Valiant Comics comes to Texas thanks to Space City Comic Con!

This year, Valiant Comics is taking the most critically acclaimed publishing line in comics on the road and gearing up to meet more than a million fans in the US and Canada throughout 2016. Later this month, Valiant’s tour brings them to the Lone Star State (aka Texas) thanks to our friends at Space City Comic Con!!! Valiant’s one-of-a-kind convention road show is slated to storm through Houston during the 2016 Space City Comic Con this Memorial Day weekend, May 27th-29th, at NRG Center. Weekend passes, single day tickets and even VIP passes are now available for the event here.

New Valiant Comics T-Shirts to Debut at ACBC 2015!

The Valiant 25th Anniversary Tour is hitting its midway point and still going strong! Next weekend it will be heading to Atlantic City, NJ for the inaugural Atlantic City Boardwalk Con (ACBC), and bringing with it some awesome new Valiant t-shirt designs based on the comic book publisher's most popular titles, X-O Manowar, Bloodshot and Harbinger. These new Valiant Entertainment tees will be debuting exclusively at ACBC 2015, and includes the first-ever classic Bloodshot t-shirt featuring artwork by Valiant legend Barry Windsor-Smith!

Valiant will also be debuting a new Harbinger Renegades t-shirt by Harvey Award-nominated artists Khari Evans, and an all new edition of Valiant's best-selling X-O Manowar t-shirt featuring artwork by Eisner Award-winning artist David Aja! All three shirts seen here will be available for purchase at the Valiant ACBC booth #1105 next weekend, May 15-17. The shirts will then be available after the convention at the Valiant Comics online store in sizes S-XXL for around $24.95 each.

Well this is an exciting development! It turns out the Valiant Comics Minimates 2 Pack I blogged about last week (seen here) was actually a Previews Exclusive Variant Set featuring “Battle Damaged” versions of X-O Manowar and Bloodshot. New Valiant Comics Urban Vinyl Figures by CKRTLAB Toys

Next month at New York Comic Con 2014 Valiant Entertainment and CKRTLAB Toys will be debuting their new line of urban vinyl figures based on Valiant's popular line of comic books. Slated for a release in comic shops and online in 2015, the new Valiant urban vinyl toy line will feature a wide selection of highly stylized Valiant super heroes, beginning with X-O Manowar. Collectors’ first opportunity to get their hands on this exciting new Valiant toy line will be at NYCC 2014, where the X-O Manowar vinyl figure will see an exclusive early release.

The X-O Manowar vinyl figure stands 5.5” tall with 6 points of articulation and comes enhanced with a luster-rich metallic finish, exclusive "lightning sword" weapon accessory, and collectible packaging that is perfect for display. Valiant Comics Super Deformed Plush Figures by Comic Images - X-O Manowar, Bloodshot & Zephyr

When Valiant Comics relaunched in 2012 The Blot was super excited! As a kid growing up in the ‘90s I loved pretty much every book Valiant published (I never could get into Solar). Now that Valiant’s back up and running on all cylinders with a number of fantastic books, the comic book publisher is also starting to license their characters to third parties. Enter Comic Images and their line of Super Deformed Plushes!

Wave one of Comic Images’ Valiant Comics Super Deformed Plush Figures includes X-O Manowar, Bloodshot and Faith “Zephyr” Herbert of Harbinger. Each figure stands 7” tall, has a gigantic head and little bitty feet. While these Valiant Comics plushes won’t hit stores until January 2014, you can pre-order all three figures from Entertainment Earth for $10.99 each here.

The Summer of Valiant Comics Starts Today!

The Blot honestly cannot believe this is happening. After years of speculation and legal fights over ownership of the Valiant name and its large cast of characters, the Valiant universe is officially re-launching this summer after a twelve year hiatus. The Blot was a HUGE Valiant fan back in the 90s, with some of my all time favorite comic books being Magnus Robot Fighter, Rai and Archer & Armstrong. I can even still remember purchasing the last Valiant comic every produced (until today), Unity 2000 #3, at Austin Books while in college. So you can probably imagine how excited I am for today’s release of X-O Manowar #1.

If you haven’t heard, this summer Valiant Entertainment is restarting the Valiant universe with the debut of four new titles (1 a month over the next 4 months): X-O Manowar, Harbinger, Bloodshot and Archer & Armstrong. Each book brings back fond memories of the comic book industry’s heyday, and I can only hope Valiant is able to find an audience. It sounds like X-O’s already selling like gangbusters, but who knows how fans will react. To be honest it is probably the 1 book I am looking forward to the least as it’s the only series I did not really read during its original run. 

So far we really do not know much about the re-launch, but here are a few tidbits I’ve learned that I know will excite long term Valiant fans. First, Zephyr will be appearing in Harbinger! Second, once again the Valiant universe will be populated by three eternal brothers: Armstrong (of Archer & Armstrong), the Eternal Warrior (of the hit popular comic of the same name) and Ivar (aka the Timewalker). And last but not least, as you can see in the promo image above, a Rai series should be just around the corner! It’ll be interesting to see how they that series into Bloodshot. Sadly, Valiant Entertainment did not acquire the rights to the old Gold Key characters (Magnus, Solar and Turok), meaning they will not be a part of this new universe.
