SDCC 13 First Look: X-Men: Days of Future Past Portraits + Bishop & The Sentinels!

San Diego Comic-Con 2013 First Look: X-Men Days of Future Past Character Portraits - Omar Sy as Bishop, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok & Daniel Cudmore as Colossus

Every studio with a “sure fire” summer blockbuster in the works waits until San Diego Comic-Con to make their big announcements. So it should come as no surprise that FOX would unveil these awesome X-Men: Days of Future Past portraits, which includes our very first look at Omar Sy as Bishop!!! It’s been long rumored that Sy would portray the time traveling mutant, but now it’s been officially confirmed. And boy does Sy look spot on! The red sash, the awesome dreads and of course the dreaded M brand across his right eye.

FOX also unveiled five other character portraits including Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and Daniel Cudmore as Colossus from the original X-Men trilogy and Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and Lucas Till as Havok from X-Men: First Class. They also had an awesome display of an actual Sentinel head from the film. I wondered how accurate the film’s Sentinels would be to the source material and from this head it looks pretty spot on! Can’t wait to find out more about the product of X-Men: Days of Future Past and its continuously growing cast.

Marvel Movie Poster Series by DaveWill

Marvel Movie Poster Series by DaveWill - The Avengers Print

The Blot was recently introduced to the amazing work of British artist Dave Williams (aka DaveWill), and boy is he producing some really fun movie prints. I just wish I’d found out about him before his Marvel Movie Poster Series sold out! DaveWill is a graphic designer/illustrator from Liverpool, UK who loves to design alternative movie posters in his spare time. Over the past year he’s designed movie posters for X-Men: First Class, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor and now The Avengers!

While all four posters are great, I especially like DaveWill’s designs for Thor and X-Men: First Class because of their retro feel. The SHILED logo in The Avengers poster is also pretty awesome.  Each movie poster in DaveWill’s Marvel Movie Poster Series has been released as an 18”x24” print on 350gsm stock. Only 10 prints of each Marvel movie poster were produced and they retailed for around $40, but unfortunately they’re all gone now. Keep your eyes peeled to DaveWill’s official website for future releases in this exciting series.

X-Men: First Class International Character Movie Poster Set

X-Men: First Class - James McAvoy as Charles Xavier

We’re just a few days away from the world premier of X-Men: First Class, and The Blot can’t get over all the positive reviews the film’s been getting! It honestly sounds like a comic book fan’s dream come true…great acting, a great story, and it even stays true to the basic premise of the Marvel comic books! What more could we ask for? I’m also pleasantly surprised at the characters they chose to include in First Class. Never in my wildest dreams did I think FOX would ever produce an X-Men film without Wolverine. Instead we get a true hodgepodge X-Men from throughout the ages, including some of my personal favorite mutants like Havok, Banshee and Sebastian Shaw!

X-Men: First Class - Michael Fassbender as Magneto

X-Men: First Class - Nicholas Hoult as Beast

Now The Blot still hasn’t seen the film, so I could totally be off base on how good X-Men: First Class is going to be. But I haven’t read a single negative review yet, and it even has a 97% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes! X-Men: First Class went from being the comic book film I was looking forward to the least to the top of my Must See List for the summer of 2011. I hope everyone really enjoys it, because I would love to see a series of kitschy 60s era X-men films! Unfortunately Aly and I will be traveling this weekend for a wedding, so my X-Men: First Class viewing will be delayed by at least a week if not two.

X-Men: First Class - Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique

X-Men: First Class - Lucas Till as Havok

This latest set of X-Men: First Class international character movie posters includes James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, and Alex Gonzalez as Riptide. The only question I have based off this list is how many movies will have to be made before we see a baby Nightcrawler BAMFing around!?!

X-Men: First Class - January Jones as Emma Frost

X-Men: First Class - Jason Flemyng as Azazel

X-Men First Class - Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore

X-Men: First Class - Alex Gonzalez as Riptide

X-Men: First Class premieres this Friday, June 3rd, in theaters everywhere.

New X-Men: First Class International Movie Poster

International X-Men First Class Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster

While it’s not perfect, at least we’ve finally gotten a half decent X-Men: First Class one sheet movie poster! The version seen here is in French, and The Blot can’t tell you how happy I am that they’ve finally straightened Charles Xavier’s (James McAvoy) head and given him a neck. It’s definitely a step in the right direction, but it is a little weird to see Lucas Till’s Havok get better poster placement than Jennifer Lawrences’ Mystique. What were they thinking!?!?

X-Men: First Class is directed by Matthew Vaughn is scheduled to debut in theaters on June 3, 2011.

X-Men: First Class Character Trailers

Yesterday, MTV.com released 3 never before seen X-Men: First Class character trailers featuring Marvel heavyweights Beast, Havok and Banshee! This is the first time I can remember a movie releasing character trailers, but I have to say it's a pretty cool idea. Especially when they are for secondary comic book characters the general public is probably not familiar with.

The Blot’s been wondering what kind of roles Havok and Banshee will playing in the film, and if these trailers are any indication, they’ll be active members of Xavier’s X-Men. While I’ve absolutely loved all of the video clips I’ve seen of X-Men: First Class so far, I am starting to worry that maybe they’re showing too much. Will there be anything left to marvel at in the theaters?

X-Men: First Class is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 3, 2011, and stars Nicholas Hoult as Beast (Hank McCoy), Lucas Till as Havok (Alex Summers), and Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee (Sean Cassidy).

New X-Men: First Class Trailer

The newest trailer for X-Men: First Class hit the internet today, and it's awesome! No really, it's great. It features the entire "first class" of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters (well the movie version that is), including our very first look at Banshee! That first team shot with everyone on the Blackbird in their blue and gold uniforms was just perfect. I can't wait to see the entire scene.

I'm not sure why, but the film's trailers are as good, if not better, than its posters are bad. The discrepancy is really quiet strange. I seriously love this trailer, and if after watching it you're not totally stoked for X-Men: First Class, well something's wrong with you!

X-Men: First Class is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 3, 2011. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn and stars James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, January Jones as Emma Frost, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw and Rose Byrne as Dr. Moira MacTaggert.

X-Men: First Class International Movie Poster

X-Men: First Class International Movie Poster

The first X-Men: First Class international one sheet movie poster was released last week, and sadly it’s more of the same. I don’t know why, but The Blot keeps expecting these posters to get better…and then Sony puts out more photoshopping disasters. I guess I’m just a glutton for punishment! What’s worse is the poster itself is pretty cool. I like the tagline “Witness The Moment That Will Change Our World” and that the poster features all of the film’s principle cast, but something about each actor looks off.

What really bothers me is that James McAvoy’s (Charles Xavier) head/neck looks weird. On second thought, Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Jennifer Lawrence’s (Mystique) heads look weird too. You’d think they’d put a little more effort into photoshopping the film’s main characters before they released a big summer blockbuster’s media campaign. But I guess that’s too much to ask for! Any chance they put out a decent poster before the film hits theaters?

X-Men: First Class Character Movie Poster Set 2

X-Men: First Class One Sheet Movie Poster - James McAvoy as Charles Xavier

Oh my god, if you, like The Blot, thought the first set of X-Men: First Class character movie posters were bad, wait until you get a look at these! What is going on over at the Sony marketing department? Does no one know how to photoshop anymore? Continuing the same theme as before, these posters feature the superimposed faces of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Charles Xavier and Magneto from 1963 over the shadowy outlines of their present day selves.

X-Men: First Class One Sheet Movie Poster - Michael Fassbender as Magneto

I don’t know about you, but these last four X-Men: First Class one sheet movie posters have me seriously questioning this film’s credibility. Who OK'ed these posters!?! They seriously look like they were fan made, and not even by talented fans. Someone needs to rethink this film's marketing strategy ASAP…and what's so frustrating is that first trailer was so good!

X-Men: First Class Character Movie Posters

X-Men: First Class One Sheet Movie Poster - James McAvoy as Charles Xavier

Sony released the first two character one sheet movie posters for this summer’s X-Men: First Class and The Blot is seriously underwhelmed. This film has had some seriously top notch marketing so far, and then comes these two train wrecks. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s bad photoshopping on a movie poster. What’s even worse is they ruined a perfectly good idea: juxtaposing the 60’s versions of Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr with their future selves (Professor X and Magneto) as reflections in the water. Here’s hoping the next batch of X-Men: First Class character movie posters are better than these!

X-Men: First Class Minimates

X-Men First Class Minimates - Professor Charles Xavier & Magneto

Check this out! Art Asylum recently posted the world’s very first look at toys associated with the upcoming Marvel Comics movie X-Men: First Class and they look pretty cool. Just like the film’s fast-tracked release, Art Asylum had to move quickly to get these Minimate action figures ready for the film’s summer release. The X-Men: First Class Minimates Series includes Charles Xavier, Magneto, Beast, Havok, Mystique, Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw and Azazel.

X-Men: First Class Minimates - Beast, Havok & Mystique

I actually really like these X-Men: First Class Minimates because all of the looks come straight from film’s most recent kick-ass trailer. If I had one complaint it would be that all the X-Men uniforms include those big parachute straps and buckles, which kind of detracts from their classic blue and yellow look. But I’m sure Art Asylum was trying to recreate each character’s signature look from the movie, which they did perfectly (from what I’ve seen so far).

X-Men: First Class Minimates - Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw & Azazel

No word on when this series of X-Men: First Class Minimates will hit stores, but I would assume they would be released around the same time as the film, June 3, 2011. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn and stars James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, January Jones as Emma Frost, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Jason Flemyng as Azazel.

X-Men: First Class Teaser Trailer

Of all the Marvel movies coming out this summer, Sony’s X-Men: First Class was the one The Blot was looking forward to the least. That all changed yesterday with the release of the film’s first teaser trailer! It is great in so many ways, but most of all it reminded me why I loved the X-Men movies so much. While Captain America and Thor are getting most of the hype because it’s the first time those two characters have been brought to life on the silver screen, it is the X-Men franchise that set the standard (along with the Batman franchise) of how to make a great comic book adaptation.

Truth be told, I’ve been pretty down X-Men: First Class, especially after seeing all those average still photos that leaked last month. But after seeing the trailer above my opinions have changed. It’s amazing what one good trailer can do to turn a film’s fortunes around. First Class went from being this summer’s forgotten Marvel film to the front of many fan’s "Must See" list. I’m not going to say it’ll be better than Thor or Captain America (ok just Thor, we all know Cap is going to suck), but I’m starting to think it’s got a shot!

X-Men: First Class Teaser Movie Poster

X-Men: First Class Teaser One Sheet Movie Poster

Is every single comic book movie coming out this summer or what? I didn’t realize X-Men: First Class by Matthew Vaughn was also coming out this summer along with Green Lantern, Thor and Captain America. I don’t know how I feel about First Class, but I like Vaughn and he’s assembled quite the cast. The cast includes James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, January Jones as Emma Frost, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw and Rose Byrne as Dr. Moira MacTaggert.

From what I’ve read the movie will also feature characters such as Havok, Mystique, Beast, Darwin and Banshee, but no Cyclops? That’s more than a little surprising. What I really want to know is how well will an X-Men movie be received without costumes or the actual X-Men most of mainstream America knows and loves? Here’s hoping there’s at least the formation of the first class of X-Men, like the title read.

I’ve got a feeling Sony will be putting all of its marketing power behind this film, so we should be getting some awesome posters, banners and trailers for X-Men: First Class. Until we know more, enjoy the first teaser one sheet movie poster for the film. X-Men: First Class is scheduled to premiere in theaters everywhere on June 3, 2011.
