Hulk: Grand Design Screen Prints by Jim Rugg, Ed Piskor & Mondo

Today, Mondo is releasing three new posters for Marvel Comics’ Hulk: Grand Design by cartoonists Jim Rugg and Ed Piskor. As Mondo explained, “We love comics. We also love Cartoonist Kayfabe. You know this already. One of the flat-out best things that Marvel Comics has been publishing over the last several years is their Grand Design series. We are thrilled to team up with Jim and Ed on three new screenprinted posters celebrating the release of Hulk: Grand Design.”

First up is Jim’s brilliant cover to Issue #1, “Monster”, featuring the massive mug of the green goliath. Additionally, Mondo will also have an Original Art Variant based on a high res scan of Jim’s original pencils and inks for the cover. Last but certainly not least is Piskor’s brilliant variant cover, a beautiful homage to Todd McFarlane’s iconic cover for Hulk #340.

The Grand Design premise is simple: to untangle decades of pesky continuity and distill it into a single, distinguishable story that gets at the core of the character (or team) in focus. Ed Piskor laid the foundation in 2018 with X-Men: Grand Design. Since then we’ve seen follow ups by the full Kayfabe stable: Tom Scioli tackled Fantastic Four: Grand Design in 2020, and now the incredible Jim Rugg is telling the tale of the jade jaws with Hulk: Grand Design.

Hulk: Grand Design by Jim Rugg is a 24”x36” hand numbered 4 color screen print on Cougar Smooth Uncoated White paper. The Regular Edition with fluorescent inks is limited to 200 pieces and will retail for $60, while the Original Art Variant is limited to 95 pieces and will retail for $65. Hulk: Grand Design by Ed Piskor is a 24”x36” hand numbered 7 color screen print on French Index Off-White paper limited to 200 pieces and will retail for $60. Red Room Screen Print by Ed Piskor x Mondo

Today, Mondo is releasing a new poster by Ed Piskor for his new comic book, Red Room!  As Mondo explained, “Together with our friends over at Fantagraphics, we are so excited to celebrate the release of this book with a brand new, screen printed poster for Issue #1: “Murder on the Dark Web via Cryptocurrency”. Red Room is sensationalized splatterpunk and outlaw comics at its absolute and uncomfortable finest, and as only Ed can conjure (possibly not for the faint of heart).”

Fantastic Four Marvel Screen Prints by Jack Kirby, Ed Piskor & Mondo

Later today, Mondo will be releasing two new screen prints of Marvel’s first family, the Fantastic Four! Created in 1961 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Fantastic Four revitalized the entire comic book industry. The first FF poster Mondo will be releasing is a beautiful, screen printed reproduction of Jack Kirby’s iconic cover artwork for Fantastic Four #1. The second Marvel poster is the variant cover art for last year’s Fantastic Four: Grand Design #1 by one of the best cartoonists working today, Ed Piskor.

Fantastic Four #1 ($50) by Jack Kirby (reproduction by Jon Smith) is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print limited to 225 pieces. The Blot was super pumped to learn Mondo will be releasing an officially licensed Marvel screen print of artist Ed Piskor’s cover to X-Men: Grand Design #1.
