Today, Bottleneck Gallery starts off the week with two new movie posters by artist Mark Chilcott – Pinocchio and Disney’s Robin Hood! As BNG explained, “Mark’s print for Pinocchio, inspired by the recent del Toro retelling, uses the play motif to showcase both the wonderful character and creature designs, while also playing off of the themes from Pinocchio’s journey. Mark’s detailed texture work is impressive, and we love how much life he infused into this piece.”

To commemorate the screenings, Spoke Art commissioned artist Matt Taylor to create a special movie poster for the film. Pan’s Labyrinth Movie Poster Screen Prints by Drew Struzan x Bottleneck Gallery

Today, Bottleneck Gallery revealed one of the biggest projects they’ve ever worked on: a Pan’s Labyrinth screening featuring Drew Struzan’s masterful artwork for the film as a screen print! Guillermo Del Toro, the visionary director behind Pan’s Labyrinth, commissioned the iconic movie poster artist to create a painting for the film before it was released. Struzan’s piece for the film is gorgeous, and it’s amazing that BNG was able to transformer it into a 23 color screen print.

Pan’s Labyrinth Art Edition Movie Poster Screen Print by Drew Struzan x Bottleneck Gallery

As Bottleneck Gallery explained, “Drew’s art for the movie is hauntingly beautiful, featuring Ofelia huddled in the Faun’s arms, with tones and colors emphasizing the dark tone of the movie.” The Pan’s Labyrinth screenings will be held on Thursday, April 13th, at Syndicated Theatre, located at 40 Bogart Street, Brooklyn, NY. Each ticket is $220 and includes 1 signed titled version of Drew Struzan’s Pan’s Labyrinth screen print, admission to the screening, 2 enamel lapel pins and a complimentary themed cocktail. There will also be a $20 screening ticket that does not include the print.

Cronos Screen Print by Mike Mignola & The Devil’s Backbone Screen Print by Guy Davis!

Cronos Screen Print by Mike Mignola

Mondo is releasing two screen prints today based on the films of Guillermo del Toro, Cronos and The Devil’s Backbone. This alone would be pretty exciting news, but what makes today’s releases extra special are the artists behind them! Cronos was designed by legendary comic book artist and the creator of Hellboy, Mike Mignola (with color separations made by multiple Eisner award-winning colorist David Stewart)!!! The Devil’s Backbone features artwork by renowned comic illustrator Guy Davis in a beautiful 9 color screenprint. If Guy’s work looks familiar it’s because of his long history working in Mignola’ Hellboy universe at Dark Horse Comics.

The Devil’s Backbone Screen Print by Guy Davis

Cronos by Mike Mignola is an 18"x24" hand numbered screen print. It has a limited edition run size of 185 pieces and will retail for $45. SDCC 13 Exclusive Pacific Rim Screen Print by Kevin Tong

San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Pacific Rim Standard Edition Screen Print by Kevin Tong

Tonight Mondo will be releasing four San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive screen prints in honor of Guillermo del Toro's epic film Pacific Rim! While all four are great, The Blot’s favorite is this killer design by fan favorite Kevin Tong. Even better still, there’s a even rarer variant, which I know will get collectors’ blood pumping.

San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Pacific Rim Gold Variant Screen Print by Kevin Tong

Pacific Rim by Kevin Tong is a 24”x36” San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive screen print. The Standard Edition has a limited edition run size of 375 pieces and will retail for $45, while the Gold Variant has a limited edition run size of 200 pieces and will retail for $75. Kinda disappointed in the variant’s price considering how large it’s run size is, but oh well! Both prints can be purchased at the Mondo SDCC booth #936.

Hellboy Screen Print by Florian Bertmer & Hellboy 2 Screen Print by Ken Taylor

Mondo continues its new Screen Print Director's Series based on the films of Guillermo del Toro with the release of not one, but two all new posters this Friday. After the killer Blade II by Mike Sutfin comes Hellboy by Florian Bertmer and Hellboy 2: The Golden Army by Ken Taylor.

Mondo Tees - Hellboy Screen Print by Florian Bertmer

The Blot loves that Guillermo del Toro is the first subject of Mondo’s new Director’s Series, but I do question their decision to release both Hellboy prints on the same day. I think it does a real disservice to the two artists. I mean how can you not compare the two prints when sold on the same day and have such similar subjects (and in my opinion one is a much stronger design than the other).

Mondo Tees - Hellboy II: The Golden Army by Ken Taylor

Both Hellboy prints measure 24”x36” and will retail for $45 each. Florian Bertmer’s Hellboy screen print has a limited edition run size of 240 pieces, while Ken Taylor’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army screen print has a limited edition run size of 360 prints.

Both Hellboy prints go on sale Friday, January 28th, at a random time on the Mondo Tees online store.

Blade II Screen Print by Mike Sutfin

Mondo Tees - Blade II Screen Print Standard Gold Edition by Mike Sutfin

The Blot’s jaw seriously dropped when I learned Mondo would be releasing a Director's Series of prints based on the films of Guillermo Del Toro. The Blot loves Del Toro’s work and can’t wait to see what artists will be involved in this exciting project. The first Del Toro inspired piece is a Blade II movie print by legendary artist Mike Sutfin! Sutfin’s artwork is incredible and you won’t find more detailed drawings of skulls and monsters anywhere.  This print looks so good, maybe Marvel Comics needs to get Sutfin to start doing Blade covers!

Mondo Tees - Blade II Screen Print Variant Red Edition by Mike Sutfin

Blade II by Mike Sutfin is a 24”x36” signed and numbered screen print on silver metallic paper. The Standard Edition print with gold ink has a limited edition run size of 175 pieces and will retail for $35. The Variant Edition features red ink, has a limited edition run size of 75 pieces and will retail for $50 each.

Both Blade II prints will go on sale today, Thursday, December 2nd, at the Mondo Tees online store at a random time.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army - New European Character Movie Posters

These new Hellboy II: The Golden Army European character movie promotional posters are sooo much cooler than the original Hellboy II Teaser Character Movie Posters I blogged about back in January.

New Hellboy II: The Golden Army European Character Posters - Hellboy
New Hellboy II: The Golden Army European Character Posters - Liz Sherman
Those first few character promo posters were just headshots, while these new and improved ones are full bodied and give us a better look at the movie’s creepy looking villains. Along with posters of the movie’s three main heroes, Hellboy, Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien, we get two posters featuring Prince Nuada and the Angel of Death, a creature that looks like it just stepped out of Guillermo del Toro’s oscar nominated Pan’s Labyrinth.

New Hellboy II: The Golden Army European Character Posters - Prince Nuada
New Hellboy II: The Golden Army European Character Posters - The Angel of Death
If you haven’t been able to tell from previous Hellboy posts, I love Guillermo del Toro’s work and can’t wait for this film to come out. He just has such a unique vision that translates amazingly onto the screen. Pretty much everything this guy touches is cinematic gold. And, while I’m not a huge middle earth fan, I know del Toro working with Peter Jackson on The Hobbit films will amount to some unbelievable special effects and movie telling. The Hobbit won’t be out until 2010, but you can see Hellboy II: The Golden Army in just 7 weeks!

Hellboy II: The Golden Army Final Theatrical One-Sheet Movie Poster

Here it is, the final theatrical one-sheet movie poster for this summer’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army by director Guillermo del Toro and starring Ron Perlman as the red, horned superhero Hellboy. I think this is my favorite Hellboy II movie poster of them all. It’s a simple poster with a funny tag line, and yet it still gets the message across that Hellboy II is an action movie due to Hellboy’s look and pose. Hellboy II’s final one-sheet movie poster really does a great job of conveying the film’s “signature blend of action, humor and character-based spectacle.” (link) “The saga of the world’s toughest, kitten-loving hero continues to unfold in Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” look for it in theaters on July 11, 2008. Hellboy II: The Golden Army Promotional Posters and Trailer

When The Blot first heard they were considering making a sequel to 2004’s Hellboy with director Guillermo del Toro (Mimic, Blade II, Pan’s Labyrinth) on board, I got very excited. While I’m not that into horror movies, even I can see that del Toro is quite the visionary and he did wonders adapting the Hellboy comic book to the big screen. Everything he touches is artistic gold and I have no doubt Hellboy II: The Golden Army will be equally as good, especially with the return of the entire principle cast. Here is the official trailer for Hellboy II due in theaters July 11, 2008.

Below are the first three teaser promotional posters for Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The online versions don’t really do the promo posters justice though. I saw gigantic wall tapestries of the posters at my local movie theater this past weekend and they looked even cooler blown up.

Here’s the Ron Perlman as Hellboy poster.

Here’s the Selma Blair as Liz Sherman poster.
