Pinocchio Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Today we get not one, but two new prints from Mondo and Sideshow Collectibles in their Disney Classic Cartoon Series by Tom Whalen. First up is Pinocchio, which also happens to be one of The Blot’s favorite Disney animated feature films. This 1940 cartoon is truly a timeless classic, and Whalen did an amazing job capturing Pinocchio’s youthful exuberance. I also love the composition of this print and subdued color scheme. This is definitely one print that could look awesome one anyone’s walls.

Pinocchio by Tom Whalen is a 24”x36” screen print, it has a limited edition run size of 400 pieces and will retail for $50. This classic Disney movie poster goes on sale at the Mondo online store today, Friday, November 4th, at a random time.

Disney Pop! Vinyl Figures Official Photos

A little birdy (or was it a mouse) sent me this official first look at Funko’s upcoming line of Disney Pop! Vinyl Figures! As you know, The Blot’s been looking forward to this new Pop! Series and I am really excited to debut the toy line’s official line-up. Pop! Disney Wave 1 features Mickey Mouse, Tinkerbell, Snow White, Toy Story’s Woody and Buzz, Monsters Inc.’s Sully and Mike, Pinnochio, Jiminy Cricket, Stitch, and villains Cruella de Vil and Maleficent.

What I really like about Funko’s first wave of Pop! Disney vinyl figures is the huge variety of classic characters and new Pixar favorites included in the series. From Mickey and Snow White, to Stitch and Buzz, almost every era of Disney magic is accounted for. And with Disney’s huge roster of characters, this is one Pop! line that could go on indefinitely!

Pop! Disney Wave 1 includes 12 figures in all and from the looks of the packaging, will be sold exclusively at Disney Stores worldwide. Look for these cute and blocky Disney vinyl figures in a Disney Store near you sometime soon!

First Look: Jiminy Cricket & Cruella de Vil Pop! Disney Vinyl Figure Prototypes by Funko

Still no official word concerning Funko’s upcoming line of Disney Pop! vinyl figures, but thankfully that hasn’t stopped the leaks from coming! Two more Disney Pop! prototypes have hit the internet recently, Pinocchio’s Jiminy Cricket and 101 Dalmatians’ Cruella de Vil. While Jiminy was to be expected (who doesn’t love that cute little singing cricket?), Cruella’s inclusion was a total surprise. Of all of the Disney Pop! prototypes The Blot’s seen so far, Cruella is the toy line’s first villain (but hopefully not its last).

All in all, this marks 10 different Disney characters included in Funko’s new Pop! Disney vinyl figure toy line, and yet we’ve still heard nothing about an actual release date. Hopefully more details will be released soon, as Funko continues to release other new and relatively unannounced Pop! toy lines.

Original Fake x Disney Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket T-Shirts by Kaws

If you love the upcoming Disney x Medicom Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket vinyl figures by Kaws as much as The Blot does, but are unwilling to spend the $300 it might take to get a set, here’s a way to get in on the action at a much lower price. Original Fake is producing a line of Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket t-shirts featuring Kaws’ reimagination of these classic Disney characters.


The Original Fake x Disney Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket t-shirts by Kaws comes in white on black or black on white, and features the image of Pinocchio on the front and a smaller image of Jiminy Cricket on the back.

UPDATED DETAILS: Disney x Medicom Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket Vinyl Figures by Kaws

When The Blot first heard about the upcoming Disney x Medicom Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket vinyl figures by Kaws I knew I had to have them…that is until I saw the price! Medicom has finally released some details about these awesome looking figures, and it goes a little something like this: the Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket set will be released via Kaws’ Original Fake on August 28, 2010 and retail for somewhere around $210-270. Here’s hoping my Disney contact can hook a brother up!


I have a feeling these Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket vinyl figures by Kaws will be very hard to get in the US, but The Blot does have a lead! ToyQube will be selling a limited amount of these figures for $265, and will be available sometime soon here.

Disney x Medicom Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket Vinyl Figures by Kaws

According to Highsnobiety.com, there is a new Kaws figure in the works and it features two of Disney’s more popular characters, Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket! Produced by Medicom, these vinyl figures of the wooden puppet who would become a real boy and his insect conscience look amazing! And while some might not like the Kaws-ification of such iconic figures, I kind of like the added details of Kaws’ signature skull head and crosses.


According to the Highsnobiety.com article, “We get a first look at the Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket toys by American artist Kaws. The two toys were shown as part of a show book; as part of the Kaws museum exhibition, which started today at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. At this time it is not clear if this toy is being released but it does show a listing of 2010 and having been produced by Medicom Toy Co. / Disney. It is also listed as from the Collection of Artist.” (link)

Medicom x Disney Pinocchio Kubrick 2 Pack featuring Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket

The second big Medicom x Disney release of 2010 is the Pinocchio Kubrick 2 pack featuring 100% Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket Kubrick vinyl figures. These two figures look awesome, but I do wish the Jiminy Cricket figure was a tiny bit smaller. From the pictures, Jiminy looks bigger than Pinocchio and that’s just wrong!


This Medicom x Disney Pinocchio Kubrick 2 pack includes the two 100% Kubrick vinyl figures seen above and should hit store shelves sometime in May of 2010. The Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket Kubrick vinyl figures will retail as a set for $20-30.

MINDstyle x Disney D23 Expo Exclusive Vinyl Figures Pre-Sale

Last weekend D23, the official community for Disney fans, held its inaugural Expo this past weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. MINDstyle was there selling all sorts of Art Toy Collectibles (i.e. designer vinyl figures) that you can’t find anywhere else in North America. These figures included the Bloc28 Mickey Mouse figure by Tenga, the Bloc29 Mickey Mouse by Suiko, the Jiminy Cricket vinyl figure, The Black Hole’s D23 Expo Exclusive Tron Colorway V.I.N.CENT. vinyl figure and Fantasia’s Chernabog vinyl figure. Best of all, MINDstyle announced on its blog this past weekend that fans and collectors not able to attend the D23 Expo can now pre-order these awesome Disney figures directly from MINDstyle by emailing in your order info@mindstyle.com.


Disney’s Bloc28 collectible vinyl figures were originally only sold in Hong Kong, but as of the D23 Expo they are finally available in the US. Bloc28 Mickey by Tenga is big at over 15″ tall and has a wing span of 22 inches. The edition size of the Bloc28 Mickey by Tenga is only 300 pieces and retails for $125 each.


Bloc28 Mickey by Suiko is 12″ tall and is limited to an edition size of 500 pieces. This figure also includes a free random sized t-shirt, all for $125 each.


The MINDstyle x Disney Jiminy Cricket art toy collectible figure stands nearly 12 inches tall and retails for $125 each. Jiminy’s edition size is open to all pre-orders until the pre-order period ends at 5:00PM PDT, Monday, September 14, 2009.


Disney’s Tron inspired “The Black Hole” V.I.N.CENT. vinyl figure is sized at over 10″ tall and masterfully painted in metallic blue color tones. The edition size is open to all pre-orders from now until the pre-order period ends at 5:00PM PDT, Monday, September 14, 2009, and retails for $130 each.


The hard to find Disney Villain Chernabog ATC is sized at over 12″ tall with a massive wing span. The edition size is open to pre-orders during D23 with orders being taken until 5:00PM (PDT), Monday, September 14, 2009, and retails for $150. Once production is closed, the figures will no longer be available direct, except on a very limited basis at select retailers.

MINDstyle x Disney Jiminy Cricket Vinyl Figure

It looks like MINDstyle’s new deal with Disney has officially hit the ground running. The designer toy company has wasted no time in creating a series of amazingly detailed Art Toy Collectibles based on Disney’s classic characters. The Blot’s a huge fan of Disney’s Peter Pan Pinocchio (please ignore this brain fart), so I was excited to find out on Friday that MINDstyle will be releasing a Jiminy Cricket vinyl figure sometime soon (I hope). Unfortunately, MINDstyle hasn’t released any actual details about this upcoming figure like its size, price or run size. As of now all we’ve got to go on are the two pictures above, but they are pretty cool looking pictures! So at least we’ve got that to go off of.
