“Get Animated” Bugs Bunny & Tweety Bird Vinyl Figures by Pat Lee x ToyQube x Soap Studio

“Get Animated” Looney Tunes Bugs Bunny & Tweety Bird Vinyl Figures by Pat Lee x ToyQube x Soap Studio

Warner Bros. animated characters have a long history of invading pop culture through television, from popularizing classical compositions to creating mainstream hits that stand the test of time. ToyQube has teamed up with Soap Studio to invite a handful of artists – including Eric So, Kenny Wong and Tik Ka – to reimagine WB’s iconic Looney Tunes characters through their own unique lenses in a new series of vinyl figures entitled “Get Animated”.

“Get Animated” Looney Tunes Bugs Bunny & Tweety Bird Vinyl Figures by Pat Lee x ToyQube x Soap Studio

The first two releases in this exciting new Get Animated Series are Bugs Bunny and Tweety Bird vinyl figures designed by artist Pat Lee! Bugs features a wild, dynamic design blending his traditional gray and white color scheme with vivid, fleshy pink. From his mismatched eyes to his bulging heart and curious leg shackles, the toy offers surprises and unexpected details.

“Get Animated” Looney Tunes Bugs Bunny & Tweety Bird Vinyl Figures by Pat Lee x ToyQube x Soap Studio

Pat Lee’s Tweety design recasts the adorable yellow bird as a force to be reckoned with. A stylized Sylvester lurches out from his brain, perhaps in an attempt to flee the enraged canary with his angry violet eyes and almost mech-like power. The patches of gray, fibrous anatomical details gives Tweety a futuristic, mechanically menacing appearance.

These limited edition Looney Tunes figures are made of vinyl and PVC, and go on sale at noon EDT today, Thursday, September 20th, at the ToyQube online store. Bugs Bunny stands 13” tall and retails for $179.99, while Tweety Bird stands 9” tall and retails for $169.99. The Blot cannot wait to see what will be next in this awesome “Get Animated” series!

Superman Man of Steel Character Movie Posters

Superman Man of Steel Character Movie Posters - Henry Cavill as Superman

The Blot’s been waiting for some really cool character movie posters for this summer’s Man of Steel and they’re finally here! Surprisingly all of the film’s promotional posters seem to only focus on Henry Cavill’s Superman, Michael Shannon’s General Zod and Russell Crowe’s Jor-El. But where’s my poster featuring Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne’s Perry White or Kevin Costner as Jonathan “Pa” Kent!?! I really can’t believe how little the film’s marketing campaign is focusing on Adams’ Lois Lane. Here’s hoping this film does gangbusters this weekend in the theaters so we can get a sequel!

New Superman Man of Steel Movie Posters

Superman Man of Steel Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster

Superman Man of Steel Theatrical Movie Banner

It’s not quite summer yet, but the summer movie season is already in high gear with huge films like Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness in theaters. So far most of the summer’s big films are getting pretty mixed reviews, and The Blot’s super interested to hear what fans think about Zach Snyder’s upcoming Superman live action film Man of Steel. The trailers look cool, but they’re not really what I’m looking for from a Superman film. However, these one sheet movie posters look epic. I love how iconic the posters look, and that’s what I want in a classic DC Comics Superman story (that and Lex Luthor and/or Braniac as the villain). There’s no more iconic hero than Kal-El and his films need to exude that feeling.

Man of Steel First Full Trailer

As a kid The Blot was a huge Superman fan. But over the past ten years I’ve really fallen out of love with the character. There has been a huge mismanagement of the character by all parties involved, Warner Bros and DC Comics primarily. It makes me sad that we live in a world where Superman isn’t the biggest thing going (at least in the world of super heroes). He’s the living embodiment of truth, justice and the American way for goodness sake!

While I typically enjoy Zach Snyder films, I have no faith in Warner Bros that Man of Steel will be good, even with a pretty cool first trailer. I guess I just don’t understand why they took things in this direction with a Superman movie. I know the WB is trying to re-capture the look and feel of Nolan’s Batman trilogy, but shouldn’t a Superman film be all about bright colored costumes and action!?! Where’s a bright green Braniac or the Toyman? This movie better be good or we may never see another big budget DC Comics live action movie.

Man of Steel is scheduled to swoop into theaters on June 14, 2013.

New Man of Steel Teaser Movie Poster

Man

When The Blot first heard Warner Bros. released a new Man of Steel teaser poster yesterday I got really excited…but then I saw it. Superman in handcuffs being led away by the police just doesn’t get me excited for the film like a teaser one sheet movie poster should. Obviously Superman’s letting them “capture” him because we all know he could easily break those cuffs and fly away. I guess they’re trying to get us to want to know more, but it’s not working.  I'm pretty sure the marketing department of DC Comics could come up with something better than this! The weird suit is growing on me though.

“What’s Opera Doc?” Looney Tunes Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Mondo - “What’s Opera Doc” Looney Tunes Standard Edition Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Mondo’s popular Looney Tunes Screen Print Series by Tom Whalen continues today with “What’s Opera Doc?” based on the classic Chuck Jones directed Merrie Melodie animated short. The Blot still cracks up whenever I see this classic 1957 cartoon. The image of Bugs Bunny disguised as Valkyrie Brunnhilde is so iconic, even if you haven’t seen the cartoon you recognize this image. Plus, it’s got Elmer Fudd, which makes this beautiful poster by Whalen an instant buy!

Man of Steel Teaser Movie Poster & Trailers

Man of Steel Teaser Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster

Everyone seems to be going gaga over this Man of Steel teaser poster from San Diego Comic-Con 2012, and the film’s teaser trailers which debuted before The Dark Knight Rises. But honestly, neither really blow me away. The Blot likes that they tried to do something different with the teaser trailer and the poster does a good job showcasing Superman’s new suit, but I’d still be willing to bed money this film stinks. Nothing Warner Bros or DC Comics has done has shown me they know how to produce a kick ass super hero film not directed by Christopher Nolan.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Zack Snyder and they did the smart thing by keeping Nolan involved. But it’s not like Snyder’s last two live action films, Watchmen and Sucker Punch, were critical or commercial successes. Maybe I’m just bitter at how horribly mistreated the Superman franchise has been for the past 20 years, but this film better be freaking amazing! And I better not hear one peep about a Justice League movie if Man of Steel is not HUGE next summer.

Gotham Rogues Hines Ward The Dark Knight Rises Figure by McFarlane Toys

Gotham Rogues Hines Ward The Dark Knight Rises 6 Inch Action Figure by McFarlane Toys

Did you know McFarlane Toys has never produced a Batman toy before? Well, I guess technically it still hasn’t! But McFarlane Toys is teaming up with Warner Bros. and DC Comics to release what might be the coolest The Dark Knight Rises toy of the summer. McFarlane Toys is releasing a “Gotham Rogues” Hines Ward figure, which recreates the former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and future NFL Hall of Famer’s role in the film. The Gotham Rogues are Gotham City’s professional football franchise, and you probably recognize this pose from The Dark Knight Rises’ first trailer where as Ward runs down the field scoring a touchdown, Bane sets off a bomb collapsing the rest of the field around him.

Gotham Rogues Hines Ward The Dark Knight Rises 6 Inch Action Figure in Packaging by McFarlane Toys

The Gotham Rogues Hines Ward figure is clad in the Rogues’ black and yellow uniform created specifically by Under Armour for The Dark Knight Rises, and even features the actual tattoo Ward has on his right arm. Each 6” figure includes an enhanced base that features The Dark Knight Rises logo and comes packaged in a movie themed full color window box. This may also be the last action figure of the now retired 2 time Super Bowl champion and Dancing with the Stars champion, making this The Dark Knight Rises toy even more collectible!

While not expected to hit store shelves until October 2012, you can pre-order The Dark Knight Rises Gotham Rogues Hines Ward action figure by McFarlane Toys from Entertainment Earth for $12.99 here.
