Men in Black III Teaser Movie Posters

Men in Black III Teaser Character One Sheet Movie Posters - Will Smith as Agent J

Is it me, or does Men in Black III have disaster written all over it? Legit sequels released ten years after the last installment are never good and rarely successful. Plus, while Will Smith is still one of the last remaining movie stars with real summer blockbuster potential, he hasn’t released a hyped summer film in years. Sadly our society is “what have you done for me lately,” and lately Hollywood’s been all about Jaden Smith not Will Smith. With that being said, these MiB3 teaser character one sheet movie posters are pretty cool looking (even if there’s not much to them). The only negative I can say is neither image really looks like the actor it is intended to be.

Men in Black III Teaser Character One Sheet Movie Posters - Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K

Here come the Men in Black…they won't let you remember. Men in Black III, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, is scheduled for a May 25th, 2012 release.

Toy Review: Kickstarter Edition Treature Erectus Resin Figure by Motorbot

Kickstarter Edition Treature Erectus Resin Figure by Motorot

While The Blot was in Dallas for Thanksgiving I got a very exciting package from Motorbot full of some crazy looking, never before seen resin figures! The toys inside were my reward for helping fund Motorbot’s Kickstarter project earlier this year and they were well worth the wait. The highlight of my Kickstarter set is one of Motorbot’s newest creations, the 7” Treature Erectus. I’ve blogged about the Treature Erectus a few times, but I thought a proper review was in store after finally seeing one in person.

Like most of you, The Blot has a hard time gauging just how big or small a figure is. For instance, a 20” Dunny is a much larger figure than the 20” Doze Green Kidrobot Black figure. So I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find out the Treature is a massive7-8 inches tall. As you can see from the photo below, it’s almost as tall as an 8” Dunny and equally as wide. The detailing of the Treature Erectus is also impressive.

Kickstarter Edition Treature Erectus Resin Figure by Motorot with a 6 Inch Mummy Boy by Super7 & an 8 Inch Dunny by Kidrobot

It features Motorbot’s trademark monster teeth and doll eyes, and has incredibly wrinkled skin that resembles the skin of an elephant. Be sure to check out the figure’s back, which really highlight’s Motorbot sculpting skills. But by far the most impressive aspect of the Treature Erectus is its arm joints. This rotocast figure has two points of articulation and some of the smoothest movement I’ve seen in a handmade resin toy. Motorbot’s skills have definitely come a long way since his last resin figure with arm articulation (2010’s The Outsider).

But I haven’t even mentioned the best part of the Treature Erectus, this 7-8 inch handmade, hand painted rotocast figure can be yours for just $60! Now that’s a price that can’t be beat. Pick one up from the Deadbear Studios online store today or contact Motorbot about commissioning a one of a kind Treature Erectus.

Night of the Living Dead Screen Print by Grzegorz Domaradzki

George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead Standard Edition Screen Print by Grzegorz Domaradzki

Every once in a while The Blot writes a blog post that gets lost in the queue and never gets published. It’s almost always 100% my fault, and sadly this awesome screen print had to pay the price. But better late than never!!! Check out this awesome movie poster by Grzegorz Domaradzki for George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. Grzegorz took six months to meticulously craft this striking image and it definitely shows. I especially love the composition of the poster, which uses all of the film’s cast to create a skull.

George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead Silver Glow in the Dark Variant Screen Print by Grzegorz Domaradzki

Night of the Living Dead by Grzegorz Domaradzki is a 24”x36” hand numbered, four color screen print with metallic inks. The Standard Edition has a limited edition run size of 250 prints and retailed for $40 while the Silver Glow in the Dark Variant has a limited edition run size of 100 pieces and retailed for $50. The Silver GID Variant is now sold out, and due to a printer error only approximately 70 mint copies of this colorway exist and are also all sold out.

However, a selected batch of the remaining slightly creased prints will be sold by Kryptonite Prints and Apparel at a discounted price of $30 each. Each print contains a minor crease of some sort measuring anywhere from 1-3 inches; some which can be drymounted or framed out, some which cannot. Pick one up at the Kryptonite online store, and use the promo code “THEBLOT” for 15% off your order!

Rainbow Custom Mummy Boy by D-LuX

Super7 - Rainbow Custom Mummy Boy Vinyl Figure by D-LuX

As you all know, Super7 is currently holding a “Design Your Own Mummy Boy” custom contest where the winner gets their design turned into a production figure. Honestly, after seeing this figure the contest should be canceled, because this custom Rainbow Mummy Boy absolutely kills!!! Now The Blot hasn’t seen anyone else’s design yet and sadly D-LuX won’t be submitting this to the contest, but how sick are the colors and fades on this Mummy Boy!?! D used seven colors in all (metallic red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue and purple), topped off with gobs of color change flake and high gloss paint all on metallic silver vinyl.

I really wish Black Friday hadn’t just come and gone, because otherwise I totally would have scooped up this sick one of a kind custom figure. Lucky for the rest of you, this seven color Rainbow Mummy Boy is still available for purchase from the D-LuX online store for $100. Someone needs to buy this immediately to save me from temptation.

Peanuts “A Charlie Brown Christmas” Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Peanuts “A Charlie Brown Christmas” Standard Edition Screen Print by Tom Whalen

The Blot was super excited to find out Dark Hall Mansion would be releasing a companion piece to the previously released screen print “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” by Tom Whalen. “A Charlie Brown Christmas” reteams Whalen and Dark Hall Mansion to create a beautiful 10 color screen print featuring the entire Peanuts gang. I found it interesting to learn this 1965 masterpiece is Whalen’s favorite Peanuts special, because “it invokes a quiet tone and humble demeanor that captures the true spirit of Christmas so perfectly.”

Peanuts “A Charlie Brown Christmas” Variant Edition Screen Print by Tom Whalen

A Charlie Brown Christmas by Tom Whalen is an 18”x24” signed and numbered screenprint . The Standard Edition has a limited edition run size of 450 pieces, the Purple Variant has an edition size of 100 pieces and the Silver Bells Edition (printed on metal) has a limited edition run size of 50 pieces! Black Friday Blue SSSSwirl Pumpkin Boy by Super7

Black Friday Blue SSSSwirl Pumpkin Boy by Super7

Every once in a while I hear about a figure and I just drool. This is what happened yesterday when I found out Super7 had released a special Black Friday Pumpkin Boy just for its SSSS (Super Seven Secret Society) members. It’s times like these when I wish I had rejoined! This beautiful dark and light blue marbled unpainted Pumpkin Boy looks incredible doesn’t it?

My sources say the Black Friday Blue SSSSwirl Pumpkin Boy went on sale Friday, November 25th, at the Super7 online store and sold out quickly thereafter. While we never had a sh\ot at this SSSS exclusive, hopefully this means more Pumpkin Boys are on the way!

Ron English x The Hundreds T-Shirt Collection

Ron English x The Hundreds T-Shirt Collection - “Smiley”

Last week The Hundreds released its newest collaboration, this time with the king of POPaganda, Ron English! With a career spanning three decades, Ron English, the world’s most famous pop artist, uses a photo-realist technique to create political, consumerist, and surrealist statements. The Hundreds by Ron English capsule collection features three t-shirt designs, each based on an original painting by Ron: “Smiley”, “Rabbit” and “Cowgirl”.

Ron English x The Hundreds T-Shirt Collection - “Rabbit”

First up is the “Smiley” t-shirt, which features The Hundreds’ mascot Adam Bomb reinterpreted by Ron English in his trademark “Grin” style. This Adam Bomb is definitely all teeth! “Rabbit” features Ron English’s trademark creation, the 3 Eyed Rabbit, standing in front of a repeating blue and white bar logo. Last but not least is “Cowgirl”, another English staple, which features a woman with a cow's head, with a repeating pink The Hundreds bar logo in the background.

Ron English x The Hundreds T-Shirt Collection - “Cowgirl”

The Blot loves these types of collabs because it combines my love of pop culture, designer toys and clothing all into three awesome t-shirts!  Each Ron English x The Hundreds t-shirt comes in three colors, sizes S-XXL and retails for $36 each. Pick one up now from The Hundreds online store (while supplies last).

DC Comics x Mondo Screen Print Series - The Fortress of Solitude

Mondo x DC Comics Screen Print Series - The Fortress of Solitude Screen Print by JC Richard

Yesterday Mondo dropped a HUGE bombshell…it will be teaming with DC Comics on a new line of screen prints! Mondo kicks off this new series on Black Friday with Superman’s “Fortress of Solitude” by JC Richard. This panoramic print has a limited edition run size of 390 pieces and will retail for $50 each. Pick one up at a random time this Friday, November 25th, at the Mondo online store.

Mondo Creative Director Justin Ishmael explained to CBR in an interview published on Wednesday that he has plans to release more panoramic screen prints of locations in the DC Universe, including Star City, Metropolis, Gotham, the Batcave and OA. In the article Ishmael also stated he hopes to do straight poster posters as well, “kind of what we're doing with movies -- a poster, with titles and credit blocks. We're going to try to do that. If we do a Watchmen poster, it'll be something like that. It'll kind of resemble a movie poster. We're not sure if we can do this, but the idea is to do a credit block using the creators [in the credits].”

From the article (which you can read here), it sounds like Justin’s already got plans for Fourth World, Metal Men and Vertigo posters, as well as “event” type prints for crossovers like Crisis on Infinite Earths. I don’t know about you, but this sounds pretty amazing! And with Justin’s limitless creativity leading the way, The Blot’s pretty sure we’re going to see some crazy DC Comics inspired artwork coming our way very, very soon!

Adventure Time Screen Print by Mike Mitchell

Mondo x Cartoon Network Adventure Time Standard Edition Screen Print by Mike Mitchell

The Blot has to tell you something that’s maybe a little embarrassing for a pop culture connoisseur such as myself…I have no idea what Adventure Time is! Ok, that’s not entirely true. I know it’s a cartoon featuring a kid with a white hat and a dog, but that’s really about it. Oh yeah, it’s also evidently extremely popular! Even the guys at Mondo love it, and describe it as “smart, funny and ultra creative.” That’s the reason Mondo has teamed with the Cartoon Network to produce an all new series of Adventure Time screen prints!

Mondo x Cartoon Network Adventure Time Blue Variant Screen Print by Mike Mitchell

The Mondo x Cartoon Network Adventure Time Screen Print Series kicks off this blackest of Fridays, with its first poster by Mike Mitchell. This is an 18”x36” hand numbered screen print, has a limited edition run size of 220 pieces and will retail for $40 each. There is also a Blue Variant Adventure Time screen print that has a limited edition run size of 90 pieces and will retail for $65. Pumpkin Gread & Pumpkin Funguhs Resin Figures by Lysol

Pumpkin Gread & Pumpkin Funguhs Resin Figures by Lysol

Thanksgiving is almost upon us, which leads us into the busiest shopping weekend of the year! The Blot’s a sucker for Good Friday (my own personal nickname for Black Friday) deals, but this Saturday’s also great for picking up new releases from some of my favorite artists. Take Lysol of Dead Hand Toys for instance. Late last night he dropped word on his Twitter feed that he’d be releasing not one, but two Thanksgiving themed resin figures on Saturday. The Pumpkin Gread and Pumpkin Funguhs go on sale at the Dead Hand Toys online store Saturday, November 23rd, at 12pm EST. While prices and run size are currently unknown, you can rest assured these little monsters are sure to sell out quickly!

The Muppets Retro Concert Poster Screen Prints by Michael De Pippo

The Muppets Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem Retro Concert Poster Screen Print Series by Michael De Pippo - “Dr. Teeth: Keyboard”

A few months ago artist Michael De Pippo designed some killer retro concert posters for the greatest Muppet band of all time, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem! For his tribute to the new Muppets movie, De Pippo wanted to keep things simple, “create a vintage concert poster for each band member (Dr. Teeth, Janice, Sgt. Floyd Pepper, Zoot and Animal). Using clean, crisp vectors, negative space and few colours, I wanted to keep them as simple and stylized as possible; reminiscent of retro posters from back in the day.”

The Muppets Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem Retro Concert Poster Screen Print Series by Michael De Pippo - “Animal: Drums”

The Muppets Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem Retro Concert Poster Screen Print Series by Michael De Pippo - “Janice: Guitar”

There was such a huge outcry of love for Michael’s artwork that he’s now teamed up with Acme Archives to release a series of officially licensed The Muppets Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem Retro Concert Poster Screen Prints! Five prints have been created for this series, each spotlighting a different member of the band (“Dr. Teeth: Keyboard”, “Animal: Drums”, “Floyd: Bass”, “Janice: Guitar” and “Zoot: Sax”).

I can’t believe this day is finally here, the world premier of The Muppets! The Blot probably won’t be seeing it until the weekend, but I’m really excited to hear what everyone else thinks. The Sucklord Wood Figure by Gary Ham

The SUCKset - Custom 7 Inch The Sucklord Wood Figure and Accessories

The Blot had the biggest fan boy moment when I stumbled upon Gary Ham’s amazing The Sucklord custom wood figure on eBay (seen here). Gary was motivated to create this “tribute to all things Suckadelic” by The Sucklord’s dismissal from Work of Art last week. The SUCKset, as Gary dubbed it, is a 100% handmade and hand painted wood toy of The Sucklord and includes everything seen here. What’s even cooler is all of the accessories are also handmade of wood.

The SUCKset - Custom 7 Inch The Sucklord Wood Figure and Accessories

The Sucklord Wood Figure stands 7" tall with 5 points of articulation, includes two interchangeable heads, and tons of Suckadelic accessories. With this set you get 1 Morgan Phillips head; 1 Sucklord head; 1 light saber; 1 beat box; 1 roll of Ass Wipe; 1 carrot; 1 photo of Sucklord’s girlfriend; 1 Work of Art NY Times challenge replica; 1 jar of urine; 1 Village Voice with Sucklord on the cover; 2 Suckpax; 1 bong; 1 bootleg Gay Stormtrooper; and 1 cape. Does this figure have it all or what!?!

Two SUCKsets were created, but only one is being sold to the public via an eBay auction that started yesterday and will be running for one full week. As Gary explained, “in true Sucklordian fashion, this piece is available to whomever wants it the most.” The SUCKset auction started at an incredibly modest $50 starting price, however in only a matter of hours it has quickly rose to over $500. Where this amazing figure ends is anyone’s guess. Good luck bidding!

You can also check out a great interview Gary did with Jeremy Brautman about the figure here.

The Muppets Character Movie Poster Set

The Muppets Character Movie Poster Set - Kermit the Frog & Miss Piggy “There Will Be Romance”

Tomorrow marks the world premier of The Muppets, and The Blot can’t wait! It’s a travesty what Disney has allowed to happen to this once proud franchise, and I really hope this film puts Kermit and Co. back on top where they belong. It’s insane to me that there hasn’t been a live action Muppets movie in 12 years. What was the House of Mouse thinking!?! Thankfully, from the reviews I’ve read it sounds like Jason Segel, James Bobina, Nicholas Stoller and Bret McKenzie knew what they were doing.

The Muppets Character Movie Poster Set – Animal & Gonzo “There Will Be Excitement”

There’s not too much to these The Muppets one sheet character movie posters, but I love them! They each feature two important characters, include a strong catch phrase and have great coloring. And so, without further adieu: It's time to play the music, It's time to light the lights, It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight. It's time to put on makeup, It's time to dress up right, It's time to raise the curtain on the Muppet Show tonight.

The Muppets Character Movie Poster Set - Fozzie Bear & the Swedish Chef “There Will Be Comedy”

The Muppets Character Movie Poster Set - Waldorf & Statler “There Will Be Attitude”

And now let's get things started. Why don't you get things started? It's time to get things started. On the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational. This is what we call the Muppet Show! The Muppets premieres tomorrow, Wednesday, November 23rd, in theaters everywhere.

The Muppets Twilight Themed Character Movie Posters

The Muppets Twilight Themed One Sheet Character Movie Posters - “The Muppet Saga” Kermit the Frog as Vamphibian (Edward)

I’m not sure why, but the main thrust of The Muppets marketing campaign has been spoofing other movie franchises. Don’t get me wrong, it’s all been very entertaining. I just don’t know why they continued to do it the whole time. That being said, these Twilight spoofing one sheet character movie posters are pretty funny, especially Rowlf as a Jacob.

The Muppets Twilight Themed One Sheet Character Movie Posters - “The Muppet Saga” Miss Piggy as Bella Swine (Bella Swan)

The Muppets Twilight Themed Character Movie Poster Set “The Muppet Saga” includes Kermit the Frog as Vamphibian (a.k.a. Edward), Miss Piggy as Bella Swine (a.k.a. Bella Swan) and Rolf as WereRowlf (a.k.a. Jacob). I have to say, I’m not sure what I’m more excited for: the return of the Muppets to the big screen or the Twilight Saga finally ending! Actually, I do know…but the world premier of The Muppets tomorrow comes in at a close second!

Last week Marvel finally updated the website for its upcoming live action movie The Avengers, which included releasing these awesome teaser character movie posters! The Avengers has one of the largest, star studded casts of any comic book film ever produced, which means its marketing department is going to need to create at least eight different one sheets for every character movie poster sets it releases. Thankfully they went for a pretty simple, yet effective design for these teaser movie posters, combining each hero and villain with the film’s trademark “A” logo.

Alice in Wonderland Disney Vinylmation 3" Series

Disney Vinylmation Alice in Wonderland Series - Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, March Hare, Caterpillar, Oyster Baby, Mystery Chase Dinah & Dodo

The newest Disney Vinylmation 3” series was released earlier this month, and it’s an entire line based on The Blot’s favorite Disney cartoon, Alice in Wonderland! Not only that, but it was designed by the uber-talented Disney Design Group artist Thomas Scott. On really interesting aspect to this series is that it does not include Alice, who was released as part of Vinylmation’s Animation Series 1. The AiW Series was created as an extension of that release and was built upon the design of the original Alice Vinylmation 3" figure.

Disney Vinylmation Alice in Wonderland Series - Queen of Hearts, White Rabbit, Hedgehog, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum & Mystery Chase Variant Hedgehog

Alice in Wonderland Disney Vinylmation Series includes Queen of Hearts, White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, March Hare, Caterpillar, Oyster Baby, Dodo, Hedgehog, Mystery Chase Dinah and Mystery Chase Variant Hedgehog. On top of these 13 blind boxed figures, Disney will also be releasing a number of 9”/3” two figure sets, like the Walrus and the Carpenter set seen here. It will have a limited edition run size of 1,500 pieces and will be released in 2012. Scott has also designed a AiW Vinylmation 3” two figure set, that is scheduled for released in 2012.

Disney Vinylmation Alice in Wonderland Series - The Walrus and the Carpenter & Blind Box Packaging

The Alice in Wonderland Disney Vinylmation Series went on sale November 4th and 5th at the California and Florida D-Street locations and online November 11th at the Disney online store. Like with all limited edition Vinylmation releases, these went extremely fast. But I’m sure you can still find a few blind boxes if you look in the right places.

The Dark Knight Rises Second Look: Tom Hardy as Bane

Empire Magazine January 2012 Cover - The Dark Knight: Tom Hardy as Bane

While we got a great shot of Bane’s back a few months ago (you can see the original photo here), the January 2012 Empire magazine gives the world its first full look at Tom Hardy as Bane. This Empire exclusive photo graces the magazine’s cover and shows off The Dark Knight Rises’ villain’s new look. This movie version of “The Man who Broke the Bat” looks pretty crazy, doesn’t he? The Blot is itching to find out if this version of Bane still gets juiced up on Venom, and just what the deal is with this new mask of his. I wonder if there will be any real info this cover story of Empire’s on The Dark Knight Rises? My guess, probably not!

The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release on July 20, 2012.

Kidrobot - Stealth Warfare Edition Yankee Pig Dog Labbit by Kronk

Well, the second colorway of Kronk’s Yankee Pig Dog Labbit was released yesterday, and this version is just as poorly made as the first colorway. Why oh why does Kidrobot continue to release subpar product? Who knows, at least this time they acknowledge the “inconsistencies in production.” Is it really too much to ask for a well made $69 toy? The Blot doesn’t think so, but evidently Kidrobot does!

LASH x SpasmOne Unpainted Crystal Clear Ollie with Guts Insert Vinyl Figure

The Blot is super excited about this release for a number of reasons, but first and foremost because Mutant Vinyl Hardcore’s latest Ollie colorway will be a made to order release!!! This means there is no set run size, and anyone that wants one can pre-order it this weekend. The Blot’s been dying to get his hands on one of LASH’s giant figures for the past year, but I have terrible luck with lotteries and didn’t have the funds for the last Ollie made to order colorway. Even better still this Ollie comes unpainted in crystal clear vinyl, one of The Blot’s personal favorites!

LASH x SpasmOne Unpainted Crystal Clear Ollie with Guts Insert Vinyl Figure

Mondo’s newest Star Trek Screen Print Series is based on the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “I, Borg” and was designed by Jesse Philips. The print is a visual ode to the burgeoning individuality experienced by Third of Five/Hugh from the classic TNG episode "I, Borg". Jesse's unique style complements the nature of the episode, illustrating the connections Hugh has to the collective as well as the new relationships he develops while on board the Enterprise, which awaken the sense of identity suppressed by the collective. X-ray insets throughout the piece remind the viewer that there is flesh...a real heart at the center of the wires and machinery forced upon him by the Borg. The hard realization Picard eventually has to acknowledge at the end of the episode.
