DCon Exclsuive Fossilla Eruption by Josh Herbolsheimer

Designer Con 2012 Exclsuive Fossilla Eruption by Josh Herbolsheimer & Super7

This has got to be one of the coolest releases The Blot’s ever heard! At Designer Con 2012, Super7 will have on hand a volcano where collectors can pull out a one of a kind painted Fossilla! Josh Herbolsheimer’s fossilized dinosaur stands a massive 9” tall, has five points of articulation (head, arms and legs), and is ready to take a bite out of you! Each figure is colored by the swirling, molten insides of the Earth, and no two are alike! I can’t wait to see what these look like.

The Designer Con 2012 Exclsuive Fossilla Eruption by Josh Herbolsheimer will be available this Saturday at the Super7 DCon booth #417 for $95 each.

“Devil’s Night” The Crow Screen Print by Rhys Cooper

“Devil’s Night” The Crow Screen Print by Rhys Cooper

Last night Nakatomi secretly dropped the third print in its The Crow Screen Print Series. Inspired by James O’barr’s legendary indie comic book series (and 1994 film), “Devil’s Night” by Rhys Cooper is freaking awesome! Just look at all that detail and crazy bloody crow on Eric Draven’s chest. Nakatomi has decided to give this massive 12”x36” 5-color The Crow print with a secret glow layer a timed release with a maximum numbered edition of 200 pieces (including artists copies).

This means the print will be available for purchase from now until midnight on November 1st, or until 200 prints have been sold in total. With Rhys’ popularity continuing to rise, The Blot definitely doesn’t expect this print to last through November 1st, so act fast! Pick one up today at the Nakatomi online store for $40 each.

Con Report: Austin Comic-Con 2012

Wizard World Austin Comic-Con 2012 - Avengers The Wasp, Yellowjacket & Black Widow

Last weekend The Blot traveled to Austin to attend Wizard World’s 2012 Austin Comic-Con. This is the second year in a row I’ve attended the event and it just keeps getting bigger and better (literally). The convention floor was larger, the crowds were bigger and overall, the event felt bigger. This year’s show was all about one thing…Star Trek: The Next Generation. As it turns out, Austin Comic-Con would be the only time the show’s entire cast would reunite (including Wil Wheaton) to celebrate TNG’s 25th Anniversary and fans showed up in droves!

Wizard World Austin Comic-Con 2012 - Kid Preditor

Everywhere I looked there were Starfleet captains and Vulcans roaming the convention floor. Lines for photographs with their favorite actors were hundreds deep and the lines for autographs were never ending. I haven’t seen this much enthusiasm for Star Trek in years and it was very cool to see so much for TNG. The Blot personally grew up watching Star Trek: The Next Generation and it’s still my favorite version of Star Trek. I even geeked out a little meeting a very sick Wheaton (what a trooper for being there!) and took a picture with Mr. Reading Rainbow, LeVar Burton! Burton was hilarious, and everyone was raving about all five Star Trek panels held throughout the weekend.

Wizard World Austin Comic-Con 2012 - Minecraft Iron Man

The only crowd that even came close to rivaling that of Patrick Stewart’s was The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. That guy is a freaking rock star! Seriously, fans of all ages were going crazy every time he appeared. I never saw him without a completely full line every time he was at his booth. The Walking Dead mania is definitely sweeping the country! While the comic book presence over all was down at ACC, every vendor I spoke to was selling crazy amounts of Walking Dead comics at insane prices! I personally saw multiple high dollar comics sold to Walking Dead fans who proudly professed they had never read a comic in their lives.

Wizard World Austin Comic-Con 2012 - Science Theater 3000 Crow T. Robot & Tom Servo

Even though I was bummed the show didn’t have a larger comic book focus, all in all I was really glad to see the show continue to grow. Hopefully some of that will rub off on the comic scene as well! Regardless, I got to catch up with some of my favorite local artists and retailers throughout the weekend, and marvel at the artwork of Jim Cheung!

Wizard World Austin Comic-Con 2012 - Boba Fett

The Blot had a killer weekend and saw some amazing costumes as well. While I loved the Kid Predator and the homemade Wonder Girl costume, my favorite has to be the two girls dressed up as Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo from Mystery Science Theater 3000!!! When was the last time you saw two girls cosplaying as characters from MST3K!?! It was amazing. I’m already excited for Austin Comic-Con 2013, but scheduling it the weekend before Thanksgiving is going to make it almost impossible to attend. It’ll be interesting to see how that affects out of town attendance for the convention’s 4th year.

Apocalypse Dunny Series

Kidrobot Apocalypse Dunny Series

Dunny celebrates the end of the world with a group of artists so badass, you’ll wish every year prophesized mass destruction! Angels of death, soapbox protestors, Mayan feathered serpents, toxic meltdowns – so many versions of Doomsday, how do you choose just one way to go? The Blot is beyond impressed with this new blind box series from Kidrobot. Not only does it include a number of new artists to the Dunny platform (a few of which are personal favorites of mine), but just look at all the intricate designs and crazy sculpting! And is it me or does Sam Fout’s Dunny look translucent!?! Kidrobot definitely went all out on this release!

Kidrobot Apocalypse Dunny Series - Sam Fout, Jermaine Rogers, Kronk & Chris Ryniak

The Apocalypse Dunny Series features 15 Judgment Day designs by 12 amazing artists. This limited edition blind box series includes designs by Jon Paul Kaiser, Mishka, Jermaine Rogers, Jesse Hernandez, Sam Fout, Joe Ledbetter, Ron English, Huck Gee, Patricio Oliver, Chris Ryniak, Hydro74 and Kronk.

Masters of the Universe Pop! Vinyl Figures by Funko

Masters of the Universe Pop! Television Series 1 by Funko - He-Man, Skeletor, She-Ra, Hordak & Spikor Vinyl Figures

The minute Funko announced a line of Masters of the Universe bobble heads The Blot was drooling over the idea of a line of MOTU Pop! vinyl figures. Thankfully, we now know they’re on their way! Masters of the Universe Pop! Television Series 1 will include He-Man, She-Ra and villains Skeletor, Hordak and Spikor. These all look pretty perfect, and spot on to the characters’ original designs! I’m a little surprised Hordak and Spikor are getting the Pop! treatment over characters like Beast Man and Mer-Man, but hopefully that just means more MOTU Pop! are already in development!

Not many details about Funko’s new Masters of the Universe Pop! figures, but hopefully Funko will be releasing them soon! Each vinyl figure features one point of articulation, stands 3.75” tall, comeS packaged in a full color displayable window box, and will retail for $9.99.

This 6.5” unpainted monster is an all new creation by Chris, and has been cast in green soft Japanese vinyl. Ugly Pump-corn Vinyl Figures by Rampage Toys

“Ugly Pump-corn” Ugly Unicorn Vinyl Figures by Rampage Toys

It’s almost Halloween, so that can only mean one thing…orange vinyl! The Ugly Pump-corns feature green, orange and black spray, and yes Jon cut out their eyes and mouth and sprayed them black on the inside. It’s really a pretty cool effect! This means there may be 5 painted and 5 unpainted or 8 painted and 2 unpainted. It’ll all be based on the first 10 orders placed.

“The Hatter” Alice In Wonderland Screen Print Standard & Variant Editions by Johnny Dombrowski

Dark Hall Mansion continues to impress with its diverse line of screen prints. Next week they’ll be dropping not one, but two Alice In Wonderland themed prints by talented New York City artist Johnny Dombrowski! While “Caterpillar” is nice, The Blot especially loves Dombroski’s “The Hatter” which includes a cameo by the Cheshire Cat (a personal fav!). For this piece Johnny explained that he wanted “to show the Mad Hatter's insanity on a physical plane, the idea of him being an empty shell was an idea I was experimenting with during the sketch phase.”

“Caterpillar” Alice In Wonderland Screen Print Standard & Variant Editions by Johnny Dombrowski

“The Hatter” and “Caterpillar” by Johnny Dombrowski are 22”x30” signed and numbered screen prints. Designer Con 2012 Exclusive Melange Deadbeet Glow in the Dark Vinyl Figure by Scott Tolleson

If you thought Scott Tolleson’s San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Exclusive Unpainted Blue Deadbeet was cool, wait til you see his Designer Con 2012 Exclusive Melange Deadbeet!!! Made from soft Japanese vinyl, the Melange colorway is made from clear orange glow in the dark vinyl with glitter. Yes, you read that right…It’s made from freaking clear orange GID vinyl with glitter! One of those things along would make for a pretty cool figure but combining all three is just plain sick! I honestly can’t think of any figures with a similar pallet, and I’m obsessed with clear vinyl with glitter (just check out my collection). Plus it’s a zombie vegetable, so that’s pretty cool too.

And this Designer Con 2012 Exclusive White Deathhead is all kinds of perfect! Usually with “white” colorways you lose the ability to really see all the details in a figure’s sculpt, but this is definitely not the case with Flores’ White Deathhead! Thanks to the Circus Posterus blog and Tomenosuke we have word that Brandt Peters' second Stingy Jack colorway will make its world debut at Designer Con 2012! The “Toxic Marshmallow” Stingy Jack vinyl figure is based on the custom resin Stingy Jack Brandt made for the Monsters and Misfits II show earlier this month. I don’t know what it is about the figure’s head, but it looks so sharp with its pink and red eyes and white/tan faded head. This is definitely one release not to be missed!

The Toxic Marshmallow Stingy jack will make its debut at DCon 2012, where 60 of its run of 120 pieces will be available for purchase at the Circus Posterus DCon booth #500 for around $95. The other half of its run will be split between Tomenosuke and Stranger Factory sometime around November 10th.

The Blot’s Heading to Wizard World’s Austin Comic-Con 2012

Wizard World Austin Comic-Con 2012 - Star Trek The Next Generation 25th Anniversary Reunion Event

This weekend The Blot’s heading to Austin for Wizard World’s Austin Comic-Con! Last year’s convention was surprisingly big, and with Austin just 2.5 hours away I felt like it was a show that I couldn’t miss. Once again the line-up is incredibly strong, with an impressive line-up of both comic book creators and Hollywood superstars. Without a doubt the biggest event of the convention is Saturday night’s Star Trek: The Next Generation event. The show’s entire cast is reuniting for their first US even in honor of the show’s 25th Anniversary! The Blot grew up on ST: TNG and I’m more than a little excited to see Patrick Stewart, Wil Wheaton, LeVar Burton and more!

Austin Comic-Con will also feature comic book superstars Neal Adams, Humberto Ramos, Jim Cheung, Greg Horn, and some of my personal favorites Hope Larson, Nick Pitarra, Rob Guillory and Joe Eisma! Along with the cast of ST: TNG, Wizard World will be hosting actors Eliza Dushku, The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker, WWE's CM Punk, Ray Park and Dean Cain. It should be a fun event and The Blot will be live tweeting from the convention all weekend. So if you’re not already following me at Twitter.com/TheBlotSays go do so now!

The First Iron Man 3 Trailer Is Here!!!

The Blot could go on and on about how awesome the first trailer for Iron Man 3 is, but I won't because you can just watch it for yourself. Besides, isn't a picture worth a 1,000 words? I'll just leave you with two words: The Mandarin!

Ok, now that you've seen it what do you think??? It really does look awesome, right? It will be interesting to see how much of tonal shift Iron Man 3 has from the first two films now that Jon Favreau is no longer directing. Iron Man 2 was kind of a letdown, but I really liked Favreau's take on the character. Will this new direction still let Robert Downey Jr. be the Tony Stark we all know and love? I guess we'll find out on May 3, 2013.

The Foot Soldier Custom Munny by Huck Gee

The Foot Soldier Custom Munny by Huck Gee

Even after all these years The Blot still gets excited about a Gold Life release by Huck Gee! His custom ninja customs are always spot on and look perfect. For his newest release Huck unleashes the Foot Soldier on the world! The Clan 6 Tails Foot Soldiers are trained experts in stealth, resourcefulness, and assassination. Their preferred weapons of the shadowy hunt are the tanto and kunai. It was from these elite warriors of the night that Shirokuri handpicked his wolf rider battalion.

Each handmade custom Foot Soldier vinyl figure comes signed, numbered, and includes all of the accessories seen here (including those crazy looking stainless steel weapons. Huck has only made 10 Foot Soldiers, each retailing for $750. While I assume these are all sold out, anyone interested should email Huck ASAP at sales@huckgee.com.
