Robot Chicken Action Figure Series 1 by Jazwares

After the success of Jazwares’ San Diego Comic-Con 2010 Exclusive Convention Nerd action figure, the toy company is now releasing a full line of Robot Chicken toys based on the Cartoon Network’s stop-motion animated adult swim television show Robot Chicken! Robot Chicken Action Figure Series 1 includes the Humping Robot with washing machine, the Mad Scientist with Robot Chicken, and Candy Bear with bear trap.

Robot Chicken Action Figure Series 1 by Jazwares
Each action figures ranges in size from approximately 3 1/2 to 6 inches tall, and what’s really great about these Robot Chicken figures are their extra features! The Humping Robot actually humps his washing machine accessory (or really anything you want), and the Candy Bear’s bear trap actually screams when it closes. This could be a really great accessory for artists to customize, especially if you work with a figure whose feet will fit in the bear trap.

While Jazwares’ Robot Chicken Action Figure Series 1 will be sold individually, all three figures are currently available as a set for just $42.99 from Entertainment Earth.

Robot Chicken 10 Inch Action Figure by Jazwares
Jazwares is also releasing a 10" Robot Chicken action figure, which comes packaged in a window box for play or easy display. The 10 inch Robot Chicken figure retails for $20.99 and can be purchased from Entertainment Earth here.

All of the Robot Chicken action figures seen above are scheduled to be released sometime in October 2010.

Birdman 40° Custom Celsius Vinyl Figure by Chauskoskis

Birdman 40° Custom Celsius Vinyl Figure by Chauskoskis
On July 10th, the Toy Art Gallery in Los Angeles will be hosting, in conjunction with Kuso Vinyl, the Ganmetall Celsius Custom Show featuring custom Celsius vinyl figures from over 50 of the hottest artists in the industry. The Blot’s probably seen 2/3 of the custom Celsius figures made for the show and I have to say, every single one of them is amazing. This is by far one of the most impressive custom shows I’ve ever seen!

The Ganmetall Celsius Custom Show at the Toy Art Gallery
While I can’t spotlight every hand crafted Celsius debuting next week at the T.A.G., I would be remise if I didn’t point out Chauskoskis’ (a.k.a. Walter Jacott) entry, the Birdman 40° Celsius custom figure. The Blot’s a huge Hanna-Barbera fan and I love those old Birdman and the Galaxy Trio cartoons from the ‘60s, as well as [adult swim]’s send-up of the character in Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.

Birdman 40° Custom Celsius Vinyl Figure by Chauskoskis
Chauskoskis did an incredible job sculpting Birdman’s head and his trusted sidekick, the blue eagle Avenger. Walter even came up with a backstory for the character as to why he’s sick (hence the thermometer in his mouth and why the custom is entitled Birdman 40°). You can read the backstory to Chauskoskis’ custom Birdman 40° Celsius and more pictures of the figure here.

Shocker Toys - SDCC 09 Exclusive Dr. Rockzo Metalocalypse Mallow Vinyl Figure

The second 2009 San Diego Comic Con exclusive 5 inch Mallow from Shocker Toys should make all the [adult swim] fans out there very happy! From the animated television series Metalocalypse comes a Mallow of everyone’s favorite rock ‘n roll clown, Dr. Rockzo.

Shocker Toys - San Diego Comic Con 2009 Exclusive Dr. Rockzo Metalocalypse Mallow Vinyl Figure
While The Blot would prefer a full set of Dethklok Mallow figures, Dr. Rockzo is probably the next best thing. I love how spot on the figure’s look is to the animated character, and they did a great job getting Rockzo's colors just right.

Shocker Toys - San Diego Comic Con 2009 Exclusive Dr. Rockso Mallow Vinyl Figure
The SDCC 09 exclusive Dr. Rockzo Mallow is limited to just 500 pieces and can be purchased either at Comic Con or pre-ordered (by both SDCC attendees and non-attendees) now at the Shocker Toys online store. The Dr. Rockzo Mallow is $30 if you are planning on picking it up in San Diego or $36 if it needs to be shipped to anyone not attending the convention.

G.I. Joe: Resolute

The Blot was so pumped when I first heard about a new G.I. Joe animated series scripted by comic book legend Warren Ellis set to air on the Cartoon Network’s [adult swim]. While many G.I. Joe stories in the comic books were “adult themed,” this would mark the first time the franchise would be featured in “mature themed” animated series. Plus, airing on [adult swim] gave G.I. Joe: Resolute instant credibility. Credibility that all but went away once I actually watched Parts 1 & 2 of the animated series on Saturday.

G.I. Joe: Resolute logo
Ellis was going for a PG-13 version of G.I. Joe, but all we got was pure bleh! While I thought the updated character profiles and animation was nicely done, the dialogue was mind numbing bad, the voice actors seemed to mail it in, and the storyline was truly painful to sit through. As much as I want to give Ellis the benefit of the doubt and continue watching parts 5-11, I just don’t know if I can do it. The only aspect of G.I. Joe: Resolute I actually liked was the realistic take on the battle between G.I. Joe and Cobra.

G.I. Joe: Resolute banner
Unlike in other series, Hasbro is actually letting characters be killed in the line of duty. Yes it happened occasionally in the comics, but Hasbro has since put a stop to that when it realized it’s harder to sell products of deceased heroes and villains. Knowing a character can actually die in Resolute gives greater weight to the story and makes the outcome of every battle between G.I. Joe and Cobra much more significant. I haven’t read any reviews of G.I. Joe: Resolute yet, so I’d love to hear from all of you. Have you watched it yet? And if so, what’d you think?

G.I. Joe: Resolute will first be released online at AdultSwim.com as “ten 5 minute episodes and one 10 minute final episode,” before all of the episodes are combined to form one hour long movie scheduled to air on [adult swim] April 25, 2009 at midnight. (link) Two new episodes are set to debut every day, with the first four parts of G.I. Joe: Resolute already available online here. But don’t say The Blot didn’t warn you!

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II Airs This Sunday

I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that on Sunday night, November 16, at 10:30/9:30c Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim will be airing Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II.

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II logo
The sequel to last year’s smash hit Robot Chicken: Star Wars is sure to be hilarious as Seth Green, Matt Senreich and the rest of the Robot Chicken crew again focus their sick and twisted sense of humor squarely on the Star Wars universe.

Robot Chicken Star Wars Episode II - Lando Calrissian and Boba FettThere are three teaser clips for Sunday’s episode floating around on YouTube right now, but The Blot refuses to watch or post them here because I really want everything about Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II to be a surprise. I’m really stoked (is that still a word?) Robot Chicken decided to do this again and can’t wait to see what George Lucas lets them get away with this time!

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II airs Sunday, November 16th at 10:30/9:30c on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.

Adult Swim - The African Swim Mixtape

The Blot loves free music that you can download legally, so this latest release from the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim is right up my alley. This is the third or fourth free mixtape released by Adult Swim and they have all been fantastic. Pretty soon the Adult Swim brand will be as synonymous with hip-hop as it is with quirky, offbeat animated series.

Adult Swim - African Swim Mixtape Album Cover
The latest free album is African Swim, a 16 track mixtape that features some of South Africa’s best hip-hop artists. You can go here to download the entire album and see some exclusive videos, or right click the link below. If this is even half as good as the Adult Swim Danger Doom Occult Hymn mixtape or the Chocolate Swim mixtape then you will really enjoy African Swim!

Kidrobot x The Simpsons Collectible Vinyl Mini Figure Series

The Blot’s heading out of town today but I wanted to direct everyone’s attention to a new product Kidrobot is releasing today, a line of 3 inch collectible The Simpsons mini figures. The figures have bodies similar to Kidrobot’s Dunny series but look like your favorite citizens of Springfield. There are 24 figures in all, including 3 secret chase figures.

Kidrobot x The Simpsons Vinyl Mini Figure Set
Kidrobot x The Simpsons Designer Vinyl Mini Figure SetThe Simpsons vinyl mini figures come as a blind assortment, meaning you won’t know which figure you’re buying until you open it and have a retail price of $7.95 each. If you head to the Kidrobot online store you can purchase a case of The Simpsons figures for a special reduced price. That’s 24 figures for $181.00. Interestingly enough, due to licensing restrictions Kidrobot can only ship these figures to certain locations. To see if your country made the list of allowable countries click here.

Kidrobot x The Simpsons Collectible Figures Go On Sale Today, Thursday, August 20th
Kidrobot x The Simpsons Designer Vinyl Mini Figures Check ListThere’s been a lot of discussion on the internet as to whether Kidrobot’s production of a line of The Simpsons figures (along with their line of Cartoon Network [adult swim] mini figures) signals the company’s “selling out.” I don’t really have an opinion on this one way or the other. There are some great things that can happen when a company like Kidrobot starts partnering with larger brands like The Simpsons and the Cartoon Network, then again there are also some drawbacks. This is especially true if Kidrobot ultimately decides to leave what has built them into such a successful company and becomes more corporate.

If you’re interested in finding out more about this topic I suggest you head over to Kidrobot founder and president Paul Budnitz’ blog and read his response to this very topic. You can find the post addressing this issue in its entirety here.

Seth Green and Breckin Meyer Are Close To Joining The Cast Of Heroes

Heroes LogoThere is some really exciting Heroes casting news floating around the web today. EW.com’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that real life best friends “and frequent collaborators Seth Green and Breckin Meyer are nearing a deal to join the cast of Heroes for multi-episode arcs.” (link) How cool is that?

Breckin Meyer and Seth Green Are Set To Join The Cast Of NBC's HeroesAccording to Ausiello’s sources Green and Meyer “will play Atlanta-based comic book nerds aficionados who cross paths with (and perhaps serve as advisors to) one of the Heroes.” (link) It sounds like some stellar stunt casting and I’m excited to see what these two can bring to NBC’s hit super hero drama. While I love Heroes, the show often lacks in the acting department. Hopefully Green and Meyer will be able to breathe some life into whichever established Heroes’ characters they are working with.

Best Friends Breckin Meyer and Seth Green
Robot Chicken Season 1 DVD Box Set CoverOne reason I really like these two actors is that I’m obsessed with their most recent collaboration, Robot Chicken. The stop motion animated show created by Green and Matthew Senreich is amazing, and while the two friends starred in some classic 90’s movies this is by far their best work. Aly can’t stand the show, but I still stop to watch it any time it’s on the Cartoon Network. Green and Meyer voice many of the show’s characters and it is some of the best pop culture humor out there.

Kidrobot x [adult swim] Chase Figures

The line of Kidrobot x [adult swim] vinyl mini figures came out last Thursday and since then pictures of the line’s chase figures have been circling the web. I had a lot of high hopes as to who the mystery figures might be, and boy was I way off base.

Kidrobot x [adult swim] Vinyl Mini Figure Series
Turns out the two chase figures are of Aqua Teen Hunger Force’s Chicken Bittle, a character introduced in the ATHF movie, and Crackhead Morel Orel. I definitely didn’t see either of these two coming. The Morel Orel figure is pretty funny, but all in all I think the line is pretty disappointing in both choice of characters and the overall quality of the figures.

Robot Chicken Star Wars Special Coming To DVD This Summer

Robot Chicken - Star Wars Special
Finally there’s definite confirmation as to the release date for Robot Chicken’s Star Wars Special DVD. TV Shows on DVD.com is reporting that the Robot Chicken – Star Wars DVD will be released July 22nd. (link)

Robot Chicken - Star Wars Special DVD
The Blot’s been waiting for this one for a while and its going to look great next to my copy of Family Guy’s Star Wars tribute Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest. I love all things [adult swim] and Robot Chicken, and thought the Robot Chicken tribute episode was even funnier than Family Guy's version. So, if you like Star Wars or Robot Chicken then you’ll love them together in this extended, 30 minute episode of The Blot’s favorite [adult swim] show.

Kidrobot x [adult swim] Mini Figure Series

Designer toy manufacturer Kidrobot has struck a deal with the Cartoon Network’s [adult swim] to produce a new line of blind box vinyl mini figures. (link) The figures are being released on April 17th and will include “18 characters in all, including two secret chases.” (link) Kidrobot makes some of the best designer vinyl figures in the industry, and I’m sure these toys will be as great in person as they are in pictures.

Kidrobot x [adult swim] Vinyl Mini Figure Series
The Kidrobot x [adult swim] vinyl mini figure set will retail for $7.95 each and include characters from all of Adult Swim’s stable of shows including Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, The Venture Bros., Metalocalypse, Frisky Dingo and The Blot’s favorite Adult Swim show Robot Chicken. Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest Bobble Heads

As a Star Wars fan, I’m always pumped when I hear about a popular show putting together a Star Wars tribute episode. Robot Chicken on Adult Swim/Cartoon Network did one and it was pretty funny. But then Family Guy did one and it was even better. The FOX show’s Star Wars tribute, Blue Harvest, recently came out on DVD and is a must see for any Family Guy or Star Wars fan.

Family Guy presents Blue Harvest
What’s even better is Family Guy is now coming out with a line of Blue Harvest Wacky Wobbler bobble heads. (link) I’ve never been the biggest bobble head fan but I do love seeing how these types of toys turn out. A lot of times the toys aren’t an accurate representation of the 2D characters we love on TV, but these Wacky Wobblers turned out way better than expected. But don’t take my word for it, take a look at the pictures below.
