We finally have a legitimate photograph of Hasbro’s upcoming San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusive Wolverine with retractable claws Mighty Mugg thanks to
ActionFigurePictures.com. (
link) The Blot had some serious reservations about this year’s Marvel Comics SDCC exclusive Mighty Mugg when it was first announced, but I think it looks pretty cool! It’s obviously a homage to this summer’s quasi-blockbuster
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and it actually resembles Hugh Jackman (at least it does slightly if you squint while looking at the figure). I do wish they hadn’t tried to copy everything about Jackman’s movie version of Wolverine because I could have done without his big shiny belt buckle.

There has been no official announcement yet on the SDCC 2009 exclusive Wolverine Mighty Muggs’ run size or price, but I’d be willing to wager it will retail for somewhere between $15 and $25. For those of you unwilling to wait until the figure’s release at San Diego Comic Con, there might be one available already on eBay (and a SDCC exclusive Optimus Prime Mighty Mugg as well).

I'm glad the rumor was true, and that Hasbro didn't get lazy by repainting another figure in chrome. I kinda prefer the recent Logan mighty mugg they have out though, but they certainly can't go wrong with retractable claws. How do you like the new 3.75 Marvel unverse line?
Seriously! I was really worried the SDCC Wolverine was just going to be a repaint of the recently released Logan Mighty Mugg with some horrible looking "retractable claws" accessory. But this figure looks cool. I can't wait to get a closer look at how the figure's claws work.
You know, I think the Marvel Universe 3 3/4" figures have turned out great! I haven't bought any, but I always check out the newest figures when they hit store shelves. Plus, it looks like many of the figures come with cool accessories, which is a nice touch.
When Hasbro and Mattel both announced they would be releasing smaller scaled action figures with G.I. Joe like articulation I was really excited. I thought we were finally going to get action figures from both comic book companies that would be the same scale/size, something we've come close to but never really gotten. But only Hasbro's Marvel line lived up to the hype.
I don't know what DC was thinking releasing these tiny Infinite Heroes action figures. The paint job on many of them is horrible and even though they're way smaller than similar toy lines, they're the same price as G.I. Joes and the new Marvel line.
I received one of these as part of the Marvel Universe Covers Contest - and I've posted a review here: San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Mighty Muggs Wolverine
The claw mechanism is pretty simple - it's just a channel slot and peg. Works well.
Enjoy!
