The Warriors Screen Print by Rhys Cooper x Bottleneck Gallery

The Warriors Screen Print by Rhys Cooper x Bottleneck Gallery

Today, Bottleneck Gallery is taking us back to Coney Island with this awesome The Warriors screen print by artist Rhys Cooper! As BNG explained, “The individual gangs in The Warriors are one of our favorite aspects of the film – fun, campy, fleshed out gangs with excellent themes and great costumes. Using the iconic Warriors’ vests, Rhys’ print puts each gang as a patch on Swan’s back. Beyond the cool imagery, there’s nice thematic relevance with so many of the film’s gangs literally being on the Warriors’ backs.”

X-Men “Femme Fatale” Marvel Screen Prints by Rhys Cooper

X-Men “Femme Fatale” Marvel Screen Prints by Rhys Cooper - Standard & Variant Rogue “Anna Marie” Screen Print

Australian based screenprint artist Rhys Cooper’s solo art show “Femme Fatale” debuted last weekend at the Spoke Art Gallery, and it looks seriously fantastic! Rhys embarked on a portrait series of influential women from the world of popular culture, from childhood stories to comic books. While it was nearly impossible for The Blot to choose my favorite posters from Cooper’s show, I had to highlight these awesome X-Men “Femme Fatale” Marvel screen prints featuring Rogue and her evil adopted mother Mystique! Aren’t these images stunning!?!

X-Men “Femme Fatale” Marvel Screen Prints by Rhys Cooper - Standard & Variant Mystique “Raven” Screen Print

Packed with immense detail and vibrant punchy colors, Rhys Cooper’s Femme Fatale series of screen prints are mostly confined to Rhys’s signature narrow format, which transforms these portraits into war-like banners (especially considering their aggressive aesthetic).

The Rogue screen print “Anna Marie” and the Mystique screen print “Raven” each measure 12”x36”, have limited edition run sizes of 125 pieces and retail for $40 each. Both designs also have rarer variants, which have limited edition run sizes of 60 pieces and retail for $60 each. You can purchase all four prints seen here (and see the Rhys Cooper’s entire “Femme Fatale” show) now at the Spoke Art online store.

Cobra Commander & Storm Shadow G.I. Joe Screen Prints by Rhys Cooper

Acidfree Gallery x Hasbro G.I. Joe Screen Print Series - Cobra Standard Edition Triptic by Rhys Cooper: The Baroness, Cobra Commander & Storm Shadow

Later today Acidfree Gallery will be releasing the final two pieces in Rhys Cooper’s epic Cobra triptic. Designed as part of Acidfree Gallery’s Hasbro Screen Print Series, “Cobra Commander” and “Storm Shadow” combine with Rhys’ previously released “Baroness” screen print to form a gigantic G.I. Joe image featuring three of the most ruthless villains in the G.I. Joe universe. I especially love the black and red Cobra emblem in the background. This series will look sick next to Grzegorz Domaradzki's G.I. Joe triptic. The Blot can’t wait to see what’s coming up next in this exciting screen print series.

The Baroness G.I. Joe Screen Print by Rhys Cooper

The Baroness Standard Edition G.I. Joe Screen Print by Rhys Cooper

The newest release in Acidfree Gallery’s awesome Hasbro Screen Print Series is this beautiful G.I. Joe print featuring COBRA’s The Baroness by Rhys Cooper! But that’s not all…“The Baroness” is the first in a tryptic of three COBRA characters from Rhys, and was designed to work in conjunction with Grzegorz Domaradzki’s G.I. Joe tryptic print set. Rhys Cooper killed with this print and The Blot can’t wait to see what other characters will be in the series (Cobra Commander and Destro anyone!?!).

“Devil’s Night” The Crow Screen Print by Rhys Cooper

“Devil’s Night” The Crow Screen Print by Rhys Cooper

Last night Nakatomi secretly dropped the third print in its The Crow Screen Print Series. Inspired by James O’barr’s legendary indie comic book series (and 1994 film), “Devil’s Night” by Rhys Cooper is freaking awesome! Just look at all that detail and crazy bloody crow on Eric Draven’s chest. Nakatomi has decided to give this massive 12”x36” 5-color The Crow print with a secret glow layer a timed release with a maximum numbered edition of 200 pieces (including artists copies).

This means the print will be available for purchase from now until midnight on November 1st, or until 200 prints have been sold in total. With Rhys’ popularity continuing to rise, The Blot definitely doesn’t expect this print to last through November 1st, so act fast! Pick one up today at the Nakatomi online store for $40 each.

Breaking Bad Screen Print #6 - Jesse Pinkman by Rhys Cooper

Breaking Gifs Limited Edition Breaking Bad Screen Prints - Jesse Pinkman by Rhys Cooper

Jesse Pinkman” by Rhys Cooper is the sixth screen print in the Breaking Bad Alternate Reality Game Series released in honor of the hit AMC television show Breaking Bad’s fifth and final season. Rhys Cooper’s artwork always kills, and this is definitely The Blot’s favorite print of the series so far. I love all of the characters Rhys included in the shattered glass background showing all of the lives Jesse’s murder of Gale at the end of Season 3 affected.

Rhys Cooper’s limited edition Breaking Bad screen print “Jesse Pinkman” measures 12”x36”, has a run size of 300 pieces (only 200 available for purchase) and comes hand signed and numbered by the artist. The print will retail for $50 each and can be purchased here.

To celebrate and honor the fifth and final season of Breaking Bad, 16 of the top artists and graphic designers have been commissioned to create screenprints depicting some of the series' most memorable scenes, characters and shocking moments for Gallery1988 and its Breaking Bad ARG, Breaking Gifs. These screenprints are hand-pulled, each its own individual work of art, in an edition of just 300, with only 200 available to the public through this project. The Avengers Screen Print Series by Rhys Cooper

The Avengers Screen Print Series by Rhys Cooper - Iron Man, Captain America, Thor & Black Widow

Rhys Cooper created this amazing The Avengers four print series as part of last weekend’s “Assemble” group art show at Gallery 1988. My jaw seriously hit the ground when I first saw these posters of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the Black Widow last week. These banner sized prints turned out great (I love the SHIELD logo backgrounds); I just wish he had created a print for each member of the team. Where are my Hawkeye and Hulk screen prints!?! I guess four out of six ain’t bad…

Sold individually, all four hand numbered The Avengers screen prints by Rhys Cooper were available for purchase at the Gallery 1988 online store for $40 each (Captain America and Iron Man have since sold out). Each print measures 18”x24” and has a limited edition run size of 175 pieces. However, only 125 of each print were sold at G1988. I assume this means Rhys will eventually be selling the remaining prints as full 4 print sets on his online store.

The Blot is so excited for tonight’s opening of Gallery 1988’s group art show “Assemble,” featuring artwork based on Marvel’s The Avengers! The show includes paintings and prints based on the movie version of “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” from artists like Dave Perillo, Scott C, N.C. Winters, Rhys Cooper, Kiersten Essenpreis, Luke Chueh and many others. Photos of pieces from the show have already leaked onto the internet and from what I’ve seen so far everything look amazing! Although I’m still searching for a shot of Luke Chueh’s Avengers painting. The Blot is dying to see what he came up with for this show.

“Of Fur and Felt” Muppet Screen Print Set by Rhys Cooper

Nakatomi has just released for pre-sale a crazy three print set entitled “Of Fur and Felt” by Rhys Cooper. Each print features a different Muppet from Sesame Street and The Muppets (Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster and Animal) as if they really exited in the wild. Not only did Cooper come up with some awesome reinterpretations of my favorite Jim Henson creations, but I really love all the little details like the text at the bottom of each print and the inclusion of Oscar’s pet worm Slimey. Rhys even came up with an intricate back story for these prints which you can read below.

“The Study of Species in the Field of those Rare, Wonderful, Fur & Felt.
by Prof. J. Maury. 1859″

Professor J. Maury was a rare breed of man- a rugged explorer, a learned biologist, and most importantly- an exacting artist. His field studies of the varied fauna that he discovered on his journeys delighted and amazed readers of the scientific journals of the time, and provided fodder for the “Penny Dreadfuls” and children’s books. Professor Maury rose to almost super-star acclaim, though, after his discovery of the Sesame Islands and the completely unique creatures that populated them. These brand new plants and animals appeared to develop completely on their own evolutionary course, isolated from any of the seven continents. In retrospect, one must consider the veracity of some of Maury’s claims- that of a “shaggy, earless, tuskless, mammoth’” that was invisible until believed in, and singing fruits and vegetables that wanted to teach him about local hygiene customs. The scientific establishment would have easily laughed these new discoveries off, if it weren’t for the Professor’s previously unshakable reputation and the curiously colored pelts that he produced upon arriving back from his travels. He returned with pelts of shaggy green, the most unnatural blue, and even an impossibly two-headed purple pelt.

Of Fur and Felt Muppet Screen Print Set by Rhys Cooper - Original Field-Sketched Drawings Mini Print Set

The real tragedy of Professor Maury’s story, however, is that the location of the islands was a closely guarded secret, and all records of the exact directions were lost. Many an evolutionary scholar begged him to reveal the coordinates, and even his contemporary, Charles Darwin was overheard visiting Prof. Maury on his deathbed, whispering into his ear: “Can you tell me how to get…how to get to the Sesame Islands?”

The lasting legacy of Professor Maury is his amazing field studies of the wildlife he found there, and Rhys Cooper has adapted these drawings in a series of silkscreened prints for Nakatomi available now for pre-order!

Mondo Star Wars Screen Print Series #8 - Salacious B. Crumb by Rhys Cooper

Crumb, the Kowakian monkey-lizard employed by Jabba the Hutt as a quasi-court jester. The “Salacious B. Crumb” print by Rhys Cooper spotlights one of The Blot’s favorite scenes from Return of the Jedi, where Crumb is seen tearing out C-3PO’s eye as Jabba’s empire crumbles to the ground.

Mondo Star Wars Screen Print Series #8 - Salacious B. Crumb by Rhys Cooper

According to Cooper, "I always thought Salacious Crumb is the kind of character that makes Star Wars great. Little personalities like his are what give the galaxy far far away its depth and diversity."
