Spider-Man 1978 TV Series Spider Strings Pose Marvel Retro Sofubi Vinyl Figure by Medicom Toy

The Blot was super excited to learn Medicom Toy is releasing a second Spider-Man Retro Sofubi Figure based on the Toei 1978 live action television show, The Amazing Spider-Man!  In that television series, Marvel’s Spider-Man wore his web shooter as a bracelet on the outside of his costume, which you can see it on the figure’s left wrist.  The live action Spidey would often strike this pose when he was about to shoot some spider webs.

The Amazing Spider-Man 1978 TV Series Spider Strings Pose Marvel Retro Sofubi Vinyl Figure by Medicom Toy stands 9.8” tall and will retail for around $85.  Scheduled to ship in late March 2021, the figure is available for pre-order now.

Amazing Spider-Man 1977 TV Series Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection Vinyl Figure by Medicom Toy

Wow, it’s hard to believe it has been almost 4.5 years since Medicom Toy ended its awesome Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection. The Blot really loved those 10” soft vinyl figures, and I was super pumped to learn Medicom was resurrecting the toy line with this Wonder Festival 2020 Exclusive Spider-Man figure! It is based on Spidey’s costume in the 1977 live action television show, The Amazing Spider-Man, in which he wore his web shooter as a bracelet on the outside of his costume. You can see it on the figure’s left wrist.

This rad new take on Marvel Comics’ Amazing Spider-man will go on sale this Sunday, February 9th, at Wonder Festival 2020 for around $80. There will only be 100 of these figures available at Wonder Festival, but Spidey is also available online with its final run size based on the number of orders placed. Hopefully this is just the first of many new Marvel Retro Sofubi figures!!! A boy can dream, right?

Deadpool Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection Vinyl Figures by Medicom

It’s been awhile, but Medicom has finally released a fifth wave of their awesome Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection! Not only is The Blot a huge fan of this toy line and its retro style, but I’m constantly blown away by Medicom’s character selection. Instead of going with easy choices like Captain America or Black Widow, they’ve picked a number of fan favorites like Venom, Ghost Rider, The Vision and Rocket Raccoon. For its next wave of figures, Medicom is spotlighting Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool!

Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 5 includes Deadpool in his signature red and black costume and a grey and black variant costume X-Force Deadpool! Both Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection figures stand 10” tall with 4 points of articulation, are cast in soft Japanese vinyl, and come packaged in a full color window box. While these Deadpool figures are not expected to hit store shelves in the US until February 2016, you can pre-order both toys now from Entertainment Earth for $89.99 each here.

Medicom has announced a fourth wave of their awesome Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection, and The Blot can’t wait to get my hands on both figures! Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 4 includes the Hulk and Rocket Raccoon. What’s great about this release is it ties in to Marvel’s last two movies, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Guardians of the Galaxy, and Incredible Hulk issue 271 from 1982, which is the first canon appearance of Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel universe.

Both Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection figures are cast in soft Japanese vinyl, feature 4 points of articulation and come packaged in a full color window box. Venom, Ghost Rider & The Vision Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection Vinyl Figures by Medicom

Medicom is not messing around with its Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection, and The Blot is very happy about it! In less than a year, Medicom has already announced three waves of figures featuring the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe. Wave 3 is the toy line’s most diverse release yet, featuring the popular Spider-Man villain Venom, The Avengers’ resident android Vision, and the supernatural Ghost Rider. There’s really no connection between these three characters, making it a very odd line up of figures. But somehow Medicom makes it work. It helps that all three Marvel heroes are bad ass!

These Venom, Ghost Rider and The Vision Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection vinyl figures stand 10” tall, features 4 points of articulation, and come packaged in full color window boxes. While these figures are not expected hit stores in the US until June 2015, you can pre-order them now from Entertainment Earth for $89.99 each here.

The Blot’s been sitting on this release for a while as I searched the internet for news on a US release. Sadly, I still haven’t found out much. What we do know is Medicom is continuing its awesome Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection with a pre-order for two new 10” vinyl figures. Although this line is based on Marvel comic books, Medicom went with two key characters from next summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron live action film, Iron Man and the evil Ultron! Here’s hoping these eventually become available in the US because The Blot has to get his hands them.

These Iron Man and Ultron Marvel Retro Sofubi Collection vinyl figures stand 10” tall, features 4 points of articulation, and come packaged in full color window boxes. These figures retailed for around $90 each and are expected to ship in Japan sometime in June 2015.
