SDCC 12 Exclusive Plastic Man DC Universe 100% Be@rbrick by Medicom

San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Exclusive Plastic Man DC Universe 100% Be@rbrick by Medicom

You've seen Eel O'Brian, aka Plastic Man, as a tire and as a briefcase. You might have seen him on television. You might have even seen him as a bathing suit. But have you ever seen him as a Be@rbrick? Medicom, Diamond Comic Distributors, and Action Figure Xpress celebrate San Diego Comic Con 2012 and the launch of the upcoming DC Be@rbrick mini-figure series (yes you read that right - a DC Universe Be@rbrick Series is coming!!!) with the release of this SDCC 2012 exclusive Plastic Man Be@rbrick! The stretchy superhero is a limited edition mini figure that promises to be one of the most sought-after exclusives of Comic-Con.

The San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Exclusive Plastic Man DC Universe 100% Be@rbrick by Medicom comes packaged in its own individual blister pack, with artwork modeled after the classic Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez DC Style Guide designs, and has a limited edition run size of 2,000 pieces. Pick one up later this week at Action Figure Xpress’ SDCC booth #3345 for $20 each.

Sonic x DC Comics Justice League Tots Plush Figures

DC Comics x Sonic Justice League Tots Plush Figures - Clark Kent, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter & The Flash

For a limited time only, Sonic is giving away these adorable Justice League of America Tots plush figures with the purchase of a Wacky Pack Kid’s Meal. The Blot’s not usually into happy meal toys, but these little JLA Tatter Tots were too cute to ignore. Collect Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, Supergirl, Plastic Man, Clark Kent and the lone villain, Bizarro, reimagined as delicious Sonic tatter tots. This is such a random DC Comics collaboration, but that’s part of the reason I love it so much!

DC Comics x Sonic Justice League Tots Plush Figures - Hawkgirl, Aquaman, Supergirl, Bizarro, Plastic Man & Superman

Strangely enough this release is extremely heavy on Superman family characters with Batman nowhere to be seen. I assume that’s due to a licensing agreement DC has with another fast food chain (McDonalds probably), but the Justice League’s not complete without its Dark Knight! Hopefully if these prove popular enough we might get a second wave of Justice League Tots down the road. I’m not sure how tall these are but each plush figure comes with a pack of Justice League Tots trading cards. I also have no idea how long these will be available at Sonic, so act fast! Hopefully there’s one near you…

Super Powers Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Sideshow Collectibles x Mondo Super Powers Screen Print by Tom Whalen

The Blot was in shock when I found out about this amazing screen print yesterday. I could not believe it took this long for me to find out about a freaking DC Comics Super Powers print! Kenner’s Super Powers Collection is my all time favorite toy line and it has now been immortalized as a killer print by the talented Tom Whalen. Evidently this print was originally released at Sideshow Collectibles’ San Diego Comic-Con 2011 party to coincide with their recently revealed DC license.

As a fellow lifelong comic book collector, Whalen took great care in making this print true to the classic 1980’s toy line and it shows. He even made to sure to include all 35 heroes and villains from the Super Powers Collection, including the two mail-away figures (The Riddler and Clark Kent). Seeing so many of my favorite DC Universe characters produced in Whalen’s signature style is a real treat! While I’m not the biggest Firestorm fan, his design really shines in Whalen’s two-tone aesthetic.

"Super Powers" by Tom Whalen is a 36”x24” 6 color screen print and was produced by Mondo. It has a limited edition run size of 250 pieces and can be purchased from the Sideshow Collectibles online store for $99.99 each.

SDCC 2010 DC Universe Classics Plastic Man Action Figure Packaging

One of the San Diego Comic-Con exclusives we’re all stoked to see is the one and only malleable immortal, DCUC Plastic Man. Being that he’s a DC Comics super hero and all, Mattel felt like his packaging should be equally impressive and here’s your first look!

SDCC 2010 DC Universe Classics Plastic Man Action Figure Packaging
This special packaging has been shaped to look like Plastic Man, and it comes in a full-color shipper box for safe keeping. But the coolest thing of all? A pair of Plastic Man glasses are included that can be removed from the package and worn by you!

SDCC 2010 DC Universe Classics Plastic Man Action Figure Packaging and Individually Packaged Suitcase Accessory
The figure itself has interchangeable standard arms, stretchy arms, giant form hands (a fly swatter and a bouncy ball with racket), and interchangeable stretchy neck and leg springs. If you do purchase Plastic Man at SDCC, he’ll also come with a special suitcase available only at the show (packed in a separate poly bag). But of course it’s not just any suitcase… Plastic Man’s arms, head and neck can be attached to the suitcase to make him appear disguised as luggage. Inside the suitcase is a chip-art comic book cover from the 75 years of DC Comics.

Can’t make it to SDCC? Don’t worry, Plastic Man (without the SDCC 2010 exclusive suitcase) will be available on MattyCollector.com after the show.

SDCC 2010 Exclusive DC Universe Classics Plastic Man Action Figure

It looks like the long rumored DCUC Plastic Man action figure is finally seeing the light of day at San Diego Comic-Con 2010! Sadly, it seems like Mattel is continuing its trend of releasing a figure as a “SDCC Exclusive,” when really only one of the figure’s accessories is exclusive to the Con (see the Wonder Twins release with SDCC exclusive Gleek).

San Diego Comic-Con 2010 Exclusive DC Universe Classics Plastic Man Action Figure with Plastic Man Suitcase by Mattel
While the Plastic Man action figure will be available via MattyCollector.com after San Diego Comic-Con, the Plastic Man Suitcase will only be available at SDCC in extremely limited supply. The DCUC Plastic Man, which will retail for $20 each, has interchangeable standard arms, stretchy arms, giant form hands (a fly swatter and a bouncy ball with racket), and interchangeable stretchy neck and leg springs.

San Diego Comic-Con 2010 Exclusive DC Universe Classics Plastic Man Action Figure with Plastic Man Suitcase by Mattel
The Plastic Man Suitcase is packaged in a poly bag and comes free when you purchase DC Universe Classics Plastic Man at SDCC 2010. You can attach Plas’ arms, head and neck to the suitcase as if he had disguised himself as a suitcase. Open up the suitcase and find chip art comic book covers from the 75 years of DC Comics. Frustratingly, The Blot predicts the Plastic Man Suitcase to sell out in 1-2 days at San Diego Comic-Con, similar to the ridiculously fast disappearance of Gleek at last year’s convention.
