Hand Painted Original Edition Astronocchio 5” Resin Figure by Dave Bondi

If you’ve been waiting to pick up one of Dave Bondi’s awesome Astronocchio resin figures until a painted edition was released, you’d better act fast! Because Dave just released two hand painted Astronocchios, and these may be the only two painted pieces he releases of this version of the figure. As it turns out, hand painting these 5” resin figures take a lot longer to finish than you’d imagine, especially because Dave wants each figure to look absolutely perfect!

A blend of Astro Boy and Pinocchio, the Hand Painted Edition Astronocchio Resin Figure is limited to just 2 pieces and comes packaged in a box that is signed and numbered by Bondi. Collectors can purchase one (while supplies last) from Dave Bondi’s online store for $185. Next up is the fully articulated, fully painted 12” version of Astronocchio that Bondi is still looking into producing!

DCon Exclusive Green Edition Astronocchio Resin Figure by Dave Bondi

Dave Bondi released the fourth colorway of his awesome Astronocchio resin figure exclusively at Designer Con 2014 last weekend! A blend of Astro Boy and Pinocchio, the DCon 2014 Exclusive Astronocchio is cast in translucent lime green resin and includes an awesome purple ray gun accessory. I don’t really understand Astronocchio’s gun accessory, but I love that Bondi throws in an extra little blaster accessory with each colorway! Rumor is this is possibly the last colorway to be released of the 5” Astronocchio, but Bondi is already hard at work at a fully articulated, fully painted 12” version! How crazy is that!?!

The Designer Con 2014 Exclusive Green Edition Astronocchio by Dave Bondi stands 5” tall and comes packaged on a full color blister card that pays homage to classic Disney graphics and Japanese robot schematics. “Blacklight Yellow” Edition Astronocchio Resin Figure by Dave Bondi

After debuting at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 with the now sold out Red Edition, Dave Bondi’s Astronocchio is finally back in an all new colorway! This new “Blacklight Yellow” colorway pays homage to vintage Disney Marx figurines from the early 1970's. With Astronocchio, Bondi takes the traditional story of both Pinocchio and Astro Boy as inanimate objects searching for their humanity and turned it on its head. Starting as a “real boy,” Astronocchio searches for meaning and, finding none, loses his moral compass to become nothing more than a violent force of nature.

SDCC 14 Exclusive Red Astronocchio Resin Figure by Dave Bondi

Meet Dave Bondi’s newest creation Astronocchio, a killer mash-up of Disney’s Pinocchio and Astro Boy! Astronocchio is a real boy who wanted to be a robot. He sought the wisdom of Krishna, Buddha, and the God of Abraham. They told him to forsake all desire to see the truth. It was revealed: suffering and happiness, love and hate, compassion and cuelty, all manifesting at once in the great catastrophic being. He was no longer human. His finger pulled the trigger, but it was someone else. He became the perfect killing machine.
