SDCC 2023 Exclusive Space Usagi Stan Sakai Edition Action Figure by Stan Sakai x Dogu Publishing x NECA

Stan Sakai and Dogu Publishing are teaming up with NECA to release this rad San Diego Comic-Con 2023 Exclusive Space Usagi Stan Sakai Edition Action Figure! But this isn’t just any action figure. Included in this exclusive package are not only one-of-a-kind metallic accessories available only with this edition, but also a limited edition slipcase and a signature card. These accessories are not found anywhere else, making this a truly unique collector’s item.

Standing 7” tall, this highly detailed figure captures the iconic look of Space Usagi in all his black and white glory. The blaster, knife, and S.P.O.T. are produced in a shiny metallic silver. SDCC 2019 Exclusive Usagi Yojimbo’s 1st Appearance “Albedo #2 Cover” Screen Print by Stan Sakai

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Usagi Yojimbo, Stan Sakai will be releasing a San Diego Comic-Con 2019 exclusive screen print of his cover artwork for Albedo issue #2, the first appearance of his beloved long eared ronin rabbit! This print measures 18”x24”, will come signed and numbered by Sakai, and will be available in two colorways. The Full Color Edition is a 7 color screen print limited to 150 pieces and will retail for $50, while the Black and White Variant is limited to just 50 pieces and will retail for $125. Both editions can be purchased exclusively at San Sakai’s SDCC booth #4906.

Stan Sakai Exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Usagi Yojimbo Action Figure by Playmates x Nickelodeon

If you missed out on last summer’s epic San Diego Comic-Con 2017 Exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Usagi Yojimbo 5” Action Figure by Playmates, you’re in luck! Because Stan Sakai, the creator of Usagi Yojimbo, has announced the release of his very own exclusive colorway of this awesome action figure. The Sakai Variant Usagi Yojimbo action figure features black clothing and a red sash and includes a bow and arrow as the long eared ronin’s new secondary weapon.

While the SDCC 2017 exclusive Usagi variant was limited to 350 pieces, this Stan Sakai variant has an even smaller run size! The packaging of this figure features new artwork on the side panels and back, and also features a personal letter from Stan on the back. The Stan Sakai Variant Usagi Yojimbo action figure will be released in small batches at a time in four different editions at StanSakai.com.

The Unsigned Version will retail for $50, the Signed Edition (LE 200) will retail for $75, the Remarqued Edition (LE 150) will retail for $125, and the Artist Proof Edition (the rarest of all four) will retail for $175. The Blot can’t like, I kinda freaked out last night when I learned Mondo had released during Preview Night a freaking San Diego Comic-Con 2017 Exclusive Usagi Yojimbo Screen Print by Stan Sakai! The Blot is a huge fan of Sakai’s work and I’ve been reading Usagi Yojimbo comic books for as far back as I can remember. So to hear Mondo was now working with Sakai kinda blew my mind. I know Mondo does a lot of comic book inspired releases, but this is just one collaboration I never saw coming. Now, who’s going to help me get one of these beautiful new prints!?!?

Thanks to Nerdist we have our first look of this upcoming release from Nickelodeon.  It’s pretty exciting to see Stan Sakai’s rabbit ronin return to Nickelodeon’s TMNT cartoon and comic book universe, and there’s no better way to celebrate Usagi’s return than with a SDCC exclusive deluxe action figure. This exclusive includes two alternate heads, his signature Samurai swords, a tokage lizard and a banner accessory.

Usagi Yojimbo: The Special Edition Hardcover Two Volume Slipcase Set

Last week Fantagraphics released an incredibly comprehensive Usagi Yojimbo collection to celebrate the long eared ronin’s 25th Anniversary, and The Blot can’t wait to get his hands on a copy! As many of you know, Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo was originally published by Fantagraphics Books (for its first ten years to be exact). So in honor of the 25th Anniversary of Stan Sakai’s most popular character, Fantagraphics is releasing a deluxe slipcase set collecting the first seven Usagi books.

With over 1,000 pages of story, this is THE complete, definitive, early Usagi. This Special Edition Set will also be brimming with extra material, including a complete full-color gallery of more than 50 Usagi covers from that time period; preparatory sketches, including Sakai’s original first draft of the “Samurai” story; two “non-canon” Usagi stories by Sakai co-starring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (with whom Usagi also shared screen time in the TMNT TV series); the rare behind-the-scenes "How I Draw Usagi Yojimbo" strip; introductions by Stan Sakai and Stan Lee; and a feature-length, career-spanning interview with Sakai.

Usagi Yojimbo Plush Toy

As you all know, one of The Blot’s favorite comic book characters, Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To commemorate this impressive milestone, publisher Dark Horse Comics will be bringing this fluffy, badass bunny to life with an all-new plush toy, with art direction by the creator himself! This new toy stands 14 inches tall from his carefully detailed sandals to the tips of his movable ears.


Stan Sakai, who provided extensive reference art for the project, oversaw every detail in the design process. “I have always thought that a doll of this type would be an excellent presentation of Usagi,” Sakai remarked, “and have been happy to assist as the prototype evolved with commentary and revisions. I think he came out very well indeed.”

Usagi Yojimbo is a long-running comic book set in seventeenth-century Japan, with anthropomorphic animals replacing humans. The lovable rabbit ronin, Miyamoto Usagi, wanders the land as a shugyosha (student warrior on a pilgrimage), occasionally selling his services as a yojimbo (bodyguard). Usagi Yojimbo is one of the most celebrated ongoing comics, adored by critics and fans of all ages for the last twenty-five years.

The Hundreds x Dark Horse Comics Usagi Yojimbo Limited Edition T-Shirts by Stan Sakai

Yes, you read that title correctly! Designer clothing label The Hundreds is teaming up with Dark Horse Comics to release a line of Usagi Yojimbo t-shirts to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Stan Sakai’s famous long eared ronin samurai! This collaboration has The Blot very excited, as one of my all time favorite comic book characters finally hits the mainstream with a line of designer t-shirts.



On Saturday, November 21st, The Hundreds will be releasing two limited edition t-shirts at the company’s flagship stores in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The Blot is already trying to convince my friends in LA and San Fran to hook me up with the awesome blue UY tee seen above.


The back of each shirt features the logos of all three parties involved in this killer release, The Hundreds’ Bomb logo, Stan Sakai’s signature, and the Dark Horse Comics logo. Both The Hundreds x Dark Horse Comics Usagi Yojimbo limited edition t-shirts feature new artwork by Stan Sakai made specifically for this release, and each shirt is limited to just 200 of each design.


To mark this very special occasion, on Saturday Usagi Yojimbo creator Stan Sakai will be at The Hundreds’ LA location from 11am to 12pm to sign copies of the latest issue of his monthly comic. Teenage Mutant Ninja Dunny Series by Nikejerk

When The Blot first saw this amazing hand painted set of 3 inch custom Dunnys I knew I was going to have to blog about them. The Blot has always been a huge fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I, like most people in their late 20s/early 30s, first learned about the heroes in a half shell through their popular afternoon cartoon series, which also spawned a long running Archie comic books series and the awesomely cheesy Playmates Toys TMNT toy line. It is this version of the Ninja Turtles that Nikejerk’s Dunny series is based on.


As I got older I moved on from the “kiddie” version and became an even bigger fan of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book series by Eastman and Laird (and produced by Mirage Studios). The original black and white Mirage Studios series is still one of my favorites, but I will always have a special place in my heart for the animated/comedic version of the Turtles. That’s why I love this blind boxed TMND series by Nikejerk. If you don’t recognize everyone in the picture above, here is the complete list of TMNT characters included in Nikejerk’s TMND set: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello), Master Splinter, Shredder, April O’Neil, Casey Jones, Krang and his mechanical body, Bebop, Rocksteady, Metalhead, the Rat King, Baxter Stockman and Usagi Yojimbo.

This first custom Mighty Mugg is probably one of my all time favorites and it comes from the creator of MuggLab, Dr. Mugg. Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo is one of The Blot’s all time favorite comic books (which I’ve been reading faithfully for over 15 years), so of course I was really excited to see the long-eared ronin in Mighty Muggs form!
