blown away. I couldn’t believe Inner Child was a product piece because of how much it looked like one of Nerviswr3k’s handmade custom figures. It’s truly amazing how they were able to recreate Nerviswr3k’s sculpt into a production piece. You just don’t see this type of detail every day.

NYCC 14 Exclusive Logray Edition GeekWok Star Wars Resin Figure by UME Toys

UME Toys will be traveling across the pond from Great Britain to NYC for New York Comic Con 2014, and he’s bringing with him a whole batch of amazing releases! Rich’s first NYCC 2014 Exclusive pays tribute to The Blot’s second favorite Ewok, head shaman Logray. The Logray Edition GeekWok features a character specific headdress, stands 3” tall, and comes hand painted. NYCC 14 Exclusive John Grayson x Nemo Street Spirit Resin Figure

SubUrban Vinyl has announced the second figure in their new Street Spirit Artist Series, which features Nemo’s killer resin figure customized by some of the biggest names in the world of designer art toys, and it will be released exclusively at New York Comic Con 2014! Customized by artist John Grayson, each New York Comic Con 2014 Exclusive Street Spirit stands 8.5” tall, and is a mixed media collage with spray paint and emulsion transfer applications.
