DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 6 by Medicom - Black Suit Batman & Deathstroke

Medicom has announced a sixth wave of its popular DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line with two new characters from the DC Comics universe! DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 6 includes an all new Black Suit Batman and the vicious Deathstroke the Terminator! The Blot is thrilled they’ve finally moved outside the Batman Universe again and are releasing the popular Teen Titans/Arrow villain Deathstroke. It’s amazing how he’s become one of the top 3 or 4 villains in the DCU (right after The Joker and Lex Luthor).

The DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line features old school looking figures cast in soft Japanese vinyl from molds by Bear Model and paint designs by Frenzy. Each figure stands 10” tall, features 4 points of articulation, and come packaged in a full color window box. Batman includes a removable vinyl cape, and Deathstroke comes holding his signature long sword. DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 5 by Medicom - Robin & The Penguin

Medicom has announced a fifth wave of its popular DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line with two new characters from the Batman Universe! DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 5 includes Batman’s sidekick, Robin, the Boy Wonder, and the gentleman of crime, The Penguin. I know there are a ton of great Batman family heroes and villains (and of course they had to produce a Robin figure), but how about Medicom give us a few other members of the Justice League? I’d personally love to see a Wonder Woman or Martian Manhunter figure in this retro style, and I’m sure fans would gobble up villains like Lex Luthor or Deathstroke.

Medicom is continuing its DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line with two new figures from the Batman Universe! It’s kind of amazing that Medicom’s Star Wars Vintage Sofubi, which launched first, has only had 3 waves of 5 figures, while the DC Comics line is already on its 4 waves of 9 figures. Who knew DC might actually be more popular than Star Wars!?! DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 4 includes two dastardly villains, The Riddler and Harley Quinn.

DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 3 by Medicom - Batgirl & Catwoman

The Blot was beyond excited to learn Medicom’s DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line will continue with a new wave of two figures! I just recently received DC Comics' Wave 1, which included Batman and The Joker, and they are seriously awesome figures (albeit a bit pricey). DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 3 includes Batgirl with a removable mask and plastic cape and Catwoman. The only disappointing part of this release is that they went with the OG Catwoman design, which in my opinion is the character's worst look. She needs a purple costume and full mask!

DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 2 by Medicom - Superman, Swamp Thing & Bizarro

The Blot hasn’t even seen Medicom’s new DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line in person yet, but I’m already obsessed with it! I’ve already pre-ordered Wave 1 (Batman and The Joker), and I can’t wait to get my hands on Wave 2, which includes Superman, Bizarro and the most surprising addition of all time, Swamp Thing. Swamp Thing was a huge property for DC back in the ‘90s, and he’s definitely had a resurgence recently, but he’s by no means a household name anymore. So of course The Blot was stunned to see Medicom include him in DC Comics Retro Sofubi Wave 2.

Superman and Bizarro each stand 9.8” tall and include plastic capes, while Swamp Thing stands 11.8” tall. All 3 figures feature 4 points of articulation, and come bagged with a header card.

DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection by Medicom - Batman & The Joker

The Blot first found out about Medicom’s upcoming DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line last July when I saw these Batman and The Joker vinyl figures in a random picture from San Diego Comic-Con 2013. I’ve been searching everywhere for more information on these figures but couldn’t even find a second pic. After over two months of internet searches I’d about given up when Entertainment Earth randomly posted a pre-order for them!!!

I can only assume this new of DC Comics Retro Sofubi figures is a follow up to Medicom’s popular Star Wars Vintage Sofubi Collection that debuted earlier this year. These retro style Batman (with removable mask) and The Joker figures are cast in soft Japanese vinyl from molds by Bear Model and paint designs by Frenzy. The Dark Knight and The Clown Prince of Crime each stand 9.75” tall, feature 4 points of articulation (I think), and comes bagged with a header card inside of “American” style toy box packaging to remind you of the good old days.

Both DC Comics Retro Sofubi figures are currently available for pre-order through Entertainment Earth for $79.99 here. They are expected to ship in March 2014.
