Star Trek Discovery Teaser Television Poster

The Blot’s actually pretty excited for CBS’ new live action Star Trek television show, Star Trek Discovery. The first teaser poster for the series is here, but it really doesn’t do much for me. Then again, no matter how good the TV show looks there’s really no chance I plunk down $10 a month for CBS All Access, the network’s new subscription service, just for one show. That’s a lot of money for such little content compared to Netflix, Amazon Prime or even HBO Go. It’ll hit Netflix eventually, right? Otherwise, the network needs to suck it up and give Star Trek Discovery a second run (maybe over the summer) on CBS proper.

Funko continues its popular line Batman 1966 Pop! Television Vinyl Figures with this wave of Surfs Up variant figures! Based on the classic 1967 episode “Surf’s Up! Joker’s Under!’ where The Joker challenges Batman to a surfing contest, the Batman ’66 “Surfs Up” Pop! Supergirl Teaser Television Poster

After viewing two teaser trailers and multiple still pictures of Melissa Benoist in her Supergirl costume I really, really want to like CBS’ upcoming live action DC Comics television show Supergirl. But I just can’t... No matter how hard I try, I can’t get over Benoist’s casting. Every time I look at her all I see is Glee’s Marley Rose, the show’s most annoying character ever (and that’s really saying something). I know Kara Zor-El is nothing like Marley, but I just can’t get that thought out of my head. The trailers were enjoyable to watch though. Then again this first teaser television poster is pretty terrible. Who OK’ed this!?! Someone needs to work on their photoshopping skills ASAP.

Supergirl will air on Monday nights this fall on CBS.

NYCC 13 Exclusive Batman ‘66 Blue Batmobile Pop! Vehicle by Funko

Sold exclusively by Toy Tokyo’s NYCC booth #101, the Batman ’66 Blue Batmobile was inspired by the blue Japanese tin Batmobile toy from 1972. This Pop vehicle pays the perfect homage to that by gone era of tin, and bridges the gap between classic toys made of tin and modern toys made of vinyl. Based on the Batmobile from the popular 1960’s Batman television show, this Pop! vehicle actually fits a single 3.75” Pop! vinyl figure.

SDCC 13 Exclusive Batman ’66 Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Huckleberry Toys will be releasing this epic officially licensed San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Batman ’66 screen print by Tom Whalen based on the classic TV series! The old school live action Batman series is back in a huge way, and this print does an amazing job recreating its campy cool. Not only does it include all of the show’s key villains, but it’s got Adam West’s Batman, Burt Ward’s Robin and their signature Batmobile front and center. The Blot seriously loves everything about this print! Here’s hoping a few APs show up in Whalen’s online store so those of us not at SDCC have a chance to score one!

The San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Batman ’66 by Tom Whalen is an 18”x24” 10 color hand numbered screen print. The Regular Blue Edition has a limited edition run size of 350 pieces and will retail for $60, while the Purple Variant is limited to 175 pieces and will retail for $75. The Batman 1966 Television Series toy line includes Adam West’s Batman, Cesar Romero’s The Joker, Burgess Meredith’s The Penguin, Julie Newmar’s Catwoman, and Frank Gorshin’s The Riddler. It even includes a “Surf’s Up” Batman, which features Batman in a yellow swimsuit and matching Bat-surfboard. All this toy line needs is Burt Ward’s Robin and Yvonne Craig’s Batgirl and it’d be seriously perfect!
