Saga of the Swamp Thing #37 Facsimile Edition Alternative Cover Screen Print by Matthew Allison x Mondo x DC Comics

Today, Mondo and artist Matthew Allison pay tribute to Alan Moore’s iconic Swamp Thing comic book run with this homage to Saga of the Swamp Thing #37.  It also marks Mondo’s first Alt-Cover Art collaboration with DC Comics. The official introduction to John Constantine, Saga of the Swamp Thing #37 – Facsimile Edition 2025 is in stores now with a brand new alternative Mondo Variant cover featuring artwork by the amazing Matthew Allison. As Mondo explained, “We’re deeply honored to work alongside Matthew to pay tribute to one of Alan Moore’s most brilliant issues (as well as the original cover art by Steve Bissette and John Totleben).”

“There were a handful of comics in the 80s that felt like they were genuine gateways into another world ... portals into an outer/inner dimension, made of ink and paper. Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing run was one of those. A true shift in the art form and a transcendent experience with every issue.” – Matthew Allison

Saga of the Swamp Thing #37 Facsimile Edition Alternative Cover by Matthew Allison is a 24”x36” hand numbered 7 color screen print on French Construction Pure White Paper. This Timed Edition release goes on sale at noon CT on Thursday, March 13th, at MondoShop.com for $80. It will be available until noon CT on Thursday, March 27th.

DC Comics “New 52” Mini Figure Blind Box Series by Kidrobot

DC Comics “New 52” Blind Box Mini Figure Series by Kidrobot

After a lengthy delay, Kidrobot’s much anticipated DC Comics “New 52” Blind Box Mini Figure Series has finally hit store shelves! For this series, Kidrobot has taken the heroes and villains of the DC Universe and put their unique spin on their modern day looks. What The Blot loves most of all about this series is it’s not just another Batman centric toy line. And even though it doesn’t include Booster Gold, Kidrobot did an amazing job picking a wide range of figures from DC’s original “New 52” soft reboot. I especially love how many characters they included from the Dark/Vertigo corner of the DCU!

DC Comics “New 52” Blind Box Mini Figure Series by Kidrobot - Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Joker & Harley Quinn

The DC Comics “New 52” Mini Figure Blind Box Series by Kidrobot includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Blue Beetle, Red Hood, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, and Deadman, and villains The Joker and Harley Quinn. The only shocking part of this awesome series is how few villains were included! But let’s be honesty, you’ve got to love the diversity of this toy line. And any designer toy line that includes Cyborg, Blue Beetle, Animal Man and Swamp Thing gets an A+ from The Blot.

DC Comics “New 52” Blind Box Mini Figure Series by Kidrobot - The Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Black Canary & Green Arrow

The DC Universe Mini Figure Series includes 15 figures in all, and I have not heard any mention of variants or chase figures included in this blind box series. This awesome DC Comics series should be in stores everywhere now, but you can definitely order them online from Entertainment Earth here. A full case of 20 blind boxes can be purchased for $229.99 here or just 4 blind boxes can be purchased for $39.99 here.

DC Comics Mini Figure Concept Art by Kidrobot

DC Comics Mini Vinyl Figure Series Concept Art by Kidrobot - Aquaman, Batgirl, Batman, Darkseid, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Ambush Bug, Shazam, Animal Man, Superman, Cyborg, Swamp Thing, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Catwoman & Poinson Ivy

If like The Blot you’ve been jonzing for more information on Kidrobot’s upcoming line of DC Comics vinyl figures, you’re in luck! Check out this awesome concept art of KR’s soon to be released DC Comics Mini Figures. There’s really not much new information here, as the concept art matches up to the designs Kidrobot had on display at ToyFair 2014 (originally seen here). But boy do these figures look great! Sadly the 3” toy line will be featuring DC Comics’ “New 52” designs, which are generally terrible.

According to the concept artwork above, the DC Comics Mini Figure Series will include Aquaman, Batgirl, Batman, Darkseid, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Ambush Bug, Shazam, Animal Man, Superman, Cyborg, Swamp Thing, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poinson Ivy.

Surprisingly, this toy line is pretty hero specific, with only one true villain included – Darkseid. I say that because in the “New 52” universe Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poision Ivy are basically considered good guys with their memberships in the Justice League of America, Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey respectively. But where is the love for the ‘90s era Justice League!?! These figures better sell well so I get a second wave of designs featuring Booster Gold, Guy Gardner, Blue Beetle and the Martian Manhunter!

First Look: New DC Comics x Kidrobot Vinyl Figures

Toy Fair 2014 - Kidrobot x DC Comics Blind Box Mini Figures

For The Blot the biggest announcement coming out of ToyFair 2014 was Kidrobot’s acquisition of the DC Comics license! Kidrobot will be releasing a ton of new officially licensed toys this year, but the only property they hadn’t leaked any information on coming into ToyFair was their collaboration with DC Comics. As you know The Blot’s a HUGE DC Comics fan and I have been seriously drooling over these ToyFair 2014 pics courtesy of ToyArk.com!

Toy Fair 2014 - Kidrobot x DC Comics Super Powers Mini Figures

The Blot especially loves seeing so many different Kidrobot x DC Comics offerings. According to Kidrobot’s ToyFair 2014 booth the toy company will be releasing a line of blind box DC Comics New 52 mini figures, a line of blind box DC Comics Labbits, individually carded DC Comics Labbits and a retro line of Super Powers DC Comics Mini Figures! The Blot’s kind of obsessed with all things Super Powers, especially blister card packaging, so you know I’m going to be all over this release.

Toy Fair 2014 - Kidrobot x DC Comics Mini Labbit Vinyl Figures

Toy Fair 2014 - Kidrobot x DC Comics Labbit Blind Box Series

What’s really cool about this release is the variety of characters Kidrobot will be including in their DC Comics toy lines. Of course you’ve got Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League, but there’s also Animal Man, Deadman, Blue Beetle, Firestorm, Swamp Thing and multiple Red Hood figures. But what’s a guy got to do to get a Booster Gold figure included in one of these releases!?! More details to come soon!!!

DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 2 by Medicom - Superman, Swamp Thing & Bizarro

DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 2 by Medicom - Superman, Swamp Thing & Bizarro

The Blot hasn’t even seen Medicom’s new DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line in person yet, but I’m already obsessed with it! I’ve already pre-ordered Wave 1 (Batman and The Joker), and I can’t wait to get my hands on Wave 2, which includes Superman, Bizarro and the most surprising addition of all time, Swamp Thing. Swamp Thing was a huge property for DC back in the ‘90s, and he’s definitely had a resurgence recently, but he’s by no means a household name anymore. So of course The Blot was stunned to see Medicom include him in DC Comics Retro Sofubi Wave 2.

The DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line features old school looking figures cast in soft Japanese vinyl from molds by Bear Model and paint designs by Frenzy. Superman and Bizarro each stand 9.8” tall and include plastic capes, while Swamp Thing stands 11.8” tall. All 3 figures feature 4 points of articulation, and come bagged with a header card.

The Superman and Bizarro DC Comics Retro Sofubi figures are currently available for pre-order through Entertainment Earth for $79.99 each here. They are expected to ship in September 2014. Now The Blot just needs to find a US retailer that is selling the Swamp Thing figure!

Super Hero PickleBaby Resin Figures by Leecifer

Super Hero PickleBaby Resin Figures by Leecifer - Batman, Swamp Thing, Iron Man & Green Goblin

One thing The Blot and Leecifer have in common is our love of super hero inspired colorways and customs! For years Lee has blown me away with his super hero customs, especially his many Batman themed figures on a number of different platforms. I’m even lucky enough to have one in my collection! So it should have been no surprise to me that Leecifer would have a number of super hero themed PickleBaby colorways in his art show with Paul Kaiju “Bat Butts and Goat Guts” that opened last night at Dragatomi.

Lee’s PickleBaby resin figure made its world debut at his show last night and there were at least four awesome super hero inspired, one of a kind figures. You know Leecifer is a fellow comic book fan in that he named each figure by the character’s secret identity! There’s the Batman PickleBaby “Bruce”, the Iron Man PickleBaby “Tony”, the Swamp Thing PickleBaby “Alec” and the Green Goblin PickleBaby “Norman”. Are these awesome or what!?!?

All of the figures seen here, plus so much more, was first made available for purchase at the show’s opening on Saturday, October 13th, at 7 pm. Any remaining pieces will be available for purchase through the Dragatomi online store at noon PST on Monday, October 15th.

Swamp Thing Screen Print by Florian Bertmer

Mondo - Swamp Thing Standard Edition Green Screen Print by Florian Bertmer

Mondo continues its Wes Craven Director Series with this beautiful Swamp Thing movie poster by Florian Bertmer. As a huge DC Comics fan I know I am a little biased, but in The Blot’s humble opinion this is the BEST screen print Mondo has released in at least the past year. And that’s saying a lot! Bertmer absolutely killed it with all of the amazing detailing he included in this piece, and I love how he centered the image around this single red flower blossoming out of a vial, symbolizing Alec Holland’s chemically induced rebirth as Swamp Thing. If I thought we had a place to hang this beautiful print, I would already be F5’ing as you read this.

Mondo - Swamp Thing Glow in the Dark Metallic Ink Variant Screen Print by Florian Bertmer

Swamp Thing by Florian Bertmer is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. The Standard Green Edition has a limited edition run size of 230 prints and will retail for $45, while the Glow in the Dark Variant features metallic inks, has a limited edition run size of 90 pieces and will retail for $80. Both Swamp Thing movie posters go on sale at the Mondo online store today, Friday, August 19th, at a random time.

SDCC 2011 Exclusive Swamp Thing DC Universe Classics Action Figure

San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Swamp Thing DC Universe Classics Action Figure by Mattel

As you may or may not know, DC ComicsBrightest Day ended with the return of Swamp Thing AND John Constantine to the proper DC Universe after decades spent in DC’s Vertigo imprint. Since Swamp Thing and Constantine were marked “for mature readers only,” Mattel had been strictly prohibited from making toys of these popular characters. But now that they’re back in the mainstream (and all ages) DC Universe, Mattel is wasting no time in including Alec Holland’s alter ego into its DC Universe Classics 6” toy line with this exciting San Diego Comic-Con 2011 exclusive!

San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Swamp Thing DC Universe Classics Action Figure and Packaging by Mattel

This fan-demanded character is available for the first time from Mattel, and is the first ever DC Universe character to feature endoskeletal articulation. While many fans have scoffed at their first at Swampy’s endoskeletal articulation (early pictures left much to be desired), The Blot has to commend Mattel on thinking outside the box. After years of playing it safe, they’ve finally tried to do something different. And that is something I can get behind.

The San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Swamp Thing action figure will retail for $30 and comes in a paper pulp mold of Swamp Thing’s head. No ordinary packaging can contain Swamp Thing, so he’ll then be packed in a shipper box with the Swamp Thing paper pulp mold head peering out. The Swamp Thing DC Universe Classics action figure will first be available at SDCC, and then later at MattyCollector.com. If purchased at SDCC, he’ll arrive with Comic-Con exclusive mini-figures of Un-Men Ophidian and Cranius. The version of Swamp Thing sold at MattyCollector.com will not include these Un-Men mini-figures.
