This weekend Ritzy Periwinkle is in a group art show entitled "Purple" at the Causey Contemporary Gallery in Brooklyn NYC. The show features 12 female artists, including Lady Pink, Miss Van, and Queen Andrea, who will each “explore Purple as a color, word and psychological context in a freestyle exhibition where medium, formal strategies and process intersect to create original content.” Sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it!?!
Ritzy decided to do a 3D pieces for the show, and created an updated, purple themed version of her popular Santa Muerte character, which originally debuted at Art Basel 2011. Entitled "And you will know me by the trail of dead: 2.0", this version of Santa Muerte has a darker color scheme and is triple the size of the original (it’s over 2 feet tall!!!). I would love to see this bad boy in person, because from the picture alone it looks pretty sick.
Purple will be on view at Causey Contemporary Gallery in Brooklyn from October 19th - November 18th, with an opening reception from 6-9pm this Friday (Oct 19th). Those of you interested in purchasing "And you will know me by the trail of dead: 2.0" Santa Muerte or any of the other pieces from the show can visit the Causey Contemporary online store or call the gallery directly.
