Die Nibelungen Movie Poster Screen Prints by Peter Diamond x Mondo x Black Dragon Press

Mondo is teaming up with Black Dragon Press to release a beautiful pair of movie posters for Fritz Lang's Die Nibelungen by Peter Diamond! While everyone knows Fritz Lang’s film Metropolis, his most remarkable film-making achievement was 1924’s Die Nibelungen. As Mondo explained, Die Nibelungen is “a strange, visually staggering monster of a story, divided into two distinct but interconnected films, which sees Lang working on his grandest canvas, it's ‘fire and brimstone’ spectacle as vast and audacious as anything seen in the silent era, or arguably since.”

To celebrate Lang’s crowning achievement, Mondo and Black Dragon Press are releasing two posters for Die Nibelungen by Vienna-based illustrator Peter Diamond. “Die Nibelungen: Siegfried” and “Die Nibelungen: Kriemhild’s Revenge” will be available to purchase at a random time today, Tuesday, July 31st, at the Mondo online store and at 5PM UK time at the Black Dragon Press online store. Just in time for Halloween, Black Dragon Press and Mondo are teaming up to release this killer new screen print for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Peter Diamond. As the artist explains, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has been a favorite story of mine since the first time I heard it as a kid. The brilliant characters, the atmosphere, the historical setting, it all fires up my imagination... For me, the real story ends on the pumpkin's final impact, so that's the moment I chose for this image… The horse, Gunpowder, doesn't get much limelight next to Ichabod and the Horseman, but he's a great character on his own. He ends up being very important to my image, and thanks to Washington Irving's deft touch of the horse's one pupil-less eye I got a properly spooky animal to work with.”

The Wind In The Willows Screen Print by Peter Diamond x Black Dragon Press x Mondo

Mondo has teamed up with Black Dragon Press to release a new poster for Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind In The Willows by Peter Diamond! As the artist explained, “My impression of these characters and this story going into this turned out to be very different from what I came away with after reading the novel. I was broadly familiar with The Wind In The Willows from various adaptations and had certainly seen enough Willows art to have a pretty strong idea of what this thing was about: idyllic English scenery, cute animals in tweed, the toad being a bit loopy... But Toad’s not just a bit loopy, he’s truly sick. He’s charming and funny, sure, but in that very sad way perhaps only a person in the depths of addiction can be. His great source of joy and purpose is also a fatal menace to himself and those around him, and it wreaks havoc on his life.”

The Wind in the Willows by Peter Diamond is an 18”x36” hand numbered screen print, and goes on sale today, Tuesday, September 19th. This poster will be available in two versions: UK Red Variant and US Sepia Variant.
