2001: A Space Odyssey Screen Print by Matthew Woodson x Mutant

Mutant has released a gorgeous new 2001: A Space Odyssey movie poster by artist Matthew Woodson!  As Mutant explained, “In 2017 we worked with artist Matthew Woodson on a beautiful poster for Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece of science fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey. The dawn of man was the beginning. It dropped our jaws and broke our brains. Woodson’s work will have that effect on you. The concept exploded into an idea of the monolith not just recurring throughout time and space, but between posters and art. In 2020 it showed up again on the Tycho crater. Now, eight years since that initial release, a pair of all new discoveries.”

2001: A Space Odyssey by Matthew Woodson is an 18”x36” hand numbered 11 color screen print on Chromolux Black 100# paper. The Regular Edition is limited to 225 pieces and retails for $75, while the TMA-2 Variant is limited to 110 pieces and will retail for $90. 2001: A Space Odyssey 3D Lenticular Print by Bottleneck Gallery

Bottleneck Gallery has been working on a very special project – a new line of officially licensed 3D lenticular movie posters! As BNG explained, “movie studios would issue 3D (lenticular) movie posters for certain films. However, due to the high cost of these lenticular movie posters and posters in general, studios shifted to digital posters, and unfortunately lenticular posters fell by the wayside. We’ve always been fans of more unique and experimental movie posters, and we truly believe that lenticular posters shake up the status quo of the standard movie poster, and contain a wealth of creativity.”

There are two styles of 3D Lenticular Movie Posters being produced by Bottleneck Gallery: a thinner (1mm), flexible PET lenticular print mounted on dense paper backing. This option is more flexible, lighter, and thinner. Then there’s a thick lenticular print (4mm), akin to plexi-glass, called polystyrene. BNG calls this one Lenticular Plex for ease of differentiation. This option looks and feels like a sheet of plexiglass but with a lenticular lens. As with all lenticular prints, they are best viewed from about 4 to 6 feet away from the subject. This allows the lens to do what it does best and gives the best 3D effect.

MondoCon 2019 Exclusive 2001: A Space Odyssey Soundtrack Vinyl Records by Mondo

Mondo continues to unveil its diverse line-up of officially licensed exclusives for MondoCon 2019! Check out this really cool MondoCon 5 Exclusive 2001: A Space Odyssey Original Motion Picture Score on 2xLP vinyl records featuring a die-cut gatefold jacket designed by artist Matthew Woodson.

This MondoCon exclusive variant two disc set will be the first time the remastered soundtrack has been released on vinyl. Alex North’s iconic score was remastered at Abbey Road Studios and cut at 45 RPM. The 2001 soundtrack was then pressed on two 180 gram colored vinyl. It will also be available on two 180 gram black vinyl. It will be available exclusively at Mondo’s booth for $40.

MondoCon 2019 will take place September 14th and 15th in Austin, TX at the Palmer Events Center. MondoCon Two-day and Sunday Only tickets are available now.
